I understand why she would do that, as a lot of the things on her list are video based and she uses this to make videos but for an ordinary non-youtuber person, this seems like a waste of time. Sure, it may be fun but you'd end up spending more time designing a page rather than filling out tasks.

This person is a little light on the decorations but I know plenty of people who spend up to an hour designing a page like this, going extremely overboard. A majority of them end up, at some point, giving up on either the tasks or the designing of the page. It has some benefits but you can easily find a task just as long that benefits you much much more. But to each their own, I guess. If someone here who does make these journals disagrees, please give me some insight on this.

Messing up in what way? Handwriting? If you want to improve handwriting, all you have to do is practice writing nice letters. Might take a while but that’s how I did it. Not that I ever had “bad” handwriting. Simply I wanted to make my letters more organized.
