Had a 71 Vega 350LT1 Turbo 400 Hooker Headers with a Don Hardy kit. Fastest funnest n cheapest car I ever owned.
Stationed at El Toro Marine base 78 - 79. Car was kicked off base weekly. Only lost 2 races 1 a Cobra Mustang n 2 a Duster with rubber pistons, "that's what he told me". Chevy Van frt springs.

I went for a ride once in a small blocked vega wagon It was scary...I have driven a 4 cylinder 4 speed Vega at 100 mph
They are kind of neat cars was actually impressed with it.

I had several over the years - most with SBC.
They are pretty neat cars thats for sure.
I built a 72 Vega GT with a 327 muncie 4-speed in 1978 it was a hella fun ride until I blew up the stock rearend. I put a narrowed 9 inch and sold is about two months later.

I know person put 1980 Chevrolet 4.4 litre V8 267 Blue one with 4 barrel carb, daul exhaust, Turbo 700SR 4speed Overdrive Automatic transmission shift kit also floorshifter , 377 posi rear gears ! Also did you guys see if Windshield Wipers work at all your car and should be nickname Zebra Lol! Also 727 Transmission bands not first I seen used as space on drum or disk guys on 5 bolts patterns!

Cory have seen my wire up job did to Derby Car I did to 1978 Chevrolet Impala 4 door did years to Alternator I use a extentsion cord 3 prong to one for outlet 3 prong and work super and got super recharge to battery fast never burned out Alternator or Electrical at all! Plus one setup to for Starter also so shut down if key ignition switch got screw up so be no fire!

With the tires smoking it looked like a stock Vega burning oil from that dumb silicon-aluminum 4 cylinder. V-6 or V-8 was the only way to go.

I had a vega with a tunnel rammed 406 SBC fun little car but my buddy has one car not a wagon with a 427 LSX gm crate engine and it is absolutely insane .

I'm surprised that the Mounties didn't nail you . For whats it's worth , I had a 73 Vega Kamback back in the late 70s 283 chev . 4 speed car stock rear end lasted a week or two iirc .
You could probably steal the alternator from the Cavalier that some hooligan broke the windows out of. Tires may fit front too

They had to smash the window out to put the hood up to take the alternator out to piss you off and get your blood pressure up and you noticed when you pulled the Vega out .

I guess one could say that red car had a cavalier attitude about you breaking out the back window. But it did effectively block your shot and temporarily disarm you. Love the Vega wagon, that is going to be a great project car.

Vega wagons have scarred me for life! I have a friend who got 180K miles out of one (with the original engine) and thought he could do it again. So he spent the next 10 yrs restoring another wagon while he drove his hot rod (a 47 Ford sedan) yr around in New England til he drove home one day and it fell off the frame. I credit him for inventing the Rat Rod, it was a beautiful, clean car and became affectionately called the Blue Blister after driven into the ground! Moral of the story: Don't spend too kuch time on a Vega! 😆 Go Penny's!!!

Another fun filled episode. Amazing what people will do with all the buck sheet fixes, tywraps, garden hose, etc. So after dressing it up with the stickers, stipes and peeling the back tires off, did your buddy end up buying the car?

A new black zip tie is a good idea! Don't want to have to spend too much since probably selling it anyways! (Less profit is not good) Maybe springs have rotted off the diff on the one side. Nice stripe package. When I was striping for a living, I would probably have got a couple hundred dollars for that job! Black hood good idea when driving in the sun to cut down the glare. The car is worth another $1000 for it! Make sure he knows I said the car has gone up in value in the last few hours! Lol! Nice water assisted burnout! Wonder who "built " the Vega and thought that 10bolt and Vega coil springs would be good enuff for a v8 4speed...lol yer gonna leave the rear sitting un attached to the car the very first time ya try to come out the hole even a little aggressive...lol I'm sure that your crew will get it str8 tho. I built one in the 80s and halfassed it and after the first time I hit it hard the doors wouldn't open anymore😂😂😂 I twisted it up so bad had to get a frame and a new body. Those things are held together with spit and bubble gum BUT , they were cool if ya did em right

I had a green vega wagon back in 81.My cousin put the 350 in it. Already had the 4sp.Yeah no motor when I got it Car was a blast. Ended up in Tennessee, I was in calif.Your video brought back alot of memories😁.

No way not a chevy vega in Canada that's not rotted all out. My uncle back in the 80's had two of those bad boys and the one he drove in the summer and the other was a winter beater and it was zig zag paper thin back in the mid 80's

Really? That turd is worth more than all that crap you got in the yard and probably actually worth 10 grand. Really dude 😅. Who doesn't want a car that can go 0 to 145 in 8 seconds flat. . And i would be very happy to take that turd home with me. That car even with the 140 motor is still more reliable than most new cars.
Some one was supposed to buy it but backed out and some one helped them selves to a bunch of parts this past summer.
