Thanks for the video. Very nice of them to send some parts to you. I put a extended shifter lever on the KLR I had. It took care of the having to big a boot problem. And it was low priced. Make Every Ride An Adventure

Always surprised when I go out on adv roads I’ve not been on previously, mostly good, sometimes not so good. Finding some amazing views are the good, finding those roads that are technically challenging, sometimes not so good!!

Yeah man, I'm interested in the peg lowering kit. I wear a size 13 and could use some extra room. The only mods I've done so far are windshield risers and tank pads. (Saw them on your bike) 😉 ...oh yeah got the little tusk bar pad too.
****I have many nice and quiet paved country roads nearby here in the farmlands of the Carolinas as well as dirt and gravel roads, however sand is the situation that I have to watch out for. Sometimes a nice groomed and packed dirt road can have areas of unexpected fluffy sand that can be pretty shaky. On a recent exploration ride, I turned down an unknown dirt road that was nice and packed and then turned into very thick sand for a long distance. I had to stand up on the pegs and fan the rear quite a bit. I tried to convince myself that I was confident, and it was partly fun, and admittedly partly unsettling. I took note of the particular road and plan to avoid it. (I grew up on dirtbikes in western PA, but that was a long time ago, and also the terrain of PA is more hard dirt and clay...not loose sand) So the basic skills for riding in sand haven't really been ingrained in me.
***also I'm seeing quite a few deer as many of these dirt roads are winding through swamps and secluded fields of various crops.
I always take these roads at a leisurely pace, but I believe I will get some crashbars(also to mount driving lights on my Traveler)
...just to note, I recently spent quite a bit of time riding a visiting family members BMW R18 and was pretty shocked at the stock peg/shifter situation. I could only shift using the side of my boot and stock heel shifter was very high and out of position.

Now this has me intrigued! I live 35 miles from anywhere and there are a ton of dirt roads out here. Lord help me if I go to a dealer ah, er, Tuesday. I am too old, convince me. ... Bob

It’s definitely a lot of fun Bob as long as you’re really just staying on the dirt roads and maybe some gravel stuff. I am definitely not a single track type of guy, but this is a lot of fun.

Idk bob, I’m 63 and love the ole klr. My klr is half as old as me, 1991 model and I have a blast on it. I take it single track two track gravel roads and paved and highway, all with no problems. You’ll love it.

Almost 3k on my KLR. Ordered a Shinko 705 rear going to need it soon. So far my bike remains stock except the windshield riser. Thanks and I appreciate your videos being new to the KLR too.

Went by my local KLR dlr in Miami to see if I could score their last '23 model for $5800 out the door, the salesman was a dweeb & wouldn't bite, I know they don't sell many here, but he is a new guy, he'll learn.

Was that a base model? Mine is a traveler with ABS and I think I was out the door for 7200 maybe. Good luck in finding one.

Love my 2023 Adventure so far,
BTW I see that you’ve raised your windshield a lot, does it make a noticeable difference on your riding? I’m guessing it’s better?

I’m glad you’re liking the bike and I just put a set of $20 risers on it, like it a lot better

@@bodeanaventures ...just chiming in on my thoughts on the risers.
I'm 6'0". When riding stock, I took my hand and tested where wind was hitting and noted it was right at eye level. With the risers the wind is going over the top of my helmet. I wear a full-face with shield and there is a difference, however I would think that riding with no helmet or an open ADV or moto style helmet the difference would be greatly magnified.
***there is a slight Con in my opinion. With stock windshield, my direct line of sight is fully over the windshield all the way to the very front of the bike. With the risers, my line of sight is over the windshield normally, however to look at road surfaces closer to the front tire, I am looking through the top of the windshield. It's just something to note. I really don't notice it with my normal riding on blacktop and dirtroads, but it does come in to play when one wants to "split" an obstacle or one wants to see the very front of the bike.
