Once I was feeling a bit low cursing life and its hardships and my mom told me "why dont you learn from itchy boots. Being a woman she travels alone on treacherous tracks and enjoys life. Buck up and learn something". Epiphany hit me positively and itchy boots videos teach us to be free spirited, adventurous, happy, joyful and thankful to Lord for such beautiful life and cherish its wonders much like Norally. Thanks.

The donkey looked like a modern donkey, so that painting was less than 6k-years old without doubt, nowhere near the 100k statement. Plus, I'm sure that so far the oldest painting discovered is in Spain and it's only 64k years old.

@@davidbrand6633 Yes, the Homo sapiens finds from Omo in SW Ethiopia are 200-190 thusand years old. There are at least two finds with possibly older Homo sapiens finds; The Florisbad skull (South Africa) and Jebel Irhoud 1-5 (Morocco). There are two problems with these type of human skulls. They are all intermediate forms between Homo sapiens and older Homo species, so it's mainly about how many traits do they need to share with modern humans to be counted as Homo sapiens. The famous Turkana Boy (a.k.a. Nariokotome Boy) from N Kenya is at least 1.5 million years old, and his body is almost identical to a modern human, so the only major difference is the skull with a much smaller brain. His species is called Homo ergaster (a.k.a. African Homo erectus). The other problem is the reliability of the datings and that reliability varies a lot. I recently saw a video with Lee Berger (Paleoanthropology professor at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg) and he was very sceptical to the reliability of the dating of the Florisbad skull.
Back to the question if humans could have painted things 100,000 years ago. At the moment the oldest known painting is in a cave in Spain. This painting is at least 64,000 years old and was probably made by a Neanderthal (Homo neanderthalensis a.k.a. Homo sapiens neanderthalensis). My guess is that within a few decades we will find art that is dated to at least 500,000 years ago and made by humans that nowadays are known as Homo heidelbergensis.
BTW, I am a retired archeologist from Sweden with an interest in Paleoanthropology, but my main subject professionally has been the Scandinavian Neolithic.

Wow, how it has all changed in 20 years Noraly. The road out to Tsodilo was one of the most challenging 4x4 sand tracks in Botswana, even the road from Shakawe to Toteng. Glad that you do not have to struggle with those conditions. Pity you were not able to have a more rewarding experience at Tsodilo. Safe travels.

What I LOVE above the "home" ground, is that, although there are MANY opportunities to "complain" about how things happen and are "run", the "worst" comment has been "Oh well, that took a while / little longer than expected" and NO criticism of what you have to endure. Compared to some others who struggle to keep their sarcasm, criticism, "comparison" silent. Which Is why I LOVE following - - although I giggle at the "innocence" of the traveller in this strange [to some] world of Africa. RIde On Noraly, Ride ON.

Noraly, you really have become a savvy traveler. Researching your interests, creating videos and editing them on the fly, so they flow seamlessly. You make it interesting and educational so it makes very good sense. I don't see how a guide would have made much difference. A Big Thumbs Up for your channel Noraly, you are doing a fantastic job of factually revealing the things you discover and making me feel like I am right there experiencing it with you. Yes Yes Yes. Thank you for such a professional delivery. I hope this never gets old for you, and you ride on forever. ben/ michigan

Watching you avoid potholes reminded me of when I drove a truck. The joke was that the roads were so bad they were going to put gravel on them to improve them. 😁 I can see the truth in that statement now.
The paintings and area were beautiful and unique even if the guide service was lacking. As always an entertaining and interesting video. Thanks!!!
