the reason jinho has the best upper 5th octave mix you've ever heard is because he used to be in sm the ballad (the company with exo, shinee, tvxq, super junior) AND he's a vocal trainer at cube ent (his company) he trains trainees like yoo seonho from produce 101 season 2 and gets high praise from many people.

It's really nice to get a vocal ranking which goes into strengths, weaknesses and potential for improvement for all the voices bc it really makes one appreciate voices that are usually lost in big groups especially ones with such strong main vocalists! For example idk if you've seen any cyzj yanan clips but even tho his voice is a bit limited it really shines in partner work where he is supported and can support someone in return, he's less conscious and his tone comes across far better! Hi! Thank you so much for your analysis and for taking time to analyze them. Just a quick point, before Pentagon Maker, Yuto was a JYP trainee so he had more trainee time than the 9 weeks that were the program. Of course, it can't be used for listening to them as in a solo, but Pentagon has some songs/covers in a capella version and Yuto, Wooseok and Shinwon doing the bases is so pleasant to hear. My favourite is their cover of Let it go. Not sure if it's related, but Yuto knows how to do beatbox. If you wanna hear more recent solos/duets of Yanan you can search his performances on the Chinese program The Collaboration/ CZYJ. His partner was Jun from Seventeen and they singing together are fantastic. And I think some people already talked about this but Jinho is a vocal coach (he gave up his dream of being an idol for a while and he was being a vocal trainer on CUBE when he went on the Pentagon Maker. He still works of it I think and he was the vocal coach of Seonho and some of the (G)i-dle girls) and a musical actor. Fun fact: I didn't properly catch Hongseok' voice until their performances on Road to Kingdom. Even if I follow them since Shine/Naughty Boy I thought the falsettos/high voices were YanAn or Yeo One. You’ve vocal ranked so many of my favorite groups it makes me really happy as a singer and I just wanted to say that!! My personal ranking was basically the same as yours, though I was confused about Jinho and Hui so I kind of gave up and just had them tied for first lol!! I LOVE Jinho and Hui, they’re some of my absolute favorite kpop vocalists and I could literally listen to anything they sing, Pentagon is overall a solid group vocally and I wish more people knew that!! Monsta X and Ateez are some of my favorite groups too so I’m looking forward to those too!
I really love these videos!! A lot of these vocal rankings on RUclips are done by people with no vocal experience or background, and I love to hear people who are knowledgeable talk about the technique and skills of the singers (as opposed to just “he sings high notes!” or “he can belt”). I’m so glad you’ve covered Pentagon! I agree that Hui is #1. Jinho is amazing but Hui’s voice is just so effortless and lovely, and it suits idol music so well. He reminds me a little of Red Velvet’s Wendy, strangely, in that both of them make extremely challenging vocals look super easy. Their technique and skill fool you because they sing with such ease. A lot of idol singers attack notes and challenging vocal parts, almost as though to draw attention to their difficulty, so it’s interesting to see such a different technique.
Wow ! This is the first time I see someone analyzing Pentagon’s vocal things. I’m so happy that you do that and I got more knowledge about them now. Thank you very much! I will support your channel and wish you enjoy pentagon’s new performance in “Road to Kingdom”
This was fantastic! Thank you so much for doing this. Pentagon really does have the most under-appreciated vocals and they deserve so much more love and recognition. Hui's cover of Kill This Love is what really pulled me into Pentagon, then the vocals of the other members and what made me stay was the versatility of their discography, one of the best. Love your constructive criticism whilst still mentioning the best parts of their vocal ability. Thank you
Just found this and it's a great ranking! Maybe because Hui is #1 for me. I would have originally swapped Kino and Yeo one but your critiques are fair. You also have to commend Hui for composing and handing out parts to make the most of all members strengths even if it means he doesn't show off all his talents. What a great leader!!
I am not super knowledgeable about Pentagon but I really love Hui and Wooseok's voice. Mostly for Wooseok I like when he sings low. I get your point about his technique not being developed but he just has a quality to his voice that I like. I really hope he focuses on his training. I don't get to hear people with low voices like his that are also forward and not quiet and back nearly enough. And he's got this boyish charm that comes out in his voice...like in Shine his verse part is my favorite part, his personality comes through. I hear you about the shouting when he gets higher, like his chorus in Shine. I just think he has so much potential
great video! i was super excited for pentagon and loved hearing your analysis even though i know absolutely nothing about singing lol. something i find so funny is the randomness of some of these guys voices like wooseok dolphin noises and shinwons screamo (it's hilarious). kino can go really low too, i've only heard it at the beginning of naughty boy and his solo stuff tho
Thank so much for making this video!! I love Pentagon and Hui’s voice is one of my favorites. I’m really excited for your Monsta X ranking, specially to hear your thoughts on main vocalist Kihyun and main rapper Jooheon 👀 Make sure to check our Kihyun’s live vocals of their song Lost in the dream, that clip is quite legendary within the fandom 😂
thank you for this thorough look at Pentagon's vocals! I'd love to see an updated version of this-not because I think the rankings will have changed necessarily but because they've released a lot of content since this which showcase their abilities and growth even more!
Please consider ranking shinee at some point! Chen has said shinee's jonghyun taught him a lot when it comes to vocals so I'd love to hear your take also they have some really interesting voices so I think you'd enjoy it!
Thanks as always for the video! Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on B1A4 and Apink...their main vocals are obviously and singularly amazing singers, but there's a lot to talk about with the other members in those groups! Have also seen a lot of people request Oneus...I love them but honestly it's probably gonna hard to find to find varied footage/examples for a couple of the members.
for me its jinho first and hui second but they are both amazing vocalist and easily some of my favorite vocalists. they have some of the best voices I've ever heard, and their range is amazing.
yes i also think it too, also for yeo one, his vocal more quality than kino, for some reason he always got line that doesnt suit his voice, tbh i think he is more into musical songs.
thank you so much for reviewing pentagon! i might be a little biased but i just prefer jinhos voice, and fun fact, he was actually a vocal trainer for a short amount of time, which might be the reason pentagon has such great vocals in total. huis vocals are godly though, ptg is such an underrated vocal group!!
It’s my first time watching your videos and I enjoyed you analyzing 😍 it got me shocked actually seeing Yanan is in lower rank.. I always imagine he’s 4 or 5 at least 🧐.. but really nice video I enjoyed it and I shared it with my friends too💙💙 thank you so much
The effect of the Korean Wave on my life as a fan - Some performers (actors, singers, dancers) make me hold my breath: Yoo Ah-in, Seungkwan/DK, Hui, Jimin, Taemin. Plus, there's BTS in general. I don't always know why I'm not breathing. With Hui, now I know. Thank you.
There are 2 bands with really great main vocalists- Hweseung from Nflying and Hongki from Ft Island, I don't know if you will look into their groups since the other members don't sing as much since they play instruements. But Hweseung esp as A GREAT VOICE. Like really wide range and huge breath capacity to sustain a note and hit abrupt high note. You should check it out if you can't make a video
They haven’t debuted yet but I think a group that would be really cool to check out is Treasure. They have some really impressive vocalists that make them seem professional
I love hui when he sings mid range It sounds really powerful that's why he has my fav voice in the group, but jinho has such a nice high register and sounds so pretty and nice when he belts Id have trouble choosing a 1st place xD
Jinho has amazing, AMAZING vocals, i really enjoy listening to him sing but for me, Hui's vocals have always caught my attention. I did so much research to find who was singing in the song because i kept replaying his parts (when i first started listening to Pentagon).
1 correction, Yuto actually trained at Cube for 2 years and at JYPE before that. But I doubt he still would have had the space in either companies to explore his singing since they would have already decided he would be a rapper (with that tone). He's also Japanese but writes and raps in Korean so I'm guessing a lot of his training actually went into language and pronunciation along with the usual stuff. Also since Yanan's return from hiatus I've been seeing him come into his own as a vocalist, and a performer. He seems more confident and it shows when he sings, and he seems to be exploring more! Great video :)
This was interesting to watch. I'm going to be honest, I was kinda confused and intrigued when you put Hui above Jinho. I got your point, but I still believe that Jinho is slightly better than Hui. I don't think Jinho pulls up chest voice (English is not my first language, so I'm not sure if a heard that wrong) but I agree that he puts a lot of pressure, he's really tense when singing in the higher parts of his range. But I think Hui, even tho he has a really balanced mixed voice, he gets more tense than Jinho. He kinda puts more pressure when singing even in his most comfortable parts of his range. I still enjoyed this video a lot, I agree with almost everything that you said. I'm really looking forward to your future videos.
i know a lot of people are asking for a ranking of different group’s singers against each other, so i think a good format for that could be a big tier list of sorts?

I see where you are coming with on Hui and Jinho. Personally, I would rank them both 1st. I find that they make the perfect main vocalist duo. They compliment each other extremely well. I know quite a number of people have already pointed this group out, but I really would like it if you could rank Oneus. I'm very curious about how you'd rank Leedo. And the rest of the group, ofc.
Hui and jinho do some crazy shit with their vocals
I am not super knowledgeable about Pentagon but I really love Hui and Wooseok's voice. Mostly for Wooseok I like when he sings low. I get your point about his technique not being developed but he just has a quality to his voice that I like. I really hope he focuses on his training. I don't get to hear people with low voices like his that are also forward and not quiet and back nearly enough. And he's got this boyish charm that comes out in his voice...like in Shine his verse part is my favorite part, his personality comes through. I hear you about the shouting when he gets higher, like his chorus in Shine. I just think he has so much potential
Honestly
Hui has a lot of Adlibs. I hear his signature chirpy high notes in almost every song- and I love it.
great video! i was super excited for pentagon and loved hearing your analysis even though i know absolutely nothing about singing lol. something i find so funny is the randomness of some of these guys voices like wooseok dolphin noises and shinwons screamo (it's hilarious). kino can go really low too, i've only heard it at the beginning of naughty boy and his solo stuff tho
Great analysis! Would love it if you ranked WayV or NCT Dream!
Yanan has dramatically improved with Do or Not promotions. He sounds more comfortable, relaxed, and stable
Would love for you to do ATEEZ or ONEUS if you would wish to! Great content, been watching all your vocal rankings so far!
Thank you so much for enjoying the series. Ateez will be very soon. I'm not as sure on ONEUS
I second ONEUS!! One of my fav rookie groups
I would also love ONEUS!
Thank you for including PENTAGON in these series, i love your videos.
You are very welcome. They were a joy to cover!
I like when u said " Jinho is a small guy " yeaaah that's why we stan him 👏
thank you for this thorough look at Pentagon's vocals! I'd love to see an updated version of this-not because I think the rankings will have changed necessarily but because they've released a lot of content since this which showcase their abilities and growth even more!
watching this after hongseok just became a main vocalist, crazy how he is still improving and now covers a lot of jinhos parts when he's gone!
Please consider ranking shinee at some point! Chen has said shinee's jonghyun taught him a lot when it comes to vocals so I'd love to hear your take also they have some really interesting voices so I think you'd enjoy it!
I'm predicting that one of these videos will blow up and you'll have waaaaay more than 1K in the future. All the best
That would be lovely. But if it doesn't happen that's ok. I'm just glad you guys enjoy them 😊
Pentagon is a really talented group and have really good vocalists
Love your videos! This video definitely made me appreciate Pentagon more.
I agree with Hui #1
He is phenomenal
Sorry to say this- im not a fan of Pentagon, but im deeply in love with Hui’s voice. Super warm like sunshine. Very much underrated
for me its jinho first and hui second but they are both amazing vocalist and easily some of my favorite vocalists. they have some of the best voices I've ever heard, and their range is amazing.
yes i also think it too, also for yeo one, his vocal more quality than kino, for some reason he always got line that doesnt suit his voice, tbh i think he is more into musical songs.
thank you so much for reviewing pentagon! i might be a little biased but i just prefer jinhos voice, and fun fact, he was actually a vocal trainer for a short amount of time, which might be the reason pentagon has such great vocals in total. huis vocals are godly though, ptg is such an underrated vocal group!!
It’s my first time watching your videos and I enjoyed you analyzing 😍 it got me shocked actually seeing Yanan is in lower rank.. I always imagine he’s 4 or 5 at least 🧐.. but really nice video I enjoyed it and I shared it with my friends too💙💙 thank you so much
Thank you for your effort
The effect of the Korean Wave on my life as a fan - Some performers (actors, singers, dancers) make me hold my breath: Yoo Ah-in, Seungkwan/DK, Hui, Jimin, Taemin. Plus, there's BTS in general. I don't always know why I'm not breathing. With Hui, now I know. Thank you.
How about a really Underrated Group. Imfact! You wouldn't regret it, I promise!
Tali the 2nd Gen Kpop Addict their cover of Starry Night is still one of my favourites ever. Love imfact.
could you maybe rank the boyz. also i really love the way you word things
In terms of vocals, I’d place cube entertainment 2nd for best company in Kpop
you should rank red velvet!! i’m sure you’ll find them super interesting. i love your videos !!!!!
I like how your effort to find all those video, i appreciate that ❤️✨
Thank you for made this video
They haven’t debuted yet but I think a group that would be really cool to check out is Treasure. They have some really impressive vocalists that make them seem professional
Thank you for reviewing Pentagon! They're so underrated. Their songs and their vocals are awesome. Go Pentagon!
Also great work and showing your expertise as always!!
pentagon are amazing
I love hui when he sings mid range
It sounds really powerful that's why he has my fav voice in the group, but jinho has such a nice high register and sounds so pretty and nice when he belts
Id have trouble choosing a 1st place xD
Jinho has amazing, AMAZING vocals, i really enjoy listening to him sing but for me, Hui's vocals have always caught my attention. I did so much research to find who was singing in the song because i kept replaying his parts (when i first started listening to Pentagon).
Jinho used to be in SM with SM the Ballad aling with Kyuhyun and Jonghyun. 😊
I love cutie Jinho.
Wooseok do that - high speech - just for fun and tease the other members. 😂
Don't know much about the group, but your analysis is on point as always
wow, it was really interesting to watch this! i know next to nothing about vocal techniques so hearing your thorough analysis was super insightful
More performances can be found from their pre-debut show Pentagon maker
Please please please do A.C.E you would definitely not be disappointed !
Yesss a.c.e is so underrated! I love them🙏
Yes, pleaseee! They are really good singers, all of them
Ahhh Hongseok’s voice! Thank you for this amazing video!
I like the balance of your ranking between technical and tone, I've only really seen one or the other. Looking forward to your Monsta X vid
i know a lot of people are asking for a ranking of different group’s singers against each other, so i think a good format for that could be a big tier list of sorts?
Ooooh my that's a good idea.
i love how i always learn something from your videos, thank you for making them❤️
Hui could lead a rock band. Love his voice
Im really watching a video about a group I dont listen to. Only because I support this channel that I am watching this.
People also forget Jinho came from S.M. And Was The Original member of S.M. The Ballad with Jay(Trax), Kyuhyun(super junior), Jonghyun(Shinee)
You are the most humble RUclipsr i've ever know! I hope you always be like this...
And please check out Monsta X
Sorry for my bad English, i'm Indonesian...
I want to say that i'm proud the be one of your "first" subscriber... Don't change
Awww thank you that was really kind of you!! I hope to always stay the same 😊 and no your english is amazing!!
@@sambradley8297 please remember my name LOL 🤪😂 WHATTA WEIRD request
Jinho 's best showcase of his voice range is his cover of "Gethsemane ". I bet you would rethink your analysis once you hear that.

i would love to see you rank ateez!
Well luckily for you. They're after monsta X!!
I see where you are coming with on Hui and Jinho. Personally, I would rank them both 1st. I find that they make the perfect main vocalist duo. They compliment each other extremely well. I prefer Jinho's tone to Hui's personally which is why I would end up ranking him higher. I would really love to see your ranking to IMFACT. I'm a classically trained vocalists as well, so your rankings have pretty much been spot on until this one with mine. I'd love to see your thoughts. Their vocal line is no joke.
I know quite a number of people have already pointed this group out, but I really would like it if you could rank Oneus. I'm very curious about how you'd rank Leedo. And the rest of the group, ofc. I'm fairly sure they won't disappoint. :)
Also, an underrated group called ONF (On N Off). All of them can sing. I swear. They're really good.
Thank you so much for making this video!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️
OMG I have the same opinion as u and how u put it so technically Acurate is nice
honestly I've watched this in parts not realizing e'dawn wasn't in it and got legit stressed out he wasn't coming up by 3rd place until i remembered there were only two current members left so he wasn't here. This is not on anyone but me and my dumb ass but yeah that happened 😳😳
Sorry about that, with some videos I ask fans if they want an original and for this one, I kinda forgot to and just made a judgement call, so I am sorry about that 😕
Amazing reviews as always, your channel has to blow up! Subscribed!
Thank you very much for that 😊
hi I love ur videos! thanks for finally bringing some real facts on the table its badly needed. I would love to see you talk about shinee since they're in probably everyones oppinion one of the best vocal groups out there! I know you will be absolutely flabbergasted, to use a silly word. hope u have a good day and keep up the good work!!!😌
Thank you very much. Alot of people want Shinee, I'll bump them up the queue
Again, thank u for all you work ♥️
Can you also do Astro? i really like your analysis, thank you very much!!
Of course. They're in my last after a few more of the heavily requested guys.
Samuel Bradley i hope you’ll like them!🥰
thank you so much for this! i loved your analyses!
