- Mount Mitchell State Park is the oldest in North Carolina and boasts the tallest peak east of the Mississippi. This video shows you the observation deck, where the vast majority of the people visit as the only place to visit in the park without a lot of hiking. The part is vast and there are plenty of trails if you are hearty enough to hike them.

Beautiful video! I have seen all of your website blog posts and can't believe how many parks you've seen! I've gone to 50 and I am only 15 years old. I am so glad to see your channel. Now that I have one, I am taking inspiration from your videos and talking about my park experiences. Thank you for being an inspiration.
Beautiful!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Was just there on this past Saturday! Beautiful
How was the fall leaf colors?
The colors were beautiful!
Is there an entrance fee, if so how much, thanks
No on the entrance fee!
I couldn't get over how much I loved the observation deck, but I really expected a bigger rock or to at least be close to feeling as big as Mt Washington.
Yes - the mountains here are less jagged and more "rounded"
Can you bike to the top from the parking lot?
It will be difficult since the path is paved but pretty steep, not to mention potentially lots of people to dodge.
Why is never picnic tables with nice views anywhere near Asheville ?..?
Good question... I think there are some good places on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
