Fun fact, when she performed this song live on the Grammy's, she was told she was not allowed to say "F**k." Back then cussing was not allowed on TV. It was a live performance, and as you can tell, she speaks her mind. So, of course, she sang the song as she wrote it. I can tell you when we were home watching it, and she sang F**k, we were jumping, laughing and dancing. She gave the finger to the Grammy's. They were not going to edit her! I don't think she's ever been invited back. But it was brilliant!
@@RareHarmony I saw an interview with him, and he seems to think it's about him. He even said that she called him one night, and told him "I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner". He said that in listening to the whole album, there are a lot of references to him. BUT, he also says that they later reconnected on friendly terms and that she's an awesome person.
@@RareHarmony Bob Saget confirmed he was at the dinner she wrote the line, "I hate to bug you in the middle of dinner." for. It's Dave Collier. In addition, TLC have confirmed "No Scrubs" is also about him.
🌹 🏳⚧ 🏳🌈 Good reaction, dear. You are one of the few male reactors that defended the woman instead of making excuses for the man with outright misogyny...💋
I love how Alanis takes us, not only fearful, overwhelmed girls but all of us, to the far corners of our inner thoughts and gets us out in one piece. I’m an genX male and I sat up to take notes when she sang. She still does and I also.
And they say us Dutch are direct to the point of being rude. We took lessons from Alanis after that one. Grinning all the way :) Uninvited is good too, in that particular aspect especially.
Thanks, Bklyn! this is just about the best ex "diss" EVAH! She does not pull any punches... she is beautiful, unique, clever and a great voice... Alanis is really genius.. hope you listen to more from her.... you probably know some.. lol
Dave coulier has since come out and said that it was about him. There were certain details in the song that left no doubt in his mind that it was about him.
Dave coulier said that he first heard this song when he was driving in his car, and knew immediately that she was singing about him. I can't imagine what that must be like. And then it became a number one. It's a classic now and it's still about him.
This is Great, performance and reaction. There are other factors at work. Flea and Dave Navorro (RHCP and Jane's Addiction) and others on instrumentals. Her flow, and voice inflection, as well as , the lyrics themselves.

She performed Uninvited at the Grammys after that. They love her :)
That album is total gold!!!!!!
I remember when it came out. I'm a white guy in his 40s.. and that whole album I devoured and listened to religiously for at least a year...
One of the absolute best albums ever!
She wrote this about Dave Coulier (Joey from Full/Fuller House).
I do not think that has been confirmed or denied by any party. Dave thinks (maybe) so. Alanis is not telling. It is possible.

She was a breath of fresh air when she come out back in the day. She’s a national treasure and amazing.
When she said "I'm happy for you", I don't think she meant it. 😉
Nor me lol
🤣
This song was like a razor through the musical landscape. She gave a whole generation of women a voice.

I took for granted knowing this song since I was 14.
Its crazy who she is singing about too, but a great song and definitely was a woman's anthem back in the 90s.

Your reaction is so fun on this great track... Thanks, love from France 🇫🇷😘
🤣😂🤣 *Don't mess with Canadian Girls* 🤣😂🤣
😂😂😂😂 u think so
@@Bklynreau LOL, well at least not her!!! 😂🤣😂
A song possibly about Dave Coulier (very likely), with some sick bass by RHCP's Flea, and drums by FF's Taylor Hawkins (RIP). How can you go wrong?
Don't forget Dave Navaro on guitar!

Never mess with a woman songwriter scorned.
Love her, my fellow Canadian!

She also plays the guitar

You know I’m here for it
Hi from Pensacola Florida. 🎉
I'm surprised that people in the 21st century are surprised by these lyrics
❤
A bitter break up took place. I remember! Was a hockey player!!🔴🔴
She really meant this its about a breakup
She ain't "happy" for him, bro. She's very passive-aggressive "happy". Psycho "happy".
she is not happy for them and she does not wish the best for them both
