- A man wrongfully convicted in the 1988 murder of a 6-year-old boy in Illinois is free after 35 years behind bars, the Cook County State’s Attorney Office said. #CNN #News
That’s heartbreaking. 35 years later .
Our criminal justice system seriously needs to be changed when someone is wrongfully comvicted. Im glad hes free but 35yo of prison isnt justice. Thats a crime within itself
The problem with this case wasn't the justice system, it's a jury who would convict someone with such flimsy evidence.
It’s the judges too! I watched in horror how the justice system convicted my love one of 3 life-sentences for a crime he wasn’t even at, witnesses false claims, victims lies and nobody killed. We are currently waiting for justice to prevail. It’s a horrific crime that is systematically destroying black men.
i hope dude sues and gets PAID so he never has to work a day in his life. he had a future and they took that from him. He's almost retirement age now.
More shilling for blacks by Whites (i.e., by useful idiots), where the former murders the latter at a X15 clip... Ah, the self-abnegating allure of ever more warmth and fuzz!*
@@IcariumGamingso the justice system then. I agree.
This story repeats itself too too many times in the life of black men in this country! Every time is heartbreaking!
My Daddy was murdered, the right man arrested and was given 5 years! This innocent man spends 35 years! The system is definitely broken!!!
Terrible, really terrible
Omg
Elections have consequences. If you’re voting Democrat, you’re a part of the problem.

So sorry for you and your family loss. I am also sorry that your father has not received the justice he deserved 🙏🏽
Get this man 1 million dollars for every year he was in there.
How about one BILLION dollars for every year, and even THAT wouldn't come close to being fair....he can't buy even one millisecond of the years back that were robbed from him...the main prosecutor in the case needs to get the electric chair and THAT'S just for starters..
@@user-kc1wu4bj9d exactly. He could technically been a granddad by now. His whole life and legacy has been upended. May he get every single cent that he needs to right this wrong
Absolutely!!!!
The justice system is terrible wasted man's 35 years of precious life..🙄
THERE’S LIKE A CONVICTION OVERTURNED EVERY WEEK 😮
Why is it always black folks getting false jail time convicted on bull shit

@@ReconBlack1because there are a few white folk who are not liking black folk .... 🤔
Wow😮35years in prison for something he didn't do 🙏🏼
So many innocent people locked up 😡
This is so heartbreaking!
What an awesome man, with no appearance of anger on his face, and a great composure!!
That's awesome?
I graduated in 88 thats horrible, I lived an entire life while this poor man was chained up it really makes you grateful and incredibly angry
1989 grad here! That really puts his unjust conviction in perspective. Marriage, child birth and rearing, an education and career, birth and death of family members.
1989 born here and this man is imprisonment before my arrival into this world. That's indigestible for me. 😮
Amazing human being. So inspiring. I can’t imagine how he stays so cool. Bless him.
Considering the nature of the crime for which he was wrongfully convicted, it's honestly a miracle that he survived for 35 years.
TRUE...

This guy will never recover from that , pray for him 🙏🏽
Healing for everyone involved! Compensating This Innocent Black Man Is Truly Necessary ❤️🩹#GodIsInControl🙏🏽
What does color have to do with this. If he was white , would you say this poor white man. It happens to white people, too.
This divide is a great part of the problem in this country 😢
Ya, I know. Y'all gonna bash me, but hey, I stand for all people, not just some color.
A black man gets out of prison for a crime he didn't commit, every day of the week. If that's not a racist agenda, i don't know what is. The people who put him in prison, claim to be supervisor, but apparently make the same dumb ass mistakes, over and over again. 35 years in hell, for being black.
what if he had been sentensed to death 35 years ago?
They did a study on that and on average at least 4% of people currently on death row are actually innocent. To me that is one to many.
@@RichWeigelEven one is one too many in my opinion. I think we should abolish the death penalty like most other developed countries. We should not tolerate even the slightest chance that an innocent person is put to death.
Wow, God bless and take care of this gentleman.
Why does it take so damn long
Wow man you’re strong 35 years and still look good …sue the justice system for wasting your life! 😢
There is far too much of this happening, especially to black community, imagine if you were put in this situation. Those responsible for this failure should be jailed. 😎
It is obsoletely disgusting how the US justice system functions. What needs to change, is that Judges or Jury who wrongfully convict a person should be sent to jail for the same time as the innocent suspect. If you accidentally kill someone, you still go to jail yes? So why not go to jail for accidentally taking a man's life away by sending him to jail without sufficient evidence?
How many more stories like this will we need before serious reform of justice system occurs??? So happy for this man and his family. But it should NEVER have happened!
Another black man. Wrongfully thrown in prison.
Amerikkka!
The system isn't broken. It's working exactly how the devil's designed it to.
TRUE.
35 years in prison? About time wouldn't you say...
🔥😳🧡😳🧡😳🔥
so many innocent black men smh
Amerikkka!
My question is how is he been compensated for such a miscarriage of justice ?
I am 38 years old and this is one of the saddest things I've ever seen in my life but luckily he is a handsome guy seems to be very youthful so maybe he can have children still get a lot of money after the lawsuit and live happily ever after.
The family of victims always wants to convict and punish criminal defendants. They want someone to pay for what happed to their loved one. But "someone" isn't good enough. I know there are other innocent people rotting in prison because of this. We need to account for this bias in criminal proceedings.
There are so many, who you will never know; who support you. Be compensated for the time you served helping others. You deserve that, its honest pay. I hope you also get the emotional support for the trauma you have experienced. 💕
It is good to see them making some room in the prisons for all the MAGA going in.
AMEN TO THAT! 😊
since the 80s bro that’s crazy
May God continually watched over and carry you. My heart breaks for all those lost years. You are a very brave, strong man and you are a Saint in my eyes. I’m so very proud of you - Enjoy your life to the fullest. ✝️🙏🏽 Hugs and continued prayers.🤗
DAMN
That is awul, awful, awful
All the money in the world won’t make up for lost time. Do better! This is so sad. Glad he’s out now. Still doesn’t fix things though. Never will.
His attitude is very uplifting even after this terrible torment of life.
35yrs???? I av no words. Sad
Is the DOJ or the state going to financially compensate him for the 35 lost years?… Justice must go both ways.
Wow 35 years. Geeez insane glad he’s out !
May God continue to prosper you and your family Brian. I am glad you were able to be free. It is sad that some people never will be free who are innocent.
Injustice upon injustice
So much pain so much memories lost but faith keep him alive
God bless him! He was so composed and compassionate during the interview here. Truth hurts sometimes but always will prevail!
EVERY OTHER DAY THERE’S A WRONGFUL CONVICTION OVERTURNED FROM THAT ERA I’M NOTICING A PATTERN
Mannnnn do you know the trauma he endured???
Justiciable...
Wow!What situation do difficult to happend 💔those case!Blessing and Love❤🌍
I am so happy that the truth was learned. Something needs to be done about putting innocent people in jail and keeping them so long.
Wow...another brother tht went tru hell...thnk God hes free🙏🏾🙏🏾✌🏿🙏
Strength in the face of such dishonesty!! An innocent heart and soul look like this gentleman after 35 years!! We are so sorry, sir.
How do you repair a life after steeling THIRTY FIVE YEARS from it?!?!?!
35 years? Y’all took his life from him ! And someone should pay for that
You won’t find this story on Fox News or NewsMax…nope.
Why it seem like it ain't never a White man or White woman 'wrongfully' accused for 35 years?
That is heartbreaking but I’m so glad the truth came out.
What an absolute blessing he has such an amazing family who was there for him. He lost out on so much in the world.
You may not see the anger or bitterness. However, he certainly deserves all the good things life has to offer. ❤❤
Imagine this innocent man not 35 days 35 years,my hert just broken !!!
This man embodies “Become Better, Not Bitter”
STOP SAYING "THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN" !!! The system is working EXACTLY AS IT WAS DESIGNED TO DO!!! What are you looking at???
Because of circumstances like this is why I don't support the death penalty.
35 YEARS?! WHAT THE *F@&K?!!* 😡🤬
HES OWED SOMUCH MONEY. CONVICT THE JUDGE AND PROSECUTER FOR NOT DOING THEIR JOB!
Wow unbelievable
I hope the mother can wish him well after the part she played. She lost a son and also got an innocent man to miss the prime of his life. That's some grief
Wonderful attitude.. peace and lawsuit!
It’s messed up cause he’ll never get that time back ! He should be compensated
So when this happens how do they make it up to him other than being let go? 35 years he lost time with family, friends, career, holidays etc!
man.....35 wasted years....I'd be filing for a billion dollar lawsuit.
This is so evil. When will the evil doers get their justice dues?
Wow!
Happy holidays to you sir! I wish you a happy and prosperous new chapter to your life!
But they don't have mobile phones in prison?
He must have had one crappy lawyer back then
Its heartbreaking how black folks remain so calm after being wronged on so many levels and lives taken for granted. Hes not the only one, there several brothers in his situation.
Far to much of this.
Does he can legally take an action for those 35 years taken from him? Because I see no compesation spending all this time of this man's life for a "mistake".
Plenty of men in his situation right now in America waiting, praying for the right of freedom. Justice. How does God allow a situation like this open to experience if your innocent.
Yes wisdom and a true appreciation of life that'll for sure benefit next man but how does he live without that pain. Money and family I guess but next day the same journey will repeat and it could be you. What can we do now??
I believe the courts, judges and prosecutors should pay for wrongful convictions.
Now what is they going to do to make it right for him?!!
Bless You 🙏 Sir... 🙏
How many innocent people are languishing in the US prison system
God bless you, sir.
Utterly heartbreaking. Looks like U.S. criminal justice system needs a hige reform.
Will he ever get his lost 35yrs back? How many are in prison for wrongfully convicted .He was trying to be a police officer and by now 35 yrs in service he would have been near his retirement, Now the state should give him the equivalent salaries of a police officer yearly for the last 35yrs and plus his retirement benefits
I would sue EVERYONE INVOLVED!
Is he really free though? 'Released' is much better word.
I've honestly lost count of these " Black man wrongfully convicted of crime he didn't commit because of poor Police & DA investigations"
Somebody needs to do a count & an interview in 1 room with all the black men who have gone through this.
The sheer amount of wrongfully convicted, no, illegally convicted people should justify a forensic audit of the entire judicial system and of the police and prosecutors along with all court and prison officials!
New chapter of his life..Really.. 35 years of his life gone..That’s messed up
How many millions US$ in compensation for lost life time, lost reputation, lost income is he now entitled for? Your report does not touch that very important question. Steady updates on that required and wished for, to complete your reporr.
If there's no more racism, there will be equity, fairness, and fine, sensible judgements.
How do they find new evidence 35 years later!!!????!
There is no justice in America, you have to buy it
Man, God Bless You Sir 🙏
Just be lucky he doesn’t live in a red state like Texas. They would say he already exhausted his appeals and therefore ish out of luck.
Poor guy...what a disgusting situation.
Where was cnn back then,, HMMM
And so he received.....what after his release
The land of the free! Wow!!
