Also they are anti bacterial so the inside of your shoes won’t get mold or anything like that after years of hard wear

I find that making socks in a solid color with an interesting stitch pattern is a great way to be unique without being tacky. Handmade socks also last longer than store-bought pairs; I have a pair of green socks I knit ten years ago that are still going strong!
My first expensive socks were Fort Belvedere. They were so thin, I was nervous about wearing them. Epically after my finger nail tore a small hole in one while putting them on. They were so comfortable though, I found myself leaving them even all day. My old mid-calf dress socks would come off as soon as I got home. I will definitely be adding more to my collection soon.

It’s best to follow the rules you talk about when dressing formally or for business but if you enjoy wearing suits or enjoy dressing in collegiate/preppy style you can mix so many different types of crazy socks with outfits. You can easily wear crazy multicolored knitted socks with a tweed suit or with chinos/trousers and a shirt and or sweater. There are endless designs out of so many different materials. But I have to put on a pair of vicuña socks before I die. I just have to.

I love over the calf socks in colder weather but not in hotter weather. I've not tried Fort Belvedere but am not convinced that paying a fortune for socks helps. I had a pair of cotton Falke over the calf socks and they were great but they didn't last any longer than cheaper ones before getting holes. Instead I'll buy good quality ones but on discount, so I've never paid more than £5 a pair and sometimes less. Calzedonia are good quality for the price and UK TK Maxx stores sometimes have the British made Pantherella at amazing prices like 3 for £6.99 (when full price they would be £12-15 for one pair). In summary I'd rather not waste money by buying good socks full price and put the money to other things. But at the same time have found wearing better socks does elevate how I feel, I just won't break the bank for them
In Europe the German brand Falke offers a wide variety of patterns and colours in a good quality at a reasonable price. I own 60 pairs I think so there's a lot of rotation 😎

Love all the videos, guys, but I think you hype "natural fibers" too much. With socks, shirts, and even pants that are not part of a suit. I won't buy underwear, socks, pants, or shirts unless they're completely non-natural fibers - nylon, poly, spandex. Bamboo rayon is good, too. Old poly and nylons did not breath, but current ones breath, wash without shrinking or colors running, and they wick moisture better than wool and cotton. They are also better at retaining their shape and comfort after or while sweating, which is important in hot weather climates. A lot of companies make golf pants and shirts that also work with a sports jacket and tie. My preferred blend is 92% nylon; 8% spandex.
My boyfriend wears nylon over the calf socks daily to work. He wears real leather shoes, so his socks do not stink. His nylon socks look sleak and stay up nice and cling to his legs without sagging. He'll wear nothing else.
I've noticed over a lifetime that sock manufacturing almost never seems to quite get the ergonomics of foot comfort quite right. It's like there are markets within markets which rely largely on the type of footwear being worn. With thick boot socks, manufacturing fails because they finish the socks with stitches facing inward, irritating the toes. In dress socks there are a plethora of ways manufacturing can fail but my issue is largely ergonomics. With wool being the chosen material, often the cone bulk at the toe is too thick making the shoe feel crowded and hot. Truthfully, the way to engineer a comfortable dress sock would be to construct it with a thin top to reduce heat build up, and a heavier bulk at the heel and 'under' the toes. This is especially true if one wears bespoke dress footwear. Todays engineering seems more focused on ease of manufacture rather than comfort, which is sad.
Best tip for socks if you go cheap, is: buy a lot of same socks, with some random marking on them in batches of 20+. The benefits of doing so. If one sock gets ripped, you still have 19 good ones. (you don't need to throw another one out if one gets bad) When you wash up socks and you need to group them by pairs, you spend time searching where is the other one, especially if you have plenty of blacks. when you have some marking, easier to find pairs, and if you have all the same, it's much faster. Time saved = money saved.
I am having a terrible time trying to find socks that are solid colors. It is easier to find socks that have ultra fancy designs. And the socks that are solid colors are boring. They are usually gray, brown, white etc. It is difficult to find blue or red color socks.
I generally wear derbies, jeans, and a polo as my uniform at work. I usually wear Darn Tough socks, as it’s a very casual setting. They are extremely comfortable, wool, and lifetime guaranteed. I work 12hr shifts, and with these socks paired with Allen Edmonds Darby shoes with dainite soles, I’m more comfortable than I have been in any type of other shoe, sneaker, or boot.
I hate nylon socks my annoying little brother always placed his hot nasty feet on me while growing up so one day I got revenge I slowly scooted across the carpet floor in my cotton socks, you know what I was doing hehe he was watching me and not moving so when I got close to him zap I touched him and he got raised off the couch at least an inch of the couch he never got his feet on me again.

I think the big mindset shift I had about socks was when I realised they are not "underwear". People see them, they matter.

I wear ankle socks during the winter why because the elastic somehow doesn't last long during the entire winter and it goes down.
I like bambu socks. Bambu socks are soft and light. Only problem with Them is That they Wear Out really fast. What about you guys.
