      @Clark Gilmour Gartner enough with that fucking bullshit. Even if Beach fought back, the team clearly put protecting Aldrich above protecting Beach. He fights back, Beach gets cut and blacklisted across the league and Aldrich assaults another player. They’re holding his NHL dream over his head by making him shut up and take it. @@dannyz269 Hockey really hungers or at least the NHL does for this idea of equivalency, that no matter what our color,sexuality,language, we can enjoy the game. Don't get me wrong, all sports need to push this, but NHL ultimately has the idea of Hockey is for Everyone, that's why I'm mainly speaking of them, the NFL,MLB,NBA don't push that as hard all year long. And yes this is Hockey Is For Everyone, it's for the kids that should never have to hear about these things, should never fear that someone's gonna sexually use them just so that they can be big. Hockey is for kids too, it's for everyone, and nobody should feel unsafe like this, while playing.

      @@kalebkennedy327 Like Danny Z said this is a sexual assault case not a matter of equality and “hockey is for everyone”. I’m not sure what you’re implying by bringing that topic up but clearly Kyle Beach isn’t gay and is ashamed of what happened to him. It’s almost like you’re commending him for coming out. He was essentially forced into a sexual act that he did not want to do nor was he comfortable with. If by bringing up the “hockey is for everyone” conversation you’re trying to acknowledge that “hockey is for kids” and that “nobody should feel unsafe” as you say, I feel like that’s the wrong example to use. Sexual assault shouldn’t be tolerated in the NHL end of story.

    • @kalebkennedy327
      @kalebkennedy327 3 года назад +4

      @@flyinglions2223 So I'm not implying anything around Beach being homosexual or anything, here's the actual thing for Hockey Is For Everyone on NHL's site "We support any teammate, coach or fan who brings heart, energy and passion to the rink. We believe all hockey programs - from professionals to youth organizations - should provide a safe, positive and inclusive environment for players and families regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender identity or expression, disability, sexual orientation and socio-economic status." So the part I really want to highlight is the "should provide a safe, positive and inclusive environment for players and families" Yes the campaign and slogan is primarily thought towards Racism/Gender/Sexuality, the big three, but in general it just aims on bringing safety. So yeah, we can't campaign that we want Hockey For Everyone, which includes safety for players of every background, if we tolerate these things happening in our league. In saying that if the league wants to be a place where everyone can be safe and play, then it needs to be the league that pushes on punishing those heinous acts.

I hope they get to speak to each other on these matters and help each other through it. I agree that both Quenneville and Cheveldayoff should both resign, and that none of the guys in attendance of that disastrous meeting should ever get a job in the NHL again. Even if they decided that McDonough should handle it, everyone in that room should’ve seen Kyle, talked to him and made sure his interests were taken care of. And they all had the opportunity. All of them knew that Aldrich had done something wrong and still took part of the celebrations that summer. It doesn’t seem like any of those guys felt that was awkward or sickening. To their credit, I have to say that the Wirtz family’s openness and seemingly honest attempt at figuring out what really happened this year is commendable, albeit way too late. They wanted a real investigation without interference from the team, and although the case is sickening and horrific, I also understand their hesitation to react to the matter until the investigation was fully concluded. I think the impression made by both Rocky and Danny during the presentation of the Jenner & Block report showed that these guys didn’t know anything, and they felt sincere and honestly troubled during the presentation. I have to say that the way they handled this, although way too late, shows that the Wirtz family eventually made the right decision, and I’ll wait for the settlements before passing final judgment. But I’ve also considered switching over to the Kraken as my favorite team this summer/autumn, after I became aware of the allegations. I guess I’ll see what happens, and if I think the settlements are fair.

The idea that winning a Stanley cup was more important than anything is just sickening. The fact that Brad Aldrich was not dealt with immediately, allowing him to continue coaching and to have it happen all over again... It's disgusting. Everyone involved needs to be held responsible.

    Honestly, how the Blackhawks organization handled this isn't really even that shocking. For so long victims of sexual assault have been silenced, ostracized and ridiculed by default. The sexual predators, especially if they are older authority figures, are protected. Women have known this for a very long time. Most rapes go unreported. There is little doubt there are many similar still untold stories in the hockey world.
    However in the last 11 years there has been some progress. The MeToo movement and all have had a positive impact. There's a good chance that this would have been handled differently if it happened today. My takeaway is that this is a positive day for hockey. Truth is finally out. Perhaps others will follow.

    • @r4x7rx
      @r4x7rx 3 года назад

      @Henry Twinkler First, organization like the Blackhawks has a legal obligation to protect it's employees from other employees. The victim, Kyle Beach, did and does not have a legal obligation to report the assault to the police. There are several personal reasons why a victim may choose not to file an official report to. Most rapes go unreported.
      Second, if you think the Me Too movement was just women making up false charges against innocent men for "social cred"... well, I don't know, you sound like a crazy person and a rape apologist. So fuck off.

      There are moments in life that can’t be reversed. The men in that meeting, Quenville, MacIssek,Bownan, McDonough, Cheveldayoff, they FAILED in that moment. They had an opportunity to do the right thing and they looked the other way. I loved those teams, those championships- it was all a complete sham, a disgusting lie. Money will not solve the irreversible damage caused to that brave young man. There is no going back in time to the meeting when this was made known, they stole so much from this kid and future kids that were abused.

      @Jeepman89 That’s a dam good question. What would have mattered if they suspended him immediately , notified the authorities, and let the investigation take course. How would that have prevented them from winning in the playoffs???

      @Dan 18 Dude, the guy threatened to ruin is hockey career. When that is something you have dreamed of and worked for since childhood that kind of threat is serious. Of course he was physically stronger but it Aldrich is an evil predator that knows how to threaten.

      Arizona or some other garbage team should sign Kyle Beach .... that team would enable Kyle to fulfill his NHL dream. Also, fans would Show Up to Support Kyle and the team that gives him a shot. And the residual PR (similar to BLM / LGBTQ movements) would make him a Kyle Kapernick of the NHL .... NIKE would give Kyle Beach an endorsement deal ...

    Q and Chev have to go this story made me sick listening to the pain in Kyle’s voice. He’s not wrong about Donald Fher failed him when it’s his job to protect the players he represents. It’s disgusting what my team I watched growing up as a kid did to this young man and the 16 year old who their lack of actions hurt.
