since I don't really have social media to keep up with all this, I always come to your channel for the latest news and tea within fashion. Just wanna say I really appreciate that
i feel like virgil is like 3 big controversies from getting kicked from lv lmfao, the whole reason they put him there is because he had a positive public persona
I want to like Virgil and support him but time and time again he shows that he is incapable of responding to critism (with action), besides the blatant plagerism he pulls. I get he's in a tough spot as he is leading the design team for LV, aswell as being a minority in the fashion industry, but he needs to show he deserves his position, which imo right now he clearly doesn't. In terms of changing street wear he's often quoted saying "street wear is dead" when he himself is responsible for resell culture and cultivating hypebeasts. That entire post he made about Sean Weatherspoons shop being looted really shows how dis attached he is from the public now.
What I find weird about his last controversy is why he doesn't just sort it out in private with Walter then gives him royalties and quotes him as an inspiration. In the statement that Walter gave he even said that he was more mad about Virgil not crediting him and proposed that Virgil could've asked for a collab. If he's smart he'll own up to his mistake, talk with Walter, credit him and give him royalties. I am a fan of some of Virgil's work but I got to agree with Walter on this one this was a fuck up
Legit. I been following Samuel Ross for years and u can tell the difference between that influencer shit and a true designer/creative. He’s not talking blankly. He really knows what he’s talking about
All my homies hate virgil abloh seriously tho, this guy was never original, his overpriced designs just got boosted by the community and he took credit for it. Cancel virgil 2020
In regard to the Ripp thing: hasn’t Virgil been putting “SHOE” on shoes and “SHIRT” on shirts for his whole career? Why is this all of a sudden seen as copying?
Sh8y 96 And what do you know about design? How do you think these designers feel having their ideas stolen and ripped off by someone and there being no repercussions? These people have their own ideas and Virgil just runs off with them because he’s to lazy to think of his own.

I can understand why others would point out cultural appropriation to Walter, but he has always had diverse casting for all of his career. I want to know though how diverse his and Virgil's ateliers are.
I had no idea about the Ryder Ripps stuff before this video and DAMN that shit actually makes my blood boil!! The labeling of stuff in quotes is literally Virgil's signature and he stole it from a FRIEND. And then the circular Off white logo he got from the supplement bottle, among other stuff. I get the 3% rule its in the same spirit as sampling in rap music. Sampling is pop culture. BUT that still means u have pay royalties!! Kanye doesn't just get to sample Curtis mayfield or Desiigner without paying them lmao
i think he means well, he just isn't very creative and doesn't respond well to criticism. he got into the industry through his connections, not his talent in fashion alone
I just saw your video a bit late but actually at the perfect time! Because is exactly what I think and happening in the creative world at the moment with this invasion of blackness creativity, as if society should somehow recover towards past wrong colonial era.But the point is, being just black isn't enough to fill the creativity gap. Being black is not enough to become a good artist or designer or even a good president. Here we risk to create an opposite result and infact impoverishing the entire creative sector. And if you dare to make any criticism you are immediately accused of racism. No ! not in my name. It is not enough to be white, black, yellow, pink or blu to become a good artist. PERIOD
I’ve only watched 2 of your videos and both times I find myself heavily focused on the background music thinking “where have I HEARD THAT!?” And then it hits me. BLACK OPS 2 menu MUSIC!? Then today it’s Destiny’s main menu music lol I’m subscribing just because of that tbh.
IMO Kanye always was, and always will be "the real designer" and "the true creative spirit" Virgil was the only way LV could obtain the closest thing to Kanye but without the turbulent genius mindset and public up and downs perceptively, now we are really getting to see the true fundamentals of Virgil's creativity, and unfortunately it's nowhere close to Kanye's.
I feel like people just buy the same things from off white- belts, logo hoodies and shirts, etc. But their less popular stuff I've found to be pretty cool actually, even though I wouldn't wear it
Silas Colombara alot of it is cool but they lack innovation. It’s just recycling what’s worked and modernizing it almost. It’s good for people who are new to fashion so they can learn where the inspiration comes from I guess.
OFF WHITE is cheaply made crap...in the window last week was literally a LEVI'S classic trucker jacket with OFF WHITE buttons...that's it exactly the same. He literally can't come up with a denim jacket?
I studied in Antwerp and know Walter from there and even if he is right in his accusations about Virgil copycatting him, he himself is in no position to say something about it, while he uses his own students as a constant reference and inspiration for his own label, copycatting them. Shame on him! And yes it’s true, in Antwerp we learned to get inspiration by periods/historical references and on ethnical references. These are the only to references Walter builds his designs around, no wonder half his collections are culturally inappropriate... such a douchbag
