Another great tip Matt, between this and using shrink wrap tubing on the hook, you have two great options, depending on the situation. 👍👍. Thanks for sharing, Berkeley is going to hate you lol!
Great idea! I did start using the VMC crossover rings this year and IMO they performed 100% better than o-rings. Just have to make sure you match the right sizes with the right worm.
I use silicone tubing from amazon for senkos. It's a lot cheaper, and does pretty much the same thing. Just stretch it with your needle nose then slide the senko through it.
@@twiggsherman3641 I agree that is actually much less expensive and works also. The VMC Crossover ring gives you basically 100% hook exposure because the hook does not have to go through the worm at all. It allows you to place hook in correct orientation for either wacky or Neko technique.
@@zevoutdoors7194 I just use a smaller size for neko rigs, as I use yum dingers exclusively for neko rigs. I don't think the additional cost justifies the crossover ring, as I never have any issues with hookups, and you can hook your worm a lot more shallow with the silicone tubing, so you get just as much hook exposure. But to each their own.
Another great tip! Like you, I have a wacky rig set up 100% of the time I am on the water, and I have tried single 0-rings, double 0-rings, and Crossover bands. This looks like the absolute slick ticket. This idea, the Carolina Rig weight, and the Crankenstein are the best 3 informative videos I have seen from any poster this year.
I will be taking my hook to the hardware store and get the correct size tubing. This looks like the way to go.. always appreciate the great information.
Now u got it. Got me thinkin of finding the CG on a fluke an rigging same way to cast at bait balls to imitate a dyin minner falling out the pack for schooling fall bass
Sweet! I started doing this last summer and it works very well. I use the EZ-FLO Micro Fuel Line from Lowe's. It's ID is 3/32" and OD is 3/16" for around $5.00 for a 10' roll.
Great DIY tip… I use the Arsenal wacky sleeve pliers & 7mm or 8mm sleeves for my wacky stick baits with a Berkley weedless 2/0 or 3/0 wacky hook… great for skipping into heavy cover & rarely gets hung up.
Electrical Heat shrink tubing from Harbor Freight Tools I have used for a few years... all sizes and you can rig the hook through it. Clear or color whatever you want
I like this tip. Have you tried using shrink wrap on the worm. You can skin hook a small hook (or bigger hook) and it will not come out. The advantage is that there is no part of the worm to clog up the hook gap. As long as you don't cut the wrap too narrow or shrink it too tight, the worm won't tear.
I saw the same video a couple of weeks ago. I made 3 of them and added treble hooks on the end of worms in the split rings. I do stick one of the trebles into the worm.
Hi Matt, I will have to try the plastic tube. I have used a Decoy spring type hook holder that you screw into the work and then pass the hook through the center. I also have used the springs from old pens. I think the plastic tube may be stronger. Thanks for the tip.
Good thinking Matt. I’ve wondered since seeing the flurry of videos about it, what mods would spontaneously develop because of the inspiration from the Inu Rig. Makes you wonder why we didn’t think of some of these tweaks before.
That's a great idea Matt. I'm going to have to find something that will work with the worm I use for wacky rigging. The 6th Sense Clout is a smaller diameter but is the deadliest wacky worm I have found. It's small diameter does allow big bluegill or small bass to snatch the worm out of the O ring. Your idea will put an end to that. Thanks !!!
Excellent idea Matt, thank you. I never really liked using the O-rings, even though I've got a bunch of them. I'm off to the hardware store after lunch!
I get those big jumbo Margarita straws from my local Mexican restaurant or from Jack in The box and I just cut the straws down into very small strips and slide my worm through it and just run my hook through the straw and to me it works way better than any kind of wacky tool or band or what-have-you
Hi Matt. Wow, as a newbie kayak bass fisher I used the wacky rig (and neko rig) quite a bit this year with good success. Always good to find methods to keep the worm on longer. I will prepare some of my favorite senkos with your method today! New to your channel and a new subscriber too! Thanks for sharing.
Awesome Tip, Thanks for sharing. Just getting back into bass fishing. I haven't fished a wacky rig. But I always wanted to. I will be looking for tubing today. What size tubing will I need? Thanks a bunch! vWilliam
Matt , this is awesome, one of my favorite baits to throw and the problems you stated about losing baits, poor hookups, this looks like a no brainer to at the very least try. I love the way you think when it comes to making a proven bait even better! Way to go professor Matt!!!
great tip Matt!!! I was already planning to go get some small tubing after your Inu rig video. Now after seeing this, I will definitely be getting tubing. it’s probably just a matter of time before some bait company will either start selling the tube in their worm, or start selling package of small pre-cut tube.haha terrific idea Matt!
Simple, but amazing modification that is a game changer, that will work with any other plastic bait Matt 👏 As a side note I did find a unique bait similar to Inu rig and ordered some from The Tackle Hook Up. It is made by OSP in two sizes and is named MMZ, it differs from the Inu rig in that the worm is produced with the bends in it. Thanks Matt for making us better anglers every day 🍺
I like to tinker, and will use this tip, thanks! BTW, I fished Crankenstein with my fishing partner, and I fish from the back of the boat and I had 4 fish to his 'one' in the first hour.
Another option for the Inu Rig, might be to use coffee stirrers instead of surgical tubing, if you're having problems finding the tubing. Hell, you can stock up at Dunkin Donuts, while you grab your morning brew.
I have been using the shrink tubing it worked very good I'll try the tubing in the worm to see if it's just as good if it saves me money I'm all for both original sencos are pricey
Outstanding! I too have been playing with inurig applications, on creature baits...trying to find an application where it will make, say, a craw or lizard move diffently. It's really got the wheels turning.
Matt. Great info. Didnt know you were a native Chicagoan who is now a Wisconsinite. My question: is there any advantange with this technique of using wacky rig and tube versus a crossover ring?
Matt. I m doing the improved wacky rig for fall fishing. My worms are from 6th sense, clout color, which is purple and black with glitter. Does it make a difference on what colors face up and down? My brain is thinking like hard bait colors where some have bright on the botton and dark on top. Any thoughts?
The way that hook was moving easy or the eye being pushed into tube, there has to be a way to Texas rig that hook and have an actual weedless wacky rig
I wonder how a ball point pens spring would work used like that? It wouldn't need glue. I've always thought fish could smell super glue and shy away from it when I can.
@@2222fishing you can’t be serious. What do you think those 4 holes are in front of a basses eyes. Berkley is one of the top sellers in soft plastics because of their scents. How do sharks and catfish smell blood and stink baits. They have all kinds of smell sensors.
Every now and then you come across a video that single-handedly legitimizes RUclips. What a great tip. thank you for sharing, Matt!
thanks for watching!
That's a neat idea. I prefer the hook being perpendicular to the worm. This solves that problem.

1/0
Matt, that tubing you're using looks a lot like aquarium air line tubing. What's the i.d. on that tubing you're using?
i get it from a science store. its probably the same as the aquarium tubing
U can put 2 bands on ur worm cross the band's over each other to make a X. Then u can hook will go the the other way
Ive seen that as well
How long before the worm makers catch on and start manufacturing the worms this way?
Im guessing its in the works!
hey matt is there anyway you can raise the volume of your upload? i always have to turn my volume up all the way.
Im not having that problem when I upload it but ill keep looking into it
How about using Z-Man ElaZtech worms and eliminate the problem all together?
I dont like the fall rate on them compared to the generals.
