I was DM for a game once where I created a an underwater tavern called the “Drowned Mans Drink” it was a sunken pirate ship converted into a bar by its undead crew trying to raise money for a new ship.
That’s extremely creative
...... Excuse me but if possible would you mind writing an entire book about it and then posting the link so I can buy it? Seriously that is quite possibly the single most interesting premise I have heard in the past half a year and now seriously seriously would love to read about the stories of this undead crew.

Na, there's a blight on the area that dampers enthusiasm, even from "non-living" entities, like the fire. So it died out after burning for a few minutes in that one spot. Now there's just an ashy hole in the floor.
This is why True Bards are strictly regulated by the kingdom!
I like to think the bard was an assassin now who wanted to kill his target in the tavern and make it look like an accident. Since she is Tiefling she can survive the fire long enough to escape with her life.

Funnily enough, I ran a tavern like the first in a campaign of mine. The skeletons lack the sense to check how much they're being paid, just that they're being given some kind of coin, and they also have absolutely no regard for property damage or customer safety. For evidence, I present the two PCs who ordered the strongest drinks available, drinks strong enough to actually poison them and which left them pretty close to death before they finally saved enough times. I should specify that the second ordered his *after* watching the first guy almost die from the very same drink. xD

“Be advised. If you die in this tavern you WILL be conscripted into the working staff of this establishment.”

Imagine being a struggling tavern owner who can barely make ends meet due to your establishment being periodically destroyed by evil overlords, adventuring parties, and evil adventurers, and then a bard starts singing about how there are infinitely better options than yours.

They needs better adventuring parties - my rogue slips the tavernkeep gold for every barrel or fitting the barbarian destroys, then nicks it from his pockets next time he's paid. Keeps us in good with Kevin (all tavernkeeps are called either Kevin or Kelly in our campaigns)

I love how the animation of the taverns get increasingly hazy and magical as the tavern crawl goes on. It mimics the effects of one's perception as you drink more and more (going underwater where the atmosphere flows, and finally in the Watering Hole where things are floating and foggy). Very clever!

This is a D&D campaign I've been wanting to put together for years: One of the players inherits a run-down hole-in-the-wall tavern, and over the course of the game must work to build it up to a truly grand establishment, questing for unique ingredients, dealing with suspicious clientele, deciding whether to act on the rumors they collect themselves or to pass them on to younger adventurers, and building a reputation in the town, be that as a respectable pillar of the community or as a dark den of murderers and villains to be dreaded.

A lvl 20 barbarian can fight through an army, a Wizard can incinerate them, and a bard can move their hearts.

Welp, that goblin is the most adorable thing I've ever seen.
The guide we never asked for, but secretly always wanted.
This gave me some ideas for my own taverns. One that I’m going to put in my next session will be “The Wandering Keg”, an artificier based tavern. The whole 3 story building is on 12 massive legs, and moves from town to town. There’s a bar on the first floor, a tinkerers store/workshop on the second, and the top floor is an inn.
Nice idea I’m sure players would be excited to explore it or explode it.

@@veryconfused5243 They finally encountered it. After leaving the city they were in, they saw a building on the horizon. Over the course of the day, they got closer, before they realized what it was. Our artificier got very excited, and wanted to check it out. They stayed the night, ate some food, bought a few makeshift grenades (range 20/60, 5ft radius blast from impact area, 5d6 fire damage, dex save 13 for 1/2) and had a lot of fun. Only one of them got drunk and nearly burned the place down. Thankfully, being run by dwarven artificiers, they had built in sprinkler systems on each floor, so it was all good!

@@snakethesnek8598 Yeah, because she said she's tried to fight it. Since we all know that the standard tactic of bards is to attempt seduction at the beginning of combat, the kraken was clearly not into her.
Seriously, I just played the first session of a new campaign yesterday and, after defeating the kobolds that attacked the standard starting tavern, our bard's first thought of how to organize the noncombatants for evacuation was to seduce the barmaids. He decided it would be bad timing and didn't, but his mind went right there.

Without spoiling anything from the book, Poor Larry getting mocked at the start of this is so much more of a "kick them when they're down" moment.

DnD: the one pasttime that can successfully convince three individual content creators to make a THREE MINUTE LONG SONG as a trailer for a BOOK.
This is just a max level bard showing those low-level beginners what fun they can/will have on their own journey should they choose to venture forth into the unknown.

In a cosmic horror campaign, I had a royal with a painting called "Tavern From Another World" and it’s the Nighthawks painting. Anyone can enter inside it and they’ll be in the Phillies diner which is also a secret tavern and can sometimes meet denizens from different universes/realities who have also went into the Nighthawks painting in their universe.
The guy running it is the waiter in the actual painting named either Ray or Jay and speaks in an old New Yorker accent. He's always happy to see new customers, especially bards who are willing to play songs. When you come in with no customers around, you'll always find him reading newspapers or listening to the radio. He's always got an ear open for you and will happily listen to your problems.
At Phillies it's always really late at night, no matter what time it is. The atmosphere always feels lonely whenever its quiet. serves food from 1940s diner menus and has a secret menu for alcohol of all kinds from the real world back in the 1940s. Any violence or threats made will be forcefully teleported out of the painting by Jay and can no longer enter Nighthawks.

The seekers staff; once per day, it allows the user and up to 5 willing creatures to teleport to the nearest unvisited tavern, and after 1 hour, they are teleported back to the original casting location
Plot twist there is a grey area on what’s a tavern and they’re suddenly teleported to a restaurant.

Final part of the adventure: Curing the Traveler's alcohol poisoning.
This is simply inspiring. Worldbuilders can sometimes forget about the place where a player can order a warm meal and a fizzling drink. Where they can sit down and talk about their last adventure or those before them. I just love this variety of taverns to for everyone.
Jo's animation, Runesmith's concept/writing, Anna's vocals, and some hella fine music. I'm almost crying! This is gorgeous!

This gives me a fun tavern idea: Floating in Limbo, the Astral Plane, or in any area whose appearance is commanded by thought is a tavern ran by a Gith: The Mired Mind.
Since in places like these food and drink is practically infinite as it can be conjured from nothing, the real selling point is that this tavern serves as a rest stop for interplanar travelers. Additionally, payment for drink, song, and board here would be stories: the one thing the Gith proprietor cannot make out of nothing.
