- In this episode I am exploring the area around Maun, in Botswana. I'm trying to find my way to the poling station, from where I want to take a local canoe over the river. Little did I know it was an absolute maze of tracks and swamps everywhere... Then I decide to visit an elephant sanctuary, but to reach it, I have to cross not one, not two, not three, but four scary bridges. And that's only one way...

I don’t know about anyone else, but, I am exhausted just watching this episode, lol.
Videos like this can only be made by Noraly - she never gets upset and always has a positive attitude. Her videos just keep getting better and better.
I 👍
Tries to get somewhere but ends up going everywhere ending up on a boat tour. Wonderful. .. Always an unexpected adventure. This is what makes Itchy Boots the best adventure travel blog ever. Thank you Noraly.
This has been an amazing journey for me too. It was nearly 50 years ago when I visited Maun and took the trip via mokoro into the swamp. We were a party of four and rented
two boats and camped two nights in the swamp. At that time we could get into the boats just on the outskirts of the town and paddle up the river. Our guides caught fish for us
to boil with rice for our evening meals. We would swim in the cool clear water but had to watch for snakes. The birdlife was wonderful. In my spare time I rode by Honda CL 175 Scrambler between Francistown and Gaborone (A1) on mostly gravel and sand roadway, well before it was paved. If it is safe to travel via Zimbabwe to Victoria Falls, that would be a worthwhile trip. I visited the falls three times during my time in Botswana.
I really can't get over how mellow and laid back you are when up against "issues", if I had been riding that it would have been swearing, frustration and and huge amounts of sweating then rescue services and drama... You really do show us the Way. We all salute you Noraly 👍😊
You get used to it over time. The more trouble hits you the more relaxed you become over time simply because you have learned to overcome the previous struggles. But yeah, she is extra relaxed it seems, haha. Good vibes!
One of the many things i have learnt on this channel
Me too, I would have cried after crossing those bridges!!
Noraly never fails to entertain us with her riding attitude. Whatever comes before her path be it elephants lions hippos and now wooden bridges, she always take up the challenge. We all sure felt like out of breadth seeing Noraly riding n pushing Savannah through those bridges. Way to go girl n thanks to the boys for helping you n Savannah passed through safely.
Today's video really highlighted what adventure riding really means. It means that even having to walk the bike across a sketchy bridge becomes the adventure. You had me on the edge of my seat watching this. I was worried for your safety the whole way.
So DANGEROUS..What Ur doing..
@@renadocasimiro what danger are you actually talking about? I don’t see any danger in this video. Just be careful and have no fear 😃
I'm enjoying this adventure vicariously in a comfortable easy chair in the living room of my house.
It's coming up to winter but what we're once four clearly recognised season's, the are now just two. Climate change apparently and we're just going to have to get used to this.
Equinoxes bring strong winds not quite gale force powering through Cook Strait the 25 miles of sea that separate the two main islands: Te Waipounamu and Te Wai Maui. European setters preferred the more prosaic; North and South Island respectively and so they changed their names to what they are now.
Noraly, with every episode you bring Africa out of the fog of my imagination into rich scenes of Africans, African wild life and their precious world! For me, your destination is better understanding of our world - and here’s to us all getting ever closer….
That was a proper obstacle course. Well done Noraly.
Thanks!! 🤪 glad I didn’t skid off those bridges haha!
@@ItchyBoots Be happy not to ride a heavier and bigger bike. Even a Honda Africa Twin would be fair to big for such a demanding ride.
@@ItchyBoots That could have turned into a very bad day. I am happy everything worked out for you.Good luck to you.
Holy moly, I was sweating watching you on those bridges! .... and then ..... what an amazing adventure this is. Fabulous.
@@ItchyBoots This and Sani Pass REALLY need to have anxiety warnings! LOL!! All of us were sitting on the edge of our seats sweating bullets and cheering for you every step of the way. God Bless you Noraly!!
Not sand, swamp, water traps or wooden log bridges deter you and prevent you from bringing us an adventurous episode. The ending was so peaceful and serene on the water. The water lily and the Tilapia swimming off after being given its freedom were a nice touch after all the harrowing times.
Very scary bridges! What a day indeed: practicing riding in sand, orienteering, and crossing narrow wooden bridges :). Lovely peaceful ending
Good job , you didnt give up but found the poloing lace and had a kanoe ride as well .
Arrghhh, my shoulders and back are aching from trying to help Noraly cross those bridges!😮😂 Wow, she's a champion. Thanks to those men and boys who helped, too! This had a beautiful ending with the adorable Sparks and his boat.☺
"Take a detour... Discover small towns and friendly faces that don't grow along the highway." I have been enjoying going along with Noraly and Savanah through the journey in Southern Africa from the comfort of my couch.
I am shaking my head in absolute amazement. Even if you think it was a bust, to me it was great You are showing us the world. There are no words for my appreciation. :-)
Noraly! WOW!!! While we did not really see a lot this was one of the most edge-of-the-seat episodes. I am so glad you made it through all that safely and in one piece. NOTHING stops you. What an adventure. And after all that you get on a makoro in riding gear and no life jacket. You are a part Wonderwoman, part David Attenborough and fully fearless. I was so sorry for you that after all that the elephant sanctuary was closed. And of course, you take it in stride and laugh and smile it off. May you always ride in peace and safety.
An amazing woman on an amazing adventure. Talent, courage, curiosity, grit and humor. This channel is addicting!
Noraly last time: "I can't cross the bridge on those rails."
This time: "Hold my beer!"
As the poet said, "The best laid plans of mice and men go oft awry". But I notice you didn't give up and finally got to go Venice-style into the shallows. I was really happy to see another 30 min video so soon, too. THANKS!
No mission impossible today , another day maybe. Probably not ! Echt goed Noraly !
Yes my sentiments also , Noraly looked like she was on a Pagola in Venice
Correction *gondola *
The children are a gift! So warm, welcoming and helpful. Every episode is fulfilling. Thanks, Noraly, Savanah.
Core of our nation natured from young age to know that you have to help one another without expecting anything in return, sincere genuine loving small nation.🇧🇼
You had me sitting on pins and needles going over those log bridges. Slow and easy doesn't always guarantee safe passage. But you did an awesome job. Well done.
The last few minutes made all the tension along the way worth it. I don't know about others watching these videos but when Noraly is challenged I get nervous... a funny thing since she is so remarkably resilient. I know we all love that about her... but at times she takes risks that have my heart in my throat. But that sweet, gentle young man and his boat saved the day. Wow! Lotus flowers and all...
I hopefully speak for your other followers Noraly and without trying too sound negative please be careful out there ! Your content is always excellent but we realise the amount of work it takes to make it interesting and none of us will ever be disappointed if something you planned for us doesn’t workout. We know you won’t be defeated and your determination is outstanding but I think I’m right in saying we want you and this is paramount to stay safe at all cost.
Well done Noraly 👍
I absolutely second that Ray Pusey.
This is exactly why your there and I’m just sat here watching. TOTAL respect.
Have always been a heavyweight touring bike rider however, you have inspired me to get a dual sport and explore the unpaved and unimproved regions of the world
I promise you, you won’t regret it!! 😋💪
Here in Thailand a lot of guys who like to explore off the beaten track go for CRF’s, but recently another friend has bought a Kawasaki 155 off-roader which he got cheap at the auctions. Definitely small engines with lightweight bikes are the way to go. Look how far Noraly has come on her CRF. I have a 300X, but the twin cyl engine is too high reving, the single CRF much better.
@@ragbag46 Year, I ride a Kawasaki KLX 250 E single cylinder Enduro, 130 kg and it is nearly like a bicycle on difficult roads through the forests here in Sweden. So I can imagine the difficulties of Noralys trip.
Three days ago I got a dual sport and had a mini Itchy Boots adventure… flew two hours to a buy the bike… rode 1 1/2 hours on a beautiful remote road in northern Canada to a ferry where I had to strap the bike down for a 15 hour ride south… then drove 5 hours in the rain half way to my parents place. Then today it was a beautiful ride along the coast for several hours to my parents home. I will rest for a couple days then drive to another ferry for a short 1 1/2 ride and a short drive to my home! Over 650kms all because I watch Itchy Boots and know such a trip is possible! Thanks for the inspiration. My first kms on a street bike!
@@ragbag46 I got myself a new Honda CT150 instead of an African Twin or big touring bike. Seemed a logical choice. I have no need or desire for speed now, not in a hurry. Just looking for adventure :-)
Hi Noraly just a small suggestion to consider. The children has always the anticipation of a sweetie when opening gates for you on the road or when they come near when you stop. It just makes their day and light up those young faces. We enjoy you so much, keep safe.
They only expect a sweetie because the biker before you gave them a sweetie. Please don't do that.
@@robzilla69 that's a perfect non sequitur, well done!
3 Times a week I find myself in a situation where I can not stop smiling. Thank you Loraly.
Thanks so much Jerry!! Happy to hear my videos make you smile 😊😊
What a great episode! My day doesn't feel complete until I've watched Noraly's next adventure :)
Man, the incredible Noraly doesn’t seem to know the meaning of the word ‘fear’! My heart was in my mouth when she was crossing those makeshift bridges!
A-ma-zing, you are a true adventure rider Noraly! Riding on these beam bridges is very tricky, something that requires practice. I'm glad you did the sensible thing and walked slowly over them. I can feel how sweaty it must have felt in your gear! Hope the canoe ride was a more relaxing finish of the day. More luck next day!
Your natural ability for presentation at times is spellbinding, your positivity and enthusiasm is a real tonic . Keep it up...
Noraly! Nothing gets you under! Pick up the mokoro "driver" and off we go to end with a stunning view on the water!!
Just how fantastic is this adventure... Miss Norely you are out of this world!!! 🔝🔝🔝
I am often astonished and admire your sense of adventure and willingness to keep moving forward. This was excellent...
I have to admit, those "bridges" would have turned me around. I thought you were going to loose it on the first one. Turn back now? Not Noraly! You are the epitome of courage.
It really amazes me how you know how to pronounce the local language (Setswana) 👌🏾It really helps...Botswana is an amazing tourism country,We are happy to have an amazing tourist like you.
This is the first time after watching this channel for two years that I was legitimately worried about Noraly. I never would have attempted crossing a bridge like that. Very impressive!
Same.
The logs running like corduroy...maybe...but I worried that the lengthwise ruts might throw her.
The bridge crossings were an unnecessary risk. Too easy to fall between the timbers, break a leg or destroy a knee. Noarly said on another episode that she can swim but her moto cannot swim.
The good part about seeing you videos is, we know you came “home” safely to upload them… damn that looked like a struggle today!
I also take comfort in that acknowledgement . However, even though we logically know that, it's still very stressful to watch her go through it.
That's exactly what my daughter said when I was getting really nervous watching you on those bridges 😂
Nice ride, scary bridges... Brave girl! Pole Bridges, yikes. I have been riding most of my life and pole bridges are still unnerving. I love the people that you run across, goat herders, canoe pilot, children wanting to help you across the bridge. What an adventure you take me on. I get to watch through The eyes of your cameras.
Long ago when you were in the Himalayas and you ended up oxygen deprived, I was gasping with you. The tiptoeing across the pole bridge officially put you on my prayer list. You are about the age of my children. So now it is God bless my children and God bless itchy boots... Protect her from the mean bridges.
This part of the country is so sandy and similar to my home village in Namibia😍
@@akjk1990 👋🏿 hi
When the planet becomes a small area, your power of creativity becomes a tangible thing of the present ,and your resourcefulness shows that in everyday, Noraly love ♥️ you
That was a most excellent adventure!
Here in Finland where I live, probably also elsewhere, when hunting mallards in shallow waters they also use a mokoro type boat. Also pushed forward with a stick. Usually made from thin plywood or fibreglass.
I've got nothing that already hasn't been said about you Noraly so I'll just say........WOW! An amazing women you are!
Only one woman...
@@gerhardvanderwesthuizen842 That's incorrect... she is many women in one... a bike rider, a geologist, an adventurer, an explorer, a humanist, an icon, an idol to follow... so many women in one!
I just discovered your videos.
I'm amazed. I'm afraid of so much. Even watching your videos I get nervous...lol
I don't know how you are so brave and so laid back and confident.
I admire you so much! ❤
Be safe and I find myself praying for your protection in all your travels...❤
Oh Noraly! Indeed what a day it is! But I enjoyed the ride, hands up on your level of determination that sometimes it just makes me laugh😅 That's why I love itchyboots, because when I am about to give up, I just need an extra dose of Noraly's perseverance💪
When your old and grey and not able to do this anymore, what memories you will have and what things you will have experience , and you took so many who never could have those experiences with you on those journeys . This is just like reading an encyclopaedia but seeing and virtually being there. Thank you.
,
This was a true off roading experience...Things never work properly...That's why I started getting feeling in Namibia that you were getting constant guidance because as an off road rider myself it looked too easy...this is what off roading is...and in a maze like this put signs for yourself like stone or tree, if you are in solo or in group..
Noraly rides over elephant poo. 🐘 Sometimes in life, everybody encounters this (metaphorically). Solution.... keep on riding. Try not to fall over in it. Savannah would not have liked carrying the elephant. Great job over the bridges, Noraly! Had to be a little scary. Too bad about the closure. All part of the adventure. 😎
You and that little Honda unafraid and unstoppable, I was cringing on the deep sand and the bridge, Wow.!!
"We are currently closed for maintenance." That made me laugh out loud. Especially after the tension of those bridge crossings.
They miss a free advertisement.
I guess there's some truth to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe:
"You’re not traveling in order to arrive but in order to travel"
The most nail biting episode with a beautiful boat ride in the end ❤️
Its not the destination, its the Journey that counts. have a safe trip
That was some "adventure". "Person" handling a bike across a narrow bridge with iffy footing. A mis-step away from disaster!! Truly awesome Miss ItchyBoots. Even more Respect.
Noraly. You have become a sand surfer extraordinaire. Remember the days when you were quite stressed with sand and now you just nail it. Such a legend. I hope I eventually become better in sand. I'm still a nervous Nellie. Thanks for another great vlog.
i was shaking my head don't do it ......but nothing ever stops you !!! whatever drives you,, I want some too !!!! we all do .. no fear no stress, what a wonderful perspective you have you,, have a strength we all need to get back .....
That was quite a freaky riding on all these roads, though it was a lot of fun riding adventures. Love your coverage.
A Surprise ending! How lovely!
"IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED TRY TRY AGAIN " NORALY ...THE EPITEMY OF PRESISTANCE!! WOW THANKS 😊 ☺ 🙏 🙂 💓
Noraly, You improve each time you post a video. Your technical and difficult riding skills and confidence improve with each adventure. Those bridges couldn't stop you, and even the sand seems to be less and less unpleasant for you to ride in. You are an amazing rider, and one whose adventures I look forward to following on into the future. You continue to show that for the most part, people are nice everywhere.
You've added to your bag of tricks - a high wire balancing act! Well done!
Determination! Never gave up and that is how she succeeds in life and her journeys! Hats off to you!
Oh wow! Those bridge crossings had me holding my breath!
What a fantastic day again. Even if your plans do not work out well you still keep your good spirit and humour, appreciating what comes your way. What a woman!!!
Absolutely amazing ride. The pucker factor was an 11 out of 10. You're an amazing person and rider. Cheers
After the disappointing turnarounds, what a nice way to end the day! Very much fun to just float around on the water that’s been your nemesis all day!
I never cease to be impressed with your abilities, tenacity and adventure streak! Great videos. My 900 pound Harley would be buried in sand five minutes into your route. Be safe.
Hi Norally..I have been on these roads in Botwana in a 4wheel drive.Wonderful that is definitely very adventuress. Envy you ...wish I could be there again.
Now THAT is what I call adventure riding. So much courage Noraly. I take my hat off to you, yet again.
Noraly"s favorite, sketchy bridge crossings.
Defiantly an adventure to find the right tracks to ride.
Well, I finally made it here by binge watching from season 1 thru season 5 episode 70 over the last few weeks !!!. I feel like I have known Noraly for 5 years and almost feel like she could pass for the daughter I never had. What a fantastic journey and I look forward to more episodes.
That was a thrill of a ride :-)
Beautiful the boat drive through the lake🎉🎉🎉🎉
OMG...my heart was in my mouth watching Noraly cross those bridges...
hi again nice....instead of disappoints ...u never give up....and we felt tense and sacry while u crossing that bridges.....u realy made it amazing.....
Noraly:
Good morning internet and today I’m going to take it easy…
ItchyBoots fans: LIES! We saw her clearing that track hauling trees and that crazy bridge she crossed 😳🤣
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You’ve got some balls to go out ther on your own, my respect to you girl
Ten out of ten for tackling those dodgy bridge's. And you drove over the first one 👍👍
You made me sweat too, Itchy Boots. What an adventure! Best to you always and Godspeed.
What an Adventure! So much fun to see you find your way. What a lovely ending- so glad I watched to the very end. You are so much FUN! Thank you Noraly!
Beautiful, wonderful and helpful children!!
Your persistence is admirable. Much respect! 🙏
Noraly's persistence is a lesson I am taking in my life. Don't give up, no matter how tough the journey. Real inspiration.
I can't seem to get over your unflinching attitude and trust in people who are perfect strangers! Blessings and hats off to you Noraly!!! Stay safe
Thanks for again showing that you never give until the way ahead becomes impossible! Then you just find another way to achieve your goal. Such a great example to all of us!
You are a true adventurer Noraly, nothing stops you,LoL
Noraly, probably the most intrepid woman I know, she has absolutely no fear! 🇬🇧👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Wow, those bridges. I have watched a lot of these videos but this is the first where my heart was in my mouth at moments! Glad all turned out well.
Triumph!! Floating and fishing~great that they too are aware and making efforts to preserve their native trees. Great effort crossing the swamp bridges. You go girl!!
Its amazing to see how wonderful the world is and how friendly the people are. Mainstream media only shows us the bad things happening in Africa. Stay blessed Noraly
What an adventure out there in the bush! Just you, the swamp donkeys, the cattle and the invisible elephants. And then the log bridges with no middles. Aaaaand the elephants stayed invisible. 🤔 That was some workout...but you did it! Oh, a surprise special treat at the end! I loved how you sprung that one on us when we were not expecting it.
You are the best. So calm in this situations.
Aahhhh-mazing! Another amazing video from Noraly. Every episode brings new adventures and experiences. I love this channel!

Lady thank you for sharing. You are amazing 👌👌👌…. But when you’re Namibia dessert by yourself I was scared 😱 your drone video the view stunned ❤️…. Beautiful thanks again lady. Wooo…..
It finally happened. Noraly does the Wall-E and starts cleaning up the planet. Those akazias *do* have nasy thorns, though.
I guess that day was a sequence of accidents gone right. You may not quite have reached your destinations, but it looks like it was properly getting to know the place. Me, I enjoyed it! ^^)
you have such resilience - and when things don't work out, "oh well never mind" , Such a great attitude! But you don't give up"
I was exhausted just watching this. When it came to "I really hope you liked this video" I sat back with relief but then... BONUS!! So happy to see you find that canoeist and sit back, relaxed. Will we see a little more of that water adventure next time?
Wow, what an adventure with hard labour to. We see, you never and ever give up!
He just caught a fish with his bare hand. Wow, that is some kind of talent.
You showcase Africa & it's kind generous everyday people at their BEST! THANK YOU Noraly for the education of the "fearful" who would never attempt your fabulous adventures! So many lovely people you meet when help is needed & so many speak English so well! You are SO INSPIRING!!!
It's not always about the destination, but the experience getting there! What a great adventure even though you didn't accomplish what you set out to do for the day ;)
That's some next level riding,there. 👍💪👏
Wow! Adventure of the highest order with Noraly and Savanha - Well done to you two!
