Like the tires stick on the road witb a constant amount of grip until it slips once and the whole thing loses ttaction as opposed to video games where they probably slip earlier, but have more traction while sliding. except project cars is a bad simulator hahah. it is widely known in the sim community as the fakest simulator branded game out there currently available. real sim racers stay the fuck away from that fake shit.

    • @miagi1337
      @miagi1337 7 лет назад +45

      How can that be? AC works by look up tables mostly. If you care you can find explanations by the developer that AC actually doesn't simulate that much.
      I use the log data from iRacing and prospect it with MoTeC software, comparing the histogram of steering wheel angle to lateral force, from iRacing to real world data, I have to say iRacing tire physics looks pretty cheap and fake to me. Another point is, it's easy to guess that iRacing tire temperatures are just faked and not simulated based on driving in real time.
      To my observation, "sim racers" know very little about proper vehicle dynamic simulation and even less can calculate suspensions. I can and I used an industry level Vehicle Dynamics software. And from that experience and numerous frustrations I can tell you, pCARS is pretty damn good simulation even on industrial level. The suspension in pCARS is properly simulated based on hard points what is accurate for race cars. Road cars have rubber bushings, they are probably not well simulated but that is something that is extremely troublesome to simulated even for car makers and you can be sure that iRacing or AC doesn't even dream about bothering with that. And pCARS tire model with its heat system is ahead of any industrial level Pacejka model.
      Just to test your own simulation knowledge, if you never heard the word "Pacejka" before and never worked with a Pacejka model, you can be sure that you do not know much about tire simulation.
      There are a few things or rather certain driving situation where it's noticeable that pCARS simulation is missing some delay that in real life is always there due to compliance. Compliance is extremely difficult or extremely CPU costly to simulate in real time! That is the drawback of pCARS simulating so much and not faking results. However even F1 simulators don't simulate chassis compliance properly in real time.
      AC doesn't have this problem so much as they by far don't simulate that much and rather fake the result with look up tables that they tweak till the car drives as they think it should. I don't have any hard feelings about that, it's a legitimate approach esp. seeing that desktop pcs don't have infinite cpu power. However it also has drawbacks. In pCARS the devs can put any tire on any car and the simulation will do something with it, sometimes even something very interesting! AC can't do it because any tire change needs tweaking of the look up tables so that the car does what it should do, what can be pretty work intensive.
      So in short words, pCARS has a model that simulates the outcome. Put something in on the front and possibly something educative will come out.
      AC is all about creating a car behaviour that the devs desire and think it is realistic. They will do and tweak whatever they need until the huge spreadsheets puts out the numbers that make the car drive as they want.
      Because of that I'm very surprised any time someone says pCARS is a fake sim because based on the true meaning of simulation AC produces fake results that are tweaked to be as realistic as possible while pCARS actually simulates a lot.
      Every time I hear something like that, I'd ask to ask this "widely known sim community" where they get their knowledge of vehicle dynamics simulation from and why they say pCARS it's a fake simulation.

I know guys that have been sim racing for over 8 years and have done amateur racing and they have tried P.cars and they all said it was the fakest sim branded game they ever tried. i am not even gonna read half of that shit you might as well be playing Need for speed. keep kidding yourself . post muted. i am not gonna even mention the good sims you dont deserve to know.

    • @miagi1337
      @miagi1337 7 лет назад +40

      Wow here is someone that is focused on only spreading his buns when doing a post and not contributing anything helpful. It's the sad example of a "sim racer" that thinks he knows everything but knows pretty much nothing about Vehicle Dynamics in the first place, still is ready to spit on anything but that one sim he thinks is gods answer to the genre. Nearly always not because he thinks it drives realistic but because, and that is the most common reason, someone on the internet that says he is racing for real said it's no good.
      Well there are enough other ppl that race in real life and have a different and more sophisticated opinion. Because that's the thing with opinions everyone has one. Quite a few ppl that race in real life can enjoy pCARS, we have 2-3 in our community that are actively racing or were very engaged into doing track days. Also there are several professional drivers that can enjoy pCARS too. Ben Collins and Rene Rast are two of them. And Ben Collins drove nearly everything that has wheels and is fun or expensive. From my contacts to race engineers I can tell you that most race drivers have little knowledge about Vehicle Dynamics, it's something that they do, but not deeply understand. Some drivers can give great feedback, other drivers don't notice the change of kinematics on the rear axis. We are talking about Professional Race drivers here that have more than 8 years experience. Because of that, you mentioning someone that does amateur racing for 8 years doesn't impress me a bit.
      But well no matter what, the "hardcore simracer" can always relay on that one random opinion that he likes most.
      You say I don't deserve to know what a *really good* sim is. First thing, that attitude is what stops ppl from joining or enjoying sim racing. Because way too many (wannabe) hardcore sim racer experts wear their nose so high up they are breathing thin air. It's ppl like you that are hurting the sim racing community more than doing anything good for it. Second, it is childish and embarrassing on top. Third who are you trying to fool?
      You should have just admitted that you have no sustain knowledge of Vehicle Dynamics and have your opinion from someone on the internet that you adapted your opinion too.
      You really should try to reduce your negativity, it will not get you anywhere in life. Also saying that a sim-racing game is not a simulation racing game because not all tracks are laser scanned just shows a sad attitude towards fun. The mindset of "If it is not A than I can't possibly enjoy it!" is just so sad and joyless. I nearly feel sorry for you. The only ppl that would really care about that are professional race drivers that are going to race their soon and try to practice the track to perfection. But even that isn't right because a track can get retarmaced or bumps can be milled off from time to time so there is no guarantee that the laser scan is still the current state of the track.
      However a good simulation will have a good result no matter if the tracks are laser scanned or (not license) fantasy tracks.

    Should be a little early brake, near bend frequent dot brake so that the tire heat conduction ground more, so that better to maintain the ground grip, tire too hot, resulting in the tire grip when out of the bend down, afraid of side slip, no confidence to refuel ahead of time
