I watched your video about two weeks ago, and today the Il Regalo socks arrived from Japan. They are AMAZING, you did not oversell them. Thank you for a very well-made, informative, and funny video! Looking forward to many more. Greetings from Switzerland.
I have to give it to you. I am a guy who wants to say I dress well, and this video made me happy. I have watched videos about style, and this is the first time someone talks about socks. Kudos to you. 🎉🎉
After watching this video I had to reread your subcount twice. The quality level is astounding for a newer, smaller channel. It can't take long before your channel blows up if you keep it up! I've been watching other classic menswear channels for years now, all of them great in their own ways. But your comedic style really sets you apart and gave me the refresher I didn't know I needed. (Good chance I'm gonna find some Il Regalo's in my own drawer soon)
Delivery, excitement, and delivery again! This has to be the most informative video I have ever seen about socks. The most impressive part of all this, is the fact that I watched a 16 minute video on socks! Only you could have liked that off. Thanks for the insight and looking forward to the next video!!
Chris, you are a natural storyteller/salesman/comedian; regardless of what you are describing or talking about is impossible not to enjoy your presentation. Your quirky sense of humour and timing are impeccable. Thank you for all the information and the valuable tips- Greetings from Argentina.
@@Industry.Purity Just got three pairs with a Black Friday discount =). Added some wool to the mix since *winter is coming*. The only thing that gave me a little bit of pause is the nylon, but as you say -- it's not a lot of money to throw away even if you don't like it.
Thank you for showing the sellers of good socks! To me, Abraham Williams appeals to me the most, while they are expensive, they do offer 100% natural fibers and they are available in five different sizes!
Chris, I just bought the Shadow Herringbone socks in M. Grey, the Herringbone socks in Navy Blue and last but not least, the Stripe Jacquard socks in Grey from Il Regalo. Thank you again for your guidance. It makes a difference!
This might be the best video I’ve seen on luxury socks. Especially when it comes to companies that sell them. Maintenance. Qualities to look for. The folding of socks makes lots of sense but NEVER seen that. Except in stores where I thought it was just for presentation. We’re talking over 30 years of fashionista here… Keep up the great work.
Over the calf really did feel odd at first, but felt really comfortable after only a short while, especially since the majority of over the calf dress socks are well made so they're comfy material anyway. I got into proper dress shoes only a few years ago and a good sock really adds the finishing touch to a good pair of shoes.
I can't believe the sub-count! I've found a real gem of a new channel. This is (as the title says) the best guide for dress socks I've ever seen! You've taken me from knowing of 3 brands (Corgi and 2 other youtuber brands) and given me so much more to work with. I am going to watch you and your channel grow with great interest.
8:39 Hi there from Germany 👋🏻 FALKE has a variety of OTC Socks and a big price ratio. You picked up the most expensive model (No. 10 Pure Fil d´Écosse) which is made from a special Egyptian cotton. They also have cheaper models beginning at 20€. After watching your video few weeks ago, I bought my first two pair of OTC Socks. And I love it❤. Even though I have problems with my leg veins, it’s even more comfortable (I recommend the Falke Airport model, which also has a compression function)! Two days ago I came by an outlet store of Falke (Ingolstadt Village) and spend some money there, because they sell it for the half of the price! Thank you for your very good video! 🫶
You my man are crazy in a good way. I have enjoyed it so much now I have spent over 100 dollars on 3 pairs of socks. This I will be billing you for(not). I really enjoyed the art of shoes and all that goes with it.
Loved this video! Just another point on the brand Falke: You only showed their luxury line which is crazy expensive. They also got reasonably priced socks in the 20-30 Dollar category. Personally i prefer the shadow striped models from them.
Thanks for the Il Regalo recommendation! It only took 3 business days from Japan to Arizona during cyber week, and the socks are incredible. Making a future video on accessories like pocket squares or other CM topics rarely addressed may be helpful, similar to this sock video. Thanks again!
This is fantastic! I am so glad you like them. They are really indeed quite nice. A similar guide to both ties and pocket squares is indeed on the itinerary, albeit a little further down the road. Thank you!
I appreciate your in depth on the places to find the socks and the construction lessons. I will go later today and look at buying several pairs from Il Regalo. I was using Fort Belvidere and I liked them and the green box they came in, but they were over $40 a pair and your suggestions seem every bit as nice if bot better and represent a better deal.
Great video as always! Quick question, been eyeing the Il regalos and mostly will purchase over the calf, but some of the mid calf socks are really speaking to me. When would you prefer to wear mid calf socks > Over the calf?
I think it's just a matter of convenience than any form of code. If I had something important going on where I want to be sure I don't want to deal with any sock issues, like an extended formal/social or work event or on stage where I'm walking/moving around a bunch or in front of people, I might do OTC just because I 100% know I won't have issues with them sliding down or anything like that. OTC is more cumbersome to put on in the morning though, so mid-calf would probably be for more casual days where it's not a big deal if I need to pull a sock up once in a while. I myself where midcalfs like 95% of the time. Plus midcalfs are generally cheaper, so I feel less anxiety about wearing them out.
What a wonderful video. So much information about luxury socks, and how they are made. Your collection is marvelous, and you model them so well. Thank you.
Now I know exactly what type of dress socks 🧦 to purchase and how to wear them the correct way thank you for the video on dress socks and how to pair them and wear them I only wear dress socks 🧦 and that’s all 😮great content 😊😊
This is amazing content. I am just glad to be one of the first subscribers before your channel blows up! Just this week, before watching your video, I had been planning to get myself my first pair of good dress socks from Mes chausettes rouge. Now, I'm overwhelmed with options about these many brands that you've introduced me to! Finally, can you recommend a good maker for a navy grenadine tie? Been wanting to get one of those as well - and since the price for a good tie is so much more, I'd like to know I'm getting my money's worth.
It's great to have you! Welcome. I will not forget your kindness for commenting on my small corner of RUclips here :) I sure hope it blows up! The best value for high-grade ties, in my opinion, is by far and away Sam Hober (no affiliation). In my other videos, you can see me wearing my Navy Grenadine tie from them - www.samhober.com/neckties/grenadine-ties/grenadine-grossa/grenadine-grossa-solid-silk-ties/soft-navy-blue-grenadine-grossa-silk-tie.html Cheaper than many other reputable haberdashers, and also fully bespoke. Honestly, it is an unbelievable hidden gem in terms of value. I have a few of his products. David (owner) seems like a really nice guy as well, from my interactions with him. You can read more about his story on the website. Make sure you read the 'how to order' guide if you choose to go with them - www.samhober.com/customties/ Also, this - www.styleforum.net/threads/a-sam-and-david-hober-tie-appreciation-thread.245529/
Hey - so I got the tie from Sam Hober, and I am really impressed at how good the value is for 100$! I wore it to work multiple days and received a bunch of compliments. David also personally reached out to me by email, and seemed great. Thank you for your recommendation! Keep up the great job with your videos!
I appreciate your support on every video, Sir. I would need to do some more extensive research to do a video on this. Along with the current timeline of videos planned, it may be some months yet before I can manage it. Nonetheless, I will make an effort to cover this topic at some point in the sooner-than-later future. Thank you, as always!
Thank you so much for this video, Definitely needed to hear this. I will definitely try Il Regalo socks. What other brand would you recommend as well. Thank you for inspiring me 🙏
Entertaining and so informative! I love this channel already. Subscribed. I also appreciate the links to companies that sell the products that you're talking about. "I got these from Amazon. I think I got 40 pairs for $1"...made me lol.
I find your videos very useful, I appreciate the fact that you not only talk about how to spot quality, but also where to obtain it from. I do however have a question: which of the over the calf socks would you recommend from Pedemeia? The pure cotton or cotton blend ones?
What do you think about socks from all natural materials like the $40 ones from Fort Belvedere? It seems that the beautiful Il Regalo socks include nylon. I am partial to natural materials generally speaking but I do understand that there are durability/stretchability considerations.
I've been wanting to upgrade my sock game and Il Regato seems like the answer! Thanks for al the great content! Can we get a video on Tie's next? Would love to see you take and recomendations on the subject
Absolutely, sir. Thank you for the comment and support! The next few videos are currently planned and will continue a focus on shoes, though I plan on shifting more into other realms of clothing such as suits and trousers as soon as Q1 2024. A full video on Ties is 100% on the list and is something I will definitely make happen for you!
Just found the channel! Awesome content and information! P.s. what do we think about London Sock Company??? I can’t get over their colors and styling. But have yet to pull the trigger because international shipping ain’t cheap!
Nice video about socks, pity there wasn't a little more information about sizes, I am only a size 7 and most of the socks that span a number of sizes are too big otherwise I would give il regalo socks a try. Pantherella have a better sizing choice including tailored to your foot sizes, and you can get sea island and mercerized Egyptian cotton, but the colour and pattern choice is limited. Another positive about the Pantherella is they can be thrown in with the rest of a 40degree wash, the ribbed come out misshapen because the ribbing compressors but you wouldn't know when you put them on.
I clicked on this having seen ads for Il Regalo and wondering if they were any good, this justified my purchase. However, it's a shame many of their socks are only in size 10 or lower. I do worry that as the bigger size goes up to 13 they might end up too large as my feet are an 11... Guess we'll see!
Fantastic video, Chris (if I may). I’ll definitely be upgrading my socks soon. Who makes that red tie you’re wearing in this video? It looks super sharp.
Hi Zach. Thank you for the kind words. I believe that is a Murano tie I got a long time ago. Not the nicest construction, though I like the pattern. Murano, I believe, is a Dillard's house brand, so nothing special. Most of my ties nowadays come from Sam Hober, which I consider the best value in the world for high-end ties. They are bespoke. There are other great companies, too, though. I very much appreciate Shibumi Firenze.
about to start a new big boy lawyer job and torn between Boardroom and Il Regalo. I wear a size 13 eee shoe. Price wise Regalo is a bit pricier, and had a worse return policy. Is Il Regalo THAT much better? Boardroom I am stuck with plain colors; Il Regalo has a few paisley stitched I could try. Whatcha think? (My last set of OTC socks was from a Turkish outfit and are like 10 years old..)
Il Regalo is indeed that much better. Sizing is hard to miss with socks due to their elastic nature. I don't think it hurts to maybe get a couple plain-color pairs from Boardroom just to see how you feel about them - you can always return. Then maybe when you are more comfortable about sizing, try ordering Il Regalo's patterned stuff. Boardroom is thicker and will likely last a little longer, so maybe plain Boardroom for everyday wear, then a couple Il Regalo patterned for special occasions.
Would you say Il Regato is worth the $4-5 upgrade over Boardroom Socks? How many pairs would you recommend if I were to replace all my cheap current socks?
I looked at the Boardroom and Il Regalo websites, and each one's full selection of over-the-calf socks. I have to say, the two companies are on completely different wavelengths. Boardroom has mostly solid colors, little variety in texture, then just a few patterns, including potentially kitschy ones e.g. American flags and Jolly Rogers. Il Regalo is closer to Bresciani in the range and type of colors and patterns, the latter using more variety of stripes and weaves (all abstract -- no flags here!), and overall more boldness in the types of colors and their combinations -- except that Il Regalo can be even bolder than Bresciani. Boardroom seems to aim at a very specific, seemingly stodgy (no offense meant, just how it strikes my taste) segment of the US market, while Regalo emulates a more modern, Italian taste.
Love your stuff. Checked my socks and my dress socks met your criteria ... except ... above the calf. From the arse end of the world this seems to be a North American thing, although i can't see Canadians going for it, except for thermals, Above the calf seems to be a tad prudish, a splash obsessive, a trifle stocking-ish. In fact, a bit girlish, if I'm allowed say so. Twee possibly. No judgment implied, just an observation.
It appears so, though historically they also had a large option which with 10+. I suggest emailing them, as perhaps they are just in the process of restocking.
@@Industry.Purity Thanks for the quick response. By the way, great videos. Entertaining and informative. And extra high marks for using proper grammar 😂
WARNING. I bought like half a dozen of dress socks from Il Regalo most of them made of cotton. The leaflet they sent with the parcel says their cotton and linen socks can be machine-washed in washing net. After 2 washes per instruction inside very densely knitted washing net in the most gentle setting (Delicate) in my Whirlpool washer, many socks literally broke apart. Unless you have time to hand wash them every time, they are not recommended. They were beautifully made for sure but they also require care beyond what manufacturer claimed.
Thanks for sharing. You should contact them and see what they say. That shouldn't happen and has not happened to mine and I always machine wash cold. They come out looking a little shriveled and sad after the first wash, but that didn't affect use, size, or fit in my experience.
High-gauge socks like those offered at Il Regalo and Pantherella will be the closest you get to 'sheer' among proper dress socks, hence being referred to as such. To achieve a true 'sheer' - what you might find in women's stockings - is close to impossible unless using strictly 100% Polyamide material. The see-through quality of truly 'sheer' material would also just not be very appropriate for classic menswear. High-gauge socks (200+), will be the closest you get to 'sheer' without crossing over that line.
@@Industry.PurityI honestly don't know much about the theme, but I understand that "sheer socks" were widely used in the past, my dad used them, especially in the United States or in some parts of Europe (also in China and Japan) Just, like other fashions, they became exclusively for women. They are still used even though it is no longer part of the standard I think.
@@nico.rr17 Thank you for adding this. I was a bit short in my original comment. This is great context, though. I tend toward more contemporary iterations of classic style, so sheer socks are not particularly on my personal radar. I agree that sheer socks for men are probably on their way out from a style standpoint - partly due to their conflation with being a 'women's' item (not that it should matter) - hence why I do not have much to say about them. It would be an exaggeration to say they are 'not appropriate' as I originally did, though, given they are entirely appropriate from a recent historical perspective and still currently among certain groups. I appreciate you adding that perspective.

I find your videos very useful, I appreciate the fact that you not only talk about how to spot quality, but also where to obtain it from. I do however have a question: which of the over the calf socks would you recommend from Pedemeia? The pure cotton or cotton blend ones?
I personally prefer a bit of blend with polyester/nylon because the stretch really helps with fit and staying up through the day.
Those cervelt socks would make an ideal stocking stuffer.
What do you think about socks from all natural materials like the $40 ones from Fort Belvedere? It seems that the beautiful Il Regalo socks include nylon. I am partial to natural materials generally speaking but I do understand that there are durability/stretchability considerations.
For 100% natural, I suggest Mes Chaussettes Rouges in France. They have amazing socks from Italian makers. Only around $20 a pair, too.
@@Industry.Purity I was more asking for your opinion on all natural vs blends.
@@jakeh.8754 Ah, I see. I prefer blends just because of the fit and durability. Personal preference. I'd still be happy if all I had was all-natural.
The amount of nylon is quite small, simply meant to provide stretch so the socks hug the leg and don't sag.

The Bresciani website says "shipping in UK and Europe only."
For worldwide shipping, you can find them, along with a few other European makers at LMR.

about to start a new big boy lawyer job and torn between Boardroom and Il Regalo.
@@Industry.Purity they have a sweet sale rn! about to order some! thanks!
This video was everything I needed
Would you say Il Regato is worth the $4-5 upgrade over Boardroom Socks? How many pairs would you recommend if I were to replace all my cheap current socks?
My apologies for the delay. Yes, 100% worth the upgrade. How many pairs is a personal question and depends on how often you wear them.
Love your personality ❤. Thank you
❤
have you ever seen fort belvedere socks from the gentleman's gazette?
Fun video!
Hernoso y elegante y sexy detalle de los calcetines! Love it! ❤️😍❤️
I love otc socks ❤
I wonder if there are any socks that dont contain plastic qhat so ever? I have a hard time finding socks like that.
Mes Chaussettes Rouges has 100% natural fiber. They are a great store.
The Il Regalos look great but the website only offers size US 7-10. Am I searching incorrectly or is that their only size?
It appears so, though historically they also had a large option which with 10+. I suggest emailing them, as perhaps they are just in the process of restocking.
@@Industry.Purity Thanks for the quick response. By the way, great videos. Entertaining and informative. And extra high marks for using proper grammar 😂
Very nice, that is exactly what I need now.
Great to see you again. Glad you liked it!
Idk what I find interesting watching you in otc socks 😅 . I liked the patterns . Alao most of men are afraid using otc socks. They think is for nerds.
I have a visual impairment, and the Corgi website was complex for me to navigate; what a shame.
What shoes did you wear in this video?
Beckett Simonon's Cohen Loafers in Oak. They are one of my favorites! www.beckettsimonon.com/products/cohen-loafers?rfsn=7785546.5a1e2d&
I roll my dress socks, and secure each pair with a rubber band. This way, I don’t have to take inordinate care removing a pair from the drawer.
The best socks are the "Fort Belvedere" socks.
As a woman, guy stuff amazes me. And they think we're complicated.
If all it takes to make you happy is a $25 sock, then you, sir, are a cheap date and likely easy to get drunk.
Lol
15:00 Why does this man have five limbs?
You did not mention anything about sheer socks, also you should show you wearing the socks with out the shoes on.
Black, brown and dark blue. Save yourself time
Talk about sheer socks
