48 years living in hurricane alley and I've only been truly scared once, for around two hours.
Don't stay anywhere below 20 feet elevation or within 100 feet of a river. Water is what kills people, rarely the wind.

i find it so coincidentally ironic how the last Hurricane Beryl, from 2018, became a hurricane almost in the exact same spot as this one (although this will take a very different path sadly)

I hate when islands get double whammys
yeah lol Beryl taking up all his time but it’s hard to ignore the massive low pressure system the models keep throwing in the lower left hand corner when Beryl is fighting in in the Caribbean lol

@@kennycarter5682 You will be fine. That high pressure sitting on top of you will not let the hurricane steer that way. It would more likely be Texas if that high pressure moves more to the right. I live on the Texas coast 😬

Wait, a minute, I wake up and we have a borderline major hurricane, if not already there, and potentially a Cat 4 as early as the 1st couple days of July?! Stay safe, coastal and Caribbean people. Even with it being predicted to be a brutal season, I wasn't expecting this.
Maybe it will swing by Florida, the Atlantic side?

The EPS has a horizontal resolution of 9 km, which is significantly better than the GEFS 25 km

It's very early in the season to expect a storm to maintain intensity or achieve significant intensity.
Doesn't mean Beryl won't do either, but the Windwards have seen much, much worse than this and it's ability to remain a threat for long is very doubtful.
NOAA is predicting it to be a Cat 4 when it makes landfall tomorrow morning. Sure, they've seen worse but not in late June/early July. I think that the concern is justified, especially for how early in the season we are.
