Thanks so much for this review. I've owned this pack for a number of months now and your video showed me things I didn't know about this pack and that I didn't see on the Osprey website or from the salesman at REI. You covered all the hidden features that many less experienced backpackers wouldn't know about. Great job!
Thanks for the review on this pack. I'm looking to add this to my arsenal for summer hikes when I don't need the volume of my Kestrel 48 for the extra layers. Great to see all the features this pack has. I do love Osprey quality !
Very welcome...The Kestrel 48 is a good pack, the Stratos 24 will be a good compliment. I've been using the Manta 24 and the Atmos 65 for my main packs. Thanks for watching.
Just wanted to do a quick follow-up. I ended up buying this pack about a year ago and have put a couple hundred miles on it. It has exceeded my expectations for a day pack. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.
Excellent review. I watched this video because I was seriously interested in buying this day pack. I ordered one immediately after watching this video.
I received mine today, May-2022, same color as yours. Bought it directly from Osprey. It’s on sale/clearance for $103. The timing was perfect because I needed to replace my old daypack and the price was right. I will be using it mainly to hit hiking trails in the Caribbean and that additional ventilation will be great. Thanks for the review!
Very good review. Very nice video an scenery. I'm right now deciding between this pack and the Talon 22. I already own a Stratos 36 that I use when I go out of state, but need something smaller to day hike down here in South Florida.
Great in depth video! I recently bought this pack to potentially replace my Talon 22 for day hiking. That won’t be happening. I used this pack yesterday on a 15 mile Catskills hike and I’m not a fan of it for one main reason. To me, it feels too rigid/technical for a daypack. I thought I’d like the backpacking features of the pack but I think it’s overkill for day hikes. The Talon fits like a T-shirt which I love. It never feels like I’m wearing a pack at all. The Stratos on the other hand definitely makes it feel like I’m wearing a full size backpack, not necessarily with weight but more so because of the construction if that makes sense. The hip pockets are bigger than what is on the TaIon but I don’t really use them for anything other than keys, phone cords etc. The rain cover is a plus on the Stratos but it’s easy enough to just pack one in the Talon. I do have the Stratos 36l which I will now keep for 2 season overnights. This on the other hand, will be returned.
Good for you...sounds like you know what works for you. Yes the Stratos has full back pack features in a scaled down 24L version....not as flex able as the Talon 22.
I have the female Sirrus 24 and I love it! I can pack it heavy and it still passes the dance test. You forgot to show that the back/harness is adjustable.
Great review. I’m looking for a back pack for my kids’ gear. They are 2 & 4 y/o. I’m ready to ditch the conventional diaper bag but still need a good pack to carry their extra clothes, lunch, snacks, and comfort items for day care and day trips.
Sleeping/sit pad straps would make it perfect. I like to carry a Z-Seat sit pad to keep my butt dry/warm when it coffee/lunch time. I already own the 36L and I love it. It is a perfect large daypack/small overnight pack. Those same removable straps would make this 24L perfect.
Thank you Nate!Awesome bike and hike! I bought a new Trek Roscoe 6 I'll be riding this year ...looking forward to it...planning some bikepacking trips and videos! The Talon seems to be a decent bikepack .. but yes much to consider....I did do a video of the Talon...it may help. 22...ruclips.net/video/PvoiJ0bBNTQ/видео.html
I have this pack and although I love the comfort and the beautiful construction, the main compartment is surprisingly small. If you slip in a full hydration bladder, theres very little room for anything else. For a little more money and not much more weight, I'd go with the 34 liter.
Hi Chris. If you had to recommend one daypack primarily used for day hikes (no overnights) would you recommend the Stratos 24 or the Osprey Talon and why? Thank you! Big fan. BTW been buying osprey products because of you including the Atmos 65
Thank you so much more for the understanding, I am flying out to utah in a couple of weeks and I've been torn between the osprey stratos 24 and talon 22/26. All of these bags will fit as a carry on and so would they osprey 40 farpoint but it doesn't have the hip adjustable padding. Would you prefer the stratos series or the talon series?
I like the Stratos series as the suspension is superior...Great little belt system and i like the feel...I do have a Talon though...it is a different feel to that pack and works in other ways. Compare side by side if possible!
I like the design of that day pack but I don’t like any white material on a backpack that’s gonna eventually get soiled on the trail. Wish that mesh was black. Good informative video though.
Hi Vasudev, the Stratos 24 does not have dedicated sleeping pad straps - the Stratos 34 does...unless your pad can fit into one of the side pockets vertically. ( with the upper compression strap securing it )
Hello is this a older model ? On ospreys website it shows the hydration bladder location just behind the shoulder straps not in the main compartment thank you for the info.
I believe the 3L is the one to get...it says hydration compatible but doesn't say what the max size is...try the 3 and the 2.5 is the next option. I have a 2.5 L big zip.
Nice review, very comprehensive. Just one comment though: maybe next time leave the metal cup off the pack while recording as the sound of it banging the rocks as you move the pack around is a bit distracting...
It would work pretty well but built more for day hikes......not to big of a pack. The raptor 14 is designed for mountain bikers and would work better ...fits more closely to your body. I just did a video on this (Raptor 14 ) ruclips.net/video/nAPqVTsucVA/видео.html
why the white inner webbing? that is just going to get filthy dirty, wrong colour, puts me off. Thinking this would double as hand cabin baggage on a flight?
Thanks so much for this review. Thank you! The 24L is a good one.
I love the Osprey product. Great little pack. Nice review Chris.
Hi Cat! Thanks ...they are very well made! ...Keep Going! (and Hiking!)
Just isn’t a great little price
I have this daypack and love it. I've been hiking with it all winter. Lots of features and it feels great on my back!
Good for you! It is a good one! Well made!
I was stuck between 34 and 24. Your vids helped me make up my mind and go with the 24. Thanks mate!
Glad I could help...24 is a good one!
Just got the stratos 24 this spring and I've been very happy so far. It's probably the best smaller day pack I've ever had.
That's great...it's a good size and one of their best packs!
Thanks for the review on this pack. I'm looking to add this to my arsenal for summer hikes when I don't need the volume of my Kestrel 48 for the extra layers. Great to see all the features this pack has. I do love Osprey quality !

Well excellent...I'm glad it helped! Osprey has good stuff!
Thanks for the help on understanding this pack! I was having trouble figuring out the water bladder compartment… May God bless!

As a Brit hearing you say "that bugger" made me chuckle."
Thankyou so much for the review i have ordered mine off the back of it.👍👍👍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
LOL...Yes...it's a solid pack...Thanks for watching!
Very good review. Very nice video an scenery. I'm right now deciding between this pack and the Talon 22. I already own a Stratos 36 that I use when I go out of state, but need something smaller to day hike down here in South Florida.
Awesome Eliezer, glad that was helpful in your decision making! Florida has some good hiking...I've hiked at Myakka State Park...gators too!!
I'm pretty new with packs like this and was trying to figure out the bladder compartment and where the tube was supposed to go, thank you.
Sweet, this is perfect for my decision on which Osprey to buy!
Great ! Glad it was helpful...Osprey is a great brand...nobody pays me to say that....wish they did!! $$

Since it was not available in Europe for like a few months, I found it now for 93,55€
Hell yeah 💪🏼 Thx for the review
No problem! It is a great pack!
I have the female Sirrus 24 and I love it! I can pack it heavy and it still passes the dance test.
You forgot to show that the back/harness is adjustable.
I’m hoping to get a Osprey Renn 50 (women’s) next month and start to practice carrying more weight. Thanks for the review! ✌🏼
Very welcome Brenda- Renn 50 is a good pack...50L is not too big/ not too small. Price looks good too...( $ 155 ! ) Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the great review. I already own the 34 but its a bit big for a daypack. The 24 seems to be just the right size.
Welcome ! 24L does seem right.
Great review. Camera quality to see features is great also.
Thank you! Keep Hiking!
Great review. I’m looking for a back pack for my kids’ gear. They are 2 & 4 y/o. I’m ready to ditch the conventional diaper bag but still need a good pack to carry their extra clothes, lunch, snacks, and comfort items for day care and day trips.
That is a great idea...should work really well for you.
Great review! Thank!
Yes...good tent REI Arete 2 ASL...thanks for watching.
Green wasn't available anywhere near me (EU). Bought the dark blue, and it makes me sad every time I see the green one. So much better looking.
Can't beat the Z seat....saves my knees and rear. Pad straps would be a good add on.
I just bought one, it's great!
Good choice!
Exzcellent review. I see that your osprey stratos 24 is a bit different than mine, but no problem. I did not know about the whistle
The whistle is a nice little extra/ could come in handy! Thanks for watching! :)
Any thoughts on Mystery Ranch Coulee 20 or 30 vs Osprey Stratos 24?
Just get a normal backpack? Works the same
So much fun! Thank you!
Sweet! Glad you enjoyed! Thanks -C
Nice review. I bike and hike. I'm torn between this bag and the Talon 22

The rain man reference was epic
LOL! Yeah..yeah.

Hi Harold, sure...nobody like a crowded backpack...The 34 is roomier! I'think I'll do a review of the 34 soon!
Hi Chris. If you had to recommend one daypack primarily used for day hikes (no overnights) would you recommend the Stratos 24 or the Osprey Talon and why? Thank you! Big fan. BTW been buying osprey products because of you including the Atmos 65
I would recommend the Stratos as it has more of a full backpack feel and capability with the smaller size for day hikes...very comfortable as well!
Thank you!
Hi Chris, have you tried to put an iphone into the hip belt pocket? I know stratos 34 belt pocket can store an iphone how about this one?
very helpful, thank you.
Very Welcome! :)

Great review, I was leaning towards the osprey talon 22, but you might have changed my mind :)
Thanks for watching...I will be doing a review of the Talon 22 or larger ....in the next few weeks! Stratos is pretty sweet...."Keep Hiking!"
I've been weighing those and the treklite up for run commuting. Any thoughts?
l would love to see a comparison of stratos 24 and talon 22
Yes...two similar sized packs / totally different style.
What is the little red clip in the net compartment at the top for?
Usually a key/ car key .
Base Camp Chris
Thanks. I got the Osprey Stratos 34.
I like the design of that day pack but I don’t like any white material on a backpack that’s gonna eventually get soiled on the trail. Wish that mesh was black. Good informative video though.
Hey Thanks for watching...I like this day pack and the Manta 24...great belt! :)
What jacket are you wearing. Nice review....thanks!
Hi Jerry, I have a Marmot rain shell from a few years ago...I usually add a polar zip up under if it's cold..Thanks for watching!
@@basecampchris Thanks!
Is it possible to strap a sleeping pad ? Please help
Hi Vasudev, the Stratos 24 does not have dedicated sleeping pad straps - the Stratos 34 does...unless your pad can fit into one of the side pockets vertically. ( with the upper compression strap securing it )
Hello is this a older model ? On ospreys website it shows the hydration bladder location just behind the shoulder straps not in the main compartment thank you for the info.
it is a 2018 model...they must of updated it with the hydration behind the straps. and back panel.
Does anyone know: For this kind of day pack, being 24Lt, would it handle 8kg-10kg, day after day?
The load range on the Stratos 24 is 10-25 lbs. so yes.
will the big zip 3L bladder fit?
I believe the 3L is the one to get...it says hydration compatible but doesn't say what the max size is...try the 3 and the 2.5 is the next option. I have a 2.5 L big zip.
Nice review, very comprehensive. Just one comment though: maybe next time leave the metal cup off the pack while recording as the sound of it banging the rocks as you move the pack around is a bit distracting...
That is a bit of a distraction...especially on the rocks. Noted.
Is it small enough to be used as a carry on?
Should be...check the airline that you are going to travel with they post their dimensions on their site...it does vary among airlines.
Chris, is there any room for a medium sized iPhone?
Yeah I believe so...
A whistle....I had no idea!!
handy! KP HKNG!
How do you think this pack would be for mountain biking?
It would work pretty well but built more for day hikes......not to big of a pack. The raptor 14 is designed for mountain bikers and would work better ...fits more closely to your body. I just did a video on this (Raptor 14 )
ruclips.net/video/nAPqVTsucVA/видео.html
Go with scapist
why the white inner webbing? that is just going to get filthy dirty, wrong colour, puts me off. Thinking this would double as hand cabin baggage on a flight?
Subtle Rain Man reference.
Yeah, yeh, ....definitely...!
Yea
Yo "Keep Hiking!"
Similar design to the syncro
ohgawdamn that cup...
6:24 ....
Animal photography wouldn’t be good with that Velcro sleeve
Way overpriced for a daypack, you can pick up a 35l Kestrel or Exos for around the same price which both have far more functionality.
I won't disagree on that. Osprey is a premium pack with a premium price. Worth it for some ...not for all.
