Just found this video after falling down a rabbit hole on diaphragm mobility and shoulder pain, me and a friend tried this and realized it is really easy to make this happen if you sort of lock the airflow between the balloon and the lungs with your throat somehow, but do you actually mean this should be possible to do without that throat lock even?

Without closing your mouth off from your trachea it isn't possible to keep pressure in the balloon while breathing into your lungs

Great information! Basically, unless we're sleeping, we need inter-abdominal pressure for support. I can see the applications in many basic ways from standing & walking to specific activities such as yoga. Hmmm, may have to bring some balloons to my next yoga class for my students :) Thank you for posting.

You fill the ballon with air, don't breath from the ballon, that's the wrong way he exemplifies.

How many times and sets would I do of these? Would it be daily? And should I hold the balloon for a certain amount of seconds once fully blown up?
    Thanks!

This is a movement/ breathing pattern reprogramming... not a strengthening protocol. Motor learning can be as fast as 5 reps... as slow as 5 weeks. It all depends on how good your coaching is really.

  • @roxnroll8050

Very interesting - though I think I’m completely lost lol… Do you close off the air to your mouth with your soft pallet in order to breathe in from your nose? And when blowing into the balloon do you cut off the air from coming out of your nose? Like alternating passageways? I tried keeping mouth and nose open but couldn’t blow up balloon while air’s leaking out my nose. And if I keep the passage way open to both mouth and nose when breathing in, the balloon definitely deflates. What am I missing?
