Interesting to notice the petrol attendant holding his right arm with his left hand, when he handed you your change. Very traditional way of showing that he means you no harm and is respectful. At a guess an influence of his grandmother. Very good to see the traditions being kept.

When that gentleman at the petrol station took money for fuel, observe that his left arm is on top on his extended right arms inner elbow and the opposite for when he’s giving back change. It is a humbling gesture that also shows appreciation, and when giving back the change its a big thank you. And shows the respect especially to elders or strangers! 😭😭🇧🇼🇧🇼miss home

Wow! Lake Ngami. What an awesome place. David Livingstone described Lake Ngami as a "shimmering lake" back in 1849. He also made a few notes about the people living there, he noticed they had a story similar to that of the Tower of Babel, except that the builders' heads were "cracked by the fall of the scaffolding" (Livingstone's book "Missionary Travels"). There is even a methane lake on Saturn's moon Titan, named Ngami Lacuna after Lake Ngami.

"So what are you looking for?" - A question I have often heard, when I backpacked around Africa and Asia in the 90-ies. People go from A to B for a reason. To buy something or to see family or to get to a clinic or to work. Travel in most countries is a burden and the concept of traveling - purely for the joy of seeing places - surprises many. It is also a luxury that not everybody can afford.
So let´s all appreciate & enjoy this luxury - especially if it´s through Noraly´s blue eyes.
    Safe travels, Noraly!

Itchy Boots, just came across your channel, I went out with a Dutch girl once who was very much like yourself, fearless & with balls bigger than most guys I know. I'm currently looking to buy a 2018 Africa Twin dct to spend 6 months touring on next year once I get my funding finished, so I can tie up all my loose ends here in U.k.
So it looks like I'll be watching all your postings as to where to go, & do's & don'ts, plus all the knowledge you've gained on your travels. You stay safe, young lady, & happy trails to you.
It's taken too many years for me to be in a position to do this as I'm the wrong side of 60 now, & as it's No.1 on my bucket list, then why not? My son says, if he was a doctor he'd have me committed, lol, but does completely understand. Regards.....Urban Geeze.

    • @macalacalan1175

G’day Urban. My advice to you would be NOT to get an Africa Twin. They are FAR bigger than 99% of riders need and certainly for someone 60+. I’m 66 and riding my sixth motorcycle in 50 years - a Honda CB500x (2015 model) - the same as that which Norally rode in Holland. It’s the sweetest, most comfortable, reliable, versatile (60% on road, 40% off road) and economical (@ 70 mpg) motorcycle I’ve ever ridden - and heaps less expensive than (probably half the cost of) the massive Africa Twin. Heaps of useful accessories are available (check out SW Motech for great range of gear - especially their panniers - suitable for most bikes including the CB 500x). I’ve ridden 20,000 km on mine here in Western Australia since I bought it two years ago and she’s absolutely awesome. In three weeks time I’ll be doing an @ 2,000 km spring meandering ride with a mate throughout the SW of WA - and my CB 500X will do the job easily as well as an Africa Twin. If you buy the AT I’d agree wholeheartedly with your son - but not if you buy the 500x - and especially a 2019 inclusive onwards model with the 19” front wheel and several other improved features (Honda first released them in 2013). Plus you’d be able to spend the money you saved on accessories and accommodation etc. Moreover, they hold their value. Good luck.

Noraly has (pardon the pun) a world of experience to draw from in her videos. I have been watching from S1 ep1 and have learnt much more than I bargained for. This cookie is very shrewd & does heaps of research off camera & doesn’t take any risks.
I have to say as a biker of over 45 years, like you no doubt, I imagined bigger to be better for touring but as she has proved to most of us know it alls a smaller bike often can do the job every bit as well and will be much easier to handle & gives more mpg!
I also realised that you need to factor in spares availability in the countries you visit too.
I wish you well in your travels and wish I could come along too - ride safe!

Noraly, what ever you do in Maun... You have to go out into the swamp or should I say the Delta. Even if its for a short Mokoro ride... Its absolutely a must. If you lucky enough and they do the power boat you will be in for a treat. Highly recommend it. Now it all depends what the levels look like and if they even doing tourist trips... And if traveling South towards SA you have to hit those salt pans... Its breathtaking... Enjoy and safe travels

I'm not much of a birder (bird watcher) but Botswana is a great birding destination. It has something like 500 to 600 bird species. Watching Fish Eagles in the Okavango Delta was a real treat when I was there on vacation back in 1998. The Lilac-Breasted Roller is absolutely gorgeous.

Lake Ngami was completely dry for many years. However, like the Okavango swamps, water levels are seasonal, depending on rains further north. Water for Lake Ngami is overspill from the swamps, via Maun.
If it's not too late/expensive, try to fly in to Delta Camp and go out for a few days in a mokoro.
Be careful riding in the bush. At the speeds you're going, the risk of a serious collision with an animal is high.
