After crossing countless borders with my virtual friend Noraly that, I swear, when interstate driving here in the US, every time I see a "welcome to" sign my left arm automatically flexes, then swings forward and my voice in a Dutch accented but clearly discernible English says, "welcome to ... Alabama..." or whatever state I'm entering. Fortunately, I don't have to clear customs or get ripped off on some insurance scam. Travel safely Noraly.
I thank you for the video. Columbia is certainly off my visit list. Ecuador was much nicer than expected. It’s amazing how kind the poor are. Their rewards will be great in heaven.
Nor did we in Britain have to endure customs, etc when travelling in Europe, but since the disaster called Brexit, we have to at every border. Do other countries shoot themselves in the foot like Britain, I wonder?

Wow - what an ordeal to get Alaska's paper to enter Columbia but all proved to be worth it when you see that spectacular church in the gorge. Noraly you are amazing!
Hi Noraly, just watching all that border process i can give you a tip for when you cross the border to México. Mostly they do Office hours 9am to 1pm and monday to friday 😅 so be prepared if you find something closed. Can't wait to see the next video!
wow, yes what an ordeal! Please be extra safe while in Columbia. it is a beautiful country, the corruption runs so high at ALL levels. Prayers for yours and Alaska's safety 🙏 ❤
That was a snapshot of every interaction I've had with Colombian govt, including the adoption of my child. You handled that so well. I can't tell you how many times I've lost my patience, not with the friendly people but with policies.
Makes you realise what all those people on Charlie and Ewans adventures are doing in the background to make it seamless, kudos to you for doing this all yourself adhoc. The constant bureaucracy and being ripped off does put me off getting a license to do something similar.
Another wonderful story! Your sharing of the logistical/bureaucratic hassles, the beautiful countryside, the mostly wonderful people, and amazing locations like the church built over the gorge provides such a candid view! You are so good at evoking both the mundane and the spiritual! Thank you!
La Mordida (the "bite" or bribe)is alive and well in Colombia. The insurance guy is a great example. The people often are friendly but expand the fair prices to foreigners who are usually gullible. I'm glad you called him on it and he backed down a bit. It is a good for viewers to see how backwards and inefficient the government is there with all the lack of technology, different places you had to go and bewildering processes. Just imagine how it would be if you didn't speak Spanish! The whole fiasco started with the woman on the bridge who said "the border is closed..." I'm a bilingual Texan who travels to Mexico frequently and am familiar with the culture and practices. It's usually worse in border cities.
Mind you William, getting through USA Border Control and Customs can be a bit of a nightmare. When I visited from Scotland, my pal was wearing a kilt and had a flask of whisky in his sporran. When your customs said he couldn’t bring it in, he proceeded to sink it down in one! The Border Guard took a very dim view of this and threatened to arrest and deport him. My pal Is a good lad and very funny, so managed to talk them out of it fortunately, but the officers did have a bit of a humour failure. Cultural differences I guess, as dealing with a drunken Jock is just another day here in Bonnie Scotland. Hey and as a Keith you well might appreciate this, having Scots ancestry yourself?
@@stonemarten1400 Mind you, if you had to deal with thousands of people trying it on when entering the country, you too would lose your sense of humour very fast. More so when the guard has probably never taken to men wearing dresses. Yes, I know what a kilt is, I wore one when at Scotch College in the cadet corps, but that did not stop very weird reactions as I travelled to school on the bus.
You shouldn't project your experiences to other people lives. Colombians are really friendly people who will help you with a smile. When you enter any country you will find businesses next to it, where you can do paperwork, copies, book fares, exchange money, and so on. They are expensive because they are uniquely positioned to help. It's their business. It's not really a rip-off when you don't have a choice, it's the price for a solution to your problem. I think 12 USD for all the paperwork is dirt cheap. Same for the guy who helped her get her insurance. She bargained and got it for less. Good for her and good for the middle man. And Colombia is really advanced in technology. Government did things online years before the most advanced European countries.
Greats from Russia! You are very brave and strong woman! Your videos are very interesting. I can see simple people and usual things at another part of our planet! Thanks a lot and good luck!!

Well, you've crossed more borders than anyone at that crossing, so they couldn't keep you out. Thanks for showing the Church at the gorge, it's magnificent! God bless.
As much as I am fascinated by a lot of the Latinamerican countries I wouldn't have the patience to go through that incredible bureaucracy anymore. One great thing about living in an EU country (Portugal) is that we can travel all over 26 countries within the Schengen Area with just our ID card. The same would be true of any type of vehicle. I can go ten kilometers north of my town in the north of Portugal, enter Spain, drive 7 hours north and enter France, and show no document. For the Dutch it is even easier since they can be in Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, and France in a few hours. I wouldn't trade this situation for anything, especially when you see how hard it is for anyone to go through the Central and South American countries. Just wait until Noraly tries to go from Colombia to Panama, since she will not be able to cross the Dairen Gap, which is solid jungle.
As a UK citizen I already miss this. I can't wait for us to rejoin the EU (whenever that will be). Brexit was a stupid idea carried out by even stupider politicians

Hey Noraly, phew...quite a palava to get through and sorted!...but definitely worth it 👌. Look forward to seeing more of Colombia 🇨🇴. Cheers, Steve
In all south america that border is the worst Colombians should be ashamed of it.
Yeah, and later on she will have to deal with border crossings at Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatamala, Mexico, United States, Canada, and finally Alaska!! I sure hope it all goes smoothly for her!
Bienvenida rubia a mi País, te sorprenderas con la cantidad de motocicletas que vas a ver. Saludos desde Bogotá.
se aprecia la buena actitud y paciencia, Increibles videos
Wonderful video -- and thank you for being a one-woman force in doing things right, and good. That absolutely helps everyone traveling in your wake. I know you aren't fond of big cities but I can't recommend Bogotá enough. My wife and I flew there being told to expect the worst, yet we found nothing but the best. It is truly a world-class city, stunningly beautiful and with world-class wonderful people. Thank you for your hard work -- it means much. Safe travels!
Excellent. Another unforgettable video. I never imagined Colombian cities so neat and clean, and beautiful.
Girl, you have incredible patience & refreshing positive outlook. This video stressed me out...lol.
I have to say, really good editing, keeps everything very interesting.
Bienvenidas a mi país, Noraly y Alaska! Espero que disfrutes de este maravilloso paraíso y de su gente.
She is inspiration every people around world ❤
Good to know 👍👍
Wonderful People that will rip you off
@@wervelstorm7559 En todos los países hay gente mala, pero eso no le da derecho a insultarnos
You bring out the best in people because you are the best person you can be. You have infectious positivity
You're amazing! I'm Colombian, I'm from Pasto, somewhere near Ipiales. I felt so warm to listen your comments, to watch your videos. I feel bad about your delays because workpaper. Every country has things like that. Once I entered to Netherlands and I got stuck in customs as they were checking a Matroska. So custom guys checked one by one a nested Russian doll.... and I had a couple of those... c'est la vie
One of the things I enjoy when traveling to other countries is visiting churches. I am so sorry that you had such a hard time getting all the bureaucracy of crossing the border taken care of. Now you can actually enjoy the country and experience its beautiful sights. Thank you so much for taking us along with you. Stay well and safe.
I grew up in Paraguay and also lived in Bolivia for many years. Living in Manitoba, Canada now but watching this soo reminds me of home. You never know what to expect but with patience you can do any and everything! Also got my wife hooked to your videos already. Wishing you safe travels! You're one courageous Lady!
Dear Noraly, based on several videos I've seen about motorcyclists going from South America to Alaska, I recommend you have a lot of patience because the various frontiers ahead tend to be worse in bureaucracy and corruption attempts. I totally agree with you about not participating in this. I'm sure it will all work out. Have a nice trip and I'll be here from Rio de Janeiro always following along. Good luck!
Gracias,estas haciendo buenas rutas.bienbenida a colombia.
Welcome to Colombia.
You are a very special person
Awwh the nostalgia, i travelled from cartagena down to quito in 2013 and we also visited the church in Ipiales! It was breathtaking! Loved this, hopefully the rest of your trip will go smoother 😍 lots of love from Sweden :)
Hi Noraly.. I'm very glad that you finally arrived to Colombia. I'm so sorry about all the confusing paperwork at the border... But of course you will have a great experience discovering Colombia! I'm following your channel since your trip around Africa. I'm from Pasto at the southwestern part of the country.. hope you manage to visit my town and the surroundings e.g. La Cocha, Cañón Juanambú, Sandoná, Valle De Sibundoy, and so on... Otherwise hope to seeing you on the road... Enjoy!!!!
For the other followers it's Colombia not Columbia.. 😅😅 cheers!
Francisco can you explain why it is this difficult at border?
@@CboyNL I'm not totally sure... I guess all the online paperwork is still in construction. My advice is try to buy the insurance (SOAT) in a recognized store. Or at the official insurance stores. A good tip is trying to arrive to the border during working days
@@CboyNL no disrespect to anyone from there, but wouldn't be surprised if it was some type of shakedown
Bureaucracy in many countries needs grease to keep the wheels moving.
@@franciscomunoz5200 a beautiful Country. Very nice people. Colombia is a place USA heard about and some who never travel say it is too dangerous but I don't see any danger unless you go where you should not. Anyway a beautiful place🙏🦊
Brilliant ! Always upbeat and it is like going on an adventure with you...I am glad I found your channel. So thank you..
What an epic church in a wonderfull landscape. Thanks for taking us with you . I´ts everytime an nice moment when you jelld.. welcome to.. if you crossing a boarder. I love it
After crossing countless borders with my virtual friend Noraly that, I swear, when interstate driving here in the US, every time I see a "welcome to" sign my left arm automatically flexes, then swings forward and my voice in a Dutch accented but clearly discernible English says, "welcome to ...
I'm just waiting for the classic "Your papers are not in order!"
Nor did we in Britain have to endure customs, etc when travelling in Europe, but since the disaster called Brexit, we have to at every border. Do other countries shoot themselves in the foot like Britain, I wonder?
Dear Noraly, watching you overcome difficulties and solving problems in your friendly and respectful ways is really inspiring.
I am with you.
Take care, greetings from Hamburg.
I loved the video and Church at the end was epic (and so well cared for)
Wow - what an ordeal to get Alaska's paper to enter Columbia but all proved to be worth it when you see that spectacular church in the gorge.
Too busy episode for me. The border, the obstacles, the people, the chaos... I admire your patience and your way to manage all this. Go Itchy go!
There are people who try it on in all countries with foreigners if they think they won't be challenged.
It’s a shame that such a beautiful country Colombia is living up to the stereotype of being a dysfunctional nightmare.
Hahaha that whole customs thing sounds like an absolute racket- glad you made it through. Now let’s go see Columbia!!
It is Colombia no Columbia..😉 that is state in USA
@@aduquese7395 my autocorrect got me on that one thanks 😊
That church in that gorge is absolutely breathtaking. Thank you for sharing.
Greats from Russia! You are very brave and strong woman! Your videos are very interesting. I can see simple people and usual things at another part of our planet! Thanks a lot and good luck!!
Good evening, Truly amazed by your patience undergoing for clearance. Love from 🇮🇳.
Bienvenida a Colombia Noraly! I'm really sorry about all the stress that the paperwork progress must have provoked you, unfortunately, even us locals struggle with many of this things on a daily basis. However, I hope this beautiful lands brings you a lot of joy and knowledge. Blessings!

I’ve seen photos of the cathedral in the gorge, I’m so pleased to see you went there so we can see more of it, it’s such an incredible place.
This was an incredibly good video, Itchy Boots, so full of suspense, action, beauty…and i made it to Colombia with you, saw that the ordeal was all worth it and can happily go to bed now☺️😊!
Thank you Noraly for taking us to Las Lajas Church in beautiful Colombia!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for taking me back to so many places I've been before in such a unique and beautiful way! I spent 40yrs of my life there, met my Dutch wife (who very much like you, was backpacking), and raised our 2 girls there as well. Wishing for safety and success and you continue on your journey. Congrats on making it thru!! That last view of the church made all the hustle worth it. Enjoy Colombia and thank you for the vids!!
Amazing patience’s and the will to get things done! The journey continues, excellent.
It's good for patients to have patience.
Ahhhhhh, my beloved COLOMBIAAAAAA! My adopted country. I so so love that place and have so many great and not so great memories for many years. You can almost tell immediately the terrain changes! Great video, battling the bureaucracy is part of the fun! You Winn never fix it, totally out of your control..just roll with it…just like you did!

Thanks for sharing noraly, interesting to see Ecuador and Colombia ❤️👍🇬🇧 much love
You are right, that church across the gorge is amazing and beautiful. This is the kind of place I would love to visit for a couple of days.
What a crossing! That heated my nerves for a while! Anyways, all is well that ends well. Good luck, Noraly.
That was one of your most weird and time consuming border crossings but…Welcome to Colombia Noraly ‼️
I can’t wait for your adventures here 🙌
It's so exiting to watch every video you upload for a last few years! Looking to the different countries and cultures, hear your feelings and thoughts about this and that. It really interesting! Thank you Noraly. And wish you a good trip from Russia!
A nice introduction to Colombian bureaucracy, you knew one of our best exporting products
Bienvenida a Colombia 😎🏍👍🇨🇴
@@Mandem909 Don't give up hope! We Europeans will always welcome UK people back again to the EU. But keep your Tory Politicians out. Send them to MARS in a sealed container. Greetings from Germany
@@neilclark8087 Hahaha cheers Neil! I think that's a splendid idea. If the tory fools could take Nigel Farage with them too (strapped to the outside of the container) that'd be perfect
@@asquare9316 That is true but you don't have different cultures and languages when you cross those state borders. The U.S. of course is enormous, continental. From S.F. to N.Y. by plane is over 4,000 kms. From where I live in Portugal it is also around 4,000 kms. to Tallinn, Estonia, the last country in the EU. To get there I need to cross 6 countries and hear 6 different languages.
Darien Gap...if there is a trail that humans or animals can pass, FEARLESS Ms. ITCHY WILL RIDE through!!
me alegra que hayas venido a colombia ❤🇨🇴
I'm glad you could cross the border. You are such a lady! Spending hours filling in forms and going to and fro...wow. God's grace is upon your life. Enjoy the adventure ahead.
