I am not entirely sure if this means it's the entire Erdrich trilogy. 'The Legacy Begins' could just be insinuating that DQ3 is a prequel (which it is) and is a tease for that game.
Of course if it is a teaser for all 3 games...I AM HYPED
If it was just that, I don’t think the host would have been all “are you sure you can say that?”
@@JesseDylanMusic I’m more talking more with the new DQ Day 2024 tweet. I hope 1 and 2 do get remade but I’m not convinced at this point. I think during that event in 2021 things were just in the brainstorming phase.

I think you are right. There is no reason to think that this is confirmation for the entire trilogy. Dragon Quest 3 was a prequel and it makes sense to assume that that's all he's referring to.

I hope they do 4-6 some day too. I know a lot of people think 6 is mid, but its one of my favorites due to nostalgia.

I dont think they will make a DQ IV remake since they alreaady show us the IV story and characters on DQ Monsters: Dark Prince. It's better focusing on DQ V remake. DQ VI is a prequel to DQ V, doesn't make sense waste effort on it.
If they could overhaul DQ6 to make the narrative more cohesive to navigate, then sure. That, and overhaul the job system and have it more like DQ10, where each character has their individual skill trees rather than the potential menu bloat that happens when you master every job.

Idk about others, but 6 charm is unmatched compared to 4 and 5 (although 5 is my most favorite dq in mainline series, 11 is 2nd)
I hope they will remaster a lot of older games. So many are stuck on old systems and are VERY expensive now :(
I had been secretly hoping all 3 would be remade in one package--like a full DQ1, 2, 3, trilogy, they all somehow flow from game into game with cutscenes, and for the trio just charge us like $59.99/69.99. I'd pay $69.99 if it was a trio. DQ1 is SO short and the games in general are shorter than modern RPGs are usually, so having all three together would be an incredible playthrough!
I already finished Dragon Quest 1-3 on switch, what I need now is Dragon Quest 4-6.

But we have to agree that game price hasn’t increased that much compared to development costs. Exactly like what Capcom said.
If it's a full blown remake usually I'm onboard for full price. Games like Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Trials of Mana (3D remake) are completely recoded from the ground up so I don't feel bad about full price since the developer is putting in a lot of time, effort, and resources into the project. Remasters on the other hand should never be full price.
Even 59.99 is Too much in fact I don't even LOVE the Gamecube version of 1000 Year Door to BUY the SWITCH remake NOT at THAT cost.
I could see the first two games being on one cart, and the third game on another for like 50-60 each-- along with a bundle with all 3 for a discount.
Also as for the multi platform thing, The Night Sky Prince did a video on the state of the AAA industry and what a former Square-Enix exec had to say about it, and there's bad news, and then there's really bad news. I recommend everyone watch his video to get the context, because I don't see the industry heading in any direction other than what he outlined.
2:40 - I'll play Devil's Advocate here. But I'm still skeptical. As we all know, Dragon Quest III is a game that takes place before the first two games. So saying 'The Legacy Begins', could still be referring to just DQIII.
not to mention that you ARE Loto/Erdrick in DQ3. Any mention of Erdrick does not necessarily mean all 3 games like these people are erroneously speculating.

Yes, this is very exciting! Would love an HD-2D trilogy of the first three DQ games! Here's hoping that June Nintendo Direct delivers the goods!

Honestly have never played any of the Dragon Quest games. I have 11 in my backlog that I'm going to get to soon, but I would love to play these remakes of the OG Dragon Quest games.
Hey Davidvinc, thought I would chime in here as there was a lot of chatter about a possible DQX Offline announcement with the SEA release and DQ Day lining up.
*There is an English fan translation for DQX Offline out there right now and it’s very far along.*
I still hold out hope for an official release from Square Enix but if it never comes to pass, know that there is a translation team hard at work making the game accessible for the West.
Can't wait to see what they do with DQ1 and 2. 3 should be amazing of course. But I see some people sowing doubt that it's not all 3 games. But Yuji Horii teased all 3 games.
It wasn't a lie Yuji Horii meant it the trilogy.
There was a question about Dragon Quest IX Remake though not sure which video had it.
He is thinking of maybe doing it but hasn't confirmed it yet.
Id like a pixel remaster to match the final fantasy collection. Then hd 2d remake of DQ7

@@JesseDylanMusicnot to mention pricey. It is so hard to find a Dragon Quest 4 for this region under $100. Do you know if a DS game has to be the NA version to work on a NA DS?
Unlike the 3DS the NORMAL DS doesn't have Region Lockout so NO its only DLC for IMPORT games that won't work on a USA/North American DS if you own 3DS MOST DS only games both American and Japanese imports work on it as well.
Theirs only maybe 1 DS game that won't one of those Kirby games has a Built in Rumble Pack (Vibration mode always turned on) because of that its really the only DS game where a import version of it won't work on a USA/North American DS/3DS at all.

The president of Nintendo said the switch successor will not be at the next month Nintendo direct. The next month direct is all about the current Nintendo switch consoles already on the market David. I'm looking forward to playing the remake Dragon quest games on my switch oled console.

If it is indeed the whole trilogy I'm not sure if it changes much for me. 1 and 2 would have to make some significant changes aside from just graphics for me to buy them, definitely getting 3 though! I can't imagine all three games would be in one collection being they are completely remade, expecting $40-50 each.

Two things about this.
The first. I am surprised that they are going through this route. Giving the original Erdrick trilogy the HD-2D treatment would be awesome. Without a doubt. I've played the trilogy on Switch and I have an understanding as to why they are so beloved. But the fact that they're going to give it an HD-2D coat of paint. That's enough to get me excited. Being able to experience the trilogy in such quality is going to be divine. I only hope that it succeeds so that way they can give the HD-2D treatment to other DQ games, especially ones like the Zenithian trilogy, Fragments of the Forgotten Past, Journey of the Cursed King or maybe Sentinels of the Starry Skies. That's what I'm hoping for.
And two, the fact that it's going to be on all modern consoles speak volumes. This makes me happy that Square-Enix is ending their exclusivity tactics. Having as many games on as many consoles as possible is a way better move. Now if only Square-Enix can maybe port more of their Dragon Quest games onto modern consoles. For as much as I enjoy the first three games, even though they are ports of the mobile games, the fact that they haven't done the same for the others is just blasphemous. It just is.

When I think XBOX 360 and JRPGs... I think Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon. I know there's a slim chance of it happening, but if there's a Lost Odyssey remaster in the works I will be ecstatic!!

Hmm, not sure how much I'd want to play Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake with Dragon Quest Plus being a thing.
My ultimate hope is that its all 3 games together as a single one continuity... kinda like Final fantasy 4 complete came with the afteryears with a small middle chapter added on the psp version... that would be really awesome and i cannot wait! :)
Man, Dragon Quest day. I'm gonna play DQ3 again on my Switch Lite right now. And the HD-2D remake, cannot WAIT for the release date, so I can prepare.
I would not mind all the early Dragons Quest games to come out again. I hope it is a good remake I would be happy with a Pixel Remastered version. It would be nice for better instruction on where to go, especially 2. I ended up over leveled for the end because I kept getting lost for hours before looking up the walkthrough.
While the graphic effects are nice and most definitely steal the show, I really hope that there are gameplay additions as well! I'm actually replaying DQ1 and it made me realize how much fun it would be with new quests, items/weapons or different classes - the most we get is the stat distribution based on name!

It will eventually happen but don’t expect it anytime soon. SE is beyond mismanaged especially when it comes to dragon quest. They’ve had people move to different positions due to delays.

I'm not a big fan of HD-2D, honestly. I would prefer for it being full pixel art, just being made by a good pixel artist, someone good with animations, like wayforward.

Unless 1 & 2 are already in the works we wont be seeing those for years. Remember, this was announced 3 years ago. DQ 3 possibly 2024. DQ 1 and 2 if being made 2028 and 2031 respectively.

I personally want a DQ Builders 3. I just beat the first one and I had so much fun with it. I also played a little of the second and I see that its an improvement over 1.
My favorite DQ is 7 but I don't really think that needs a remake. I think the 3ds version is perfect, just remaster it and put it on switch and steam.
If they don't release for PS4 or Xbox One I'll probably pass on them, don't have a PS5 or Series X and I already got the Mobile versions they released on the Switch a while back. Can't justify having two versions of the same games on one console.

I’m not seeing any evidence. It’s all the NES trilogy. It would be great if it was but it sounds like he just wanted to make all three. With that said these games aren’t that long, and you already have the blueprints, it shouldn’t take three years without an update to do just one. So there’s a chance that, all three are coming. We’ll just have to wait for the Nintendo direct

while thats neat, i can't imagine going from 3 > 1 > 2 and appreciating it as much, 3 was kinda the pinnacle on the nes. going from customizable party, to no party to set party would be weird.
of course i want them to do it. I'm just saying, it's weird playing them chronologically.

Really hoping we get news of DQ in that Direct. And as far as the XBox 360 JRPGs go, while I don’t recall being particularly impressed by either Lost Odyssey (flashbacks didn’t grip me, too much gameplay/story dissonance) or Blue Dragon (I couldn’t stand the characters)… to be honest I hope Enchanted Arms gets a PC port.
Yeah Blue Dragon the game wasn't great imo. I remember liking the anime of it though. The anime gave the characters entirely different identities btw, it was basically a total reboot of the game.
Really don't think this means what you think it means getting them all at once. I think they consider DQ3 the start of the trilogy timeline and that's all this means. I do believe we get them all eventually but I think you're a little over your skis here.
