    My new favorite channel. I live in Lincolnia Park, Alexandria, in Northern Virginia and every time I've gone walking in the stream valley parks around my house I find various stone tools, scrapers, and other artifacts. I've even come to enjoy looking at old maps to see where old creeks and roadways used to be, and have even come across old garbage dumps. I wouldn't know what to look for or where to look without your expertise, so thank you very much for your work and. Your passion for this is contagious. Keep up the great work!

      My uncle used to live in Leesburg Virginia by a golf course that had a pond in it or a few ponds....and they found all kinds of arrowheads in a stream by the pond

      You will do good man. All it takes is effort......and the effort......it changes your life for the better. Get yourself.....3 or 4 places to go with flint and fire rock and you will find stuff. I also recommend getting a metal detector to just take with you. Arrowhead hunting is hard sometimes.....metal detecting is EASY. If you have one with you......and you know how to use it even a little.....you will find stuff.

    Thanks for bringing us all along on your adventures! Watching your videos has been my favorite thing lately. So from your experience, sifting the base clay is pretty useless? Have you ever found an artifact way down in there?
    Also, if nobody picks up these artifact points, do they eventually get into the water? Do you ever sift in a few feet of water?

      There is powder gold in that sand too. Not alot....but f you set of a sluice....you will find some--I may do that this year. It is not worth it for the gold....you do not find enough....but you will find some....which is kind of interesting.

      Ok..its all base clay and just "Cleaning it off". The best place to locate the base clay is higher up toward the top of the bank.....then you can follow it down toward the shore

    • @rockscousteau
      @rockscousteau  4 года назад +1

      It does....but what it is is a piece of the base clay I was skimming off. That is a perfect example of how I do it. I skim off a thin "sheet" of the clay and that is why that looks like that. Notice how the color of it is the same as the BASE CLAY i show. That is all it is. I pick up every rock off the beach when I leave....I threw that out in the water.

    Glad your able to legally hunt like you do. Around here they've made it illegal to even pick up garbage that might be 50 years old. No sh-t!!!. We occasionally find points and such fishing the Columbia river but are supposed to only look and not even pick up....OK Funny how one of our favorite fishing spots has now been closed to us. That area had thousand of natives living for who knows how long. A very artifact rich area that the local port authority really wants to develop/ I guess it's fine to screw fishermen and history in the name of the almighty dollar. Sorry just my rant.

    • @rockscousteau
      @rockscousteau  4 года назад

      It is all private owned here to the low water mark. I can sift anyplace I want except Islands in the river and federal land along the river. The one thng you cannot do in the Ohio river is go up and down the river in a boat and walk beaches. That is where it becomes Illegal. You are trespassing/stealing from landowners. That is what is going to ruin it for hunting where I am. ZERO of the Ohio river hunters on here have any permissions to hunt for artifacts.

    I know this is an older video but can I find arrowheads in Texas?

    • @rockscousteau
      @rockscousteau  3 года назад

      Yes. Texas has some of the best arrowheads in the entire United States. Amazing relics in Texas.
      Watch the Channel "Coyote Arrowhead Hunting" He is in the deserts of Northern Mexico I think. You can find some of the same stuff he is in Texas...plus different stuff. Type Texas Arrowheads int a search engine

      It is In Pennyslvania as well. I was close to the border of PA on this hunt. There are other sources of the chert......they have just not been documented. It is all over the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia. I have some more CLASSIC big chunks of it I will try and show in the next week or so. It is the same thing with Crooksville/Brush Creek chert. The source is listed as Crooksville Ohio.....but the same stuff outcrops in various sites all up and down the Ohio Valley. The biggest quarry of crooksville chert is in Fly Ohio.

    What river is this ?

  • @kevinkline6835
    @kevinkline6835 4 года назад

    Does the material and artifacts come from the high bank?

    • @rockscousteau
      @rockscousteau  4 года назад +1

      The material they are made of comes from other sources like flint/chert mines and river gravels. All the artifacts are IN the high bank. I do not dig into that....I wait for all the stuff to fall out of it after high waters.....then after it is down I sift the pockets of the fire rock with flint flakes in them. You will want to see the fired/heated rock...and the flakes

      @@rockscousteau Thanks for answering an old mans questions Rocks. I've only hunted Colorado and it's way different here than there. I love how you explain what you are doing but was just wondering why you don't dig the high bank but I get it now. You wait for it to get concetraited kinda like gold. Happy hunting brother.
