My very first tank was a 10g my parents got me for Christmas when I was in high school. I stocked it with a pair of dwarf gouramis (got along great with my other fish), a small group of zebra danios (too small of a school), and a trio of swordtails. I shudder now to think I put that combo in there. They ended up moved into a 55g eventually, just because I wanted a bigger tank, but to think they were started in such a small tank.... Ugh. EDIT: I currently have a school of 9 chili rasboras in a 6.8 gallon with blue dream and jade neocardinas. It's heavily planted with both submerged and emergent plants. Nitrates stay at 0, so I have to fert regularly. They're GREAT little fish with a super low bio-load. One of the things I love about them is that they aren't skittish. Very personable fish, and beautifully colored to boot!
i started off the same but also way worse. Mind you at the time I had ZERO idea on how to care for fish and i thought all fish could go together. My first actual tank was a 20g (not that bad) but it was stocked with like 4 goldfish, 3 guppies, 5-6 neon tetras, and one molly. Horrendous choice I know. Looking back on it I wish I could apologize to each individual fish and give them a life they deserve. Now I have a 55g with 9 neon tetras (trying to slowly move it up to about 16 or 18) with some corydoras and am now starting to introduce plants into the tank. I also have a ten gallon with my betta fish Tracy who is absolutely thriving. Sorry for typing up a storm but I related a lot to how you started off and I'm glad both of us have improved on our knowledge of fish keeping and I wish you the very best on your journey
I've come to the same understanding. I had three glow Tetras in a 10 gallon and just felt like they needed more length to swim. So now they're in a 75 gallon community tank (multiple tank syndrome hit hard) I've got 2 10 gallons with a Betta and snails in each. Another 10 gallon with 5 half grown platys, shrimp, and snails. My favorite is a 36 gallon riparium with platys, zebra danios, and neon tetras. Bigger tank, smaller fish dashing around through plants and roots, love it!
I’m team ember tetra, they get a bit bigger than the Rasboras, and are a bit more lazy, but I just love their orange color so much, keep them in a group of 9 or 10, super fun lil guys.
You were entirely correct. I changed my tanks up due to this video. I had 6 neon tetras in a 10 gallon - you could barely tell they were schooling. I rehomed them to a 30g community tank (after checking with aqadvisor to make sure I had adequate space and filtration) and now they are a very cool school! They follow eachother all over the tank and are very obviously a school compared to in the 10g. I bought them 2 new neon tetra friends and seeing 8 neons school across 3ft looks amazing. The 10 gallon now holds a beautiful white body red finned male betta since I couldn't find chili rasboras locally. Now I just need to get my white clouds a bigger tank.
I would say probably not, the normal ones atleast. Dwarfs for sure yeah. Medaka's get to about 1.5" and are schooling so the normal one's I would avoid, probably best for 15 gallon minimum. Endler's are similarly sized however they can be kept without a large school like medakas. Dwarf's are 2/3 the size so I would say it could work.
3 tips. Make sure you cycle/startup your tank correctly before adding any fish, that’ll make it a lot easier to maintain. Do tons and tons of research on all of it; the cycle, the fish, the equipment, the care, all of it. Last thing be patient and find joy in the success you have, things may go wrong or take a lot of time but your research and dedication will get you there.
Definitely agree Chilli rasbora are perfect 10 gallon fish and they are hardy and beautiful. But one thing you left out was they are fussy eaters and require some of the smallest live foods that many fishkeepers only like to feed to fry. As well as tiny dried food such as repashy gel. Also they are sensitive to changes in water parameters like most fish so I'd say ideally a maximum of 25% water change if possible
They are my less sensitive fish and as long as the food fit their mouths They'll eat anything they even Pick at algae wafers they eat what they shoudln't lol and I saw one hunt a Snail one time ??? ... Cant keep bettas , corys or guppies in a 20 gallons long aquascaped Alive for more than a years t chili have resisted a lot of bad lucks compared to other fishs so I consider them Hardy lol
Nice Video, pleasant to watch as every time :) "I'm not saying like you just became a criminal" Fun Fact: In Germany, you would be a criminal if you keep any fish at all in a 10 gallon. The minimal aquarium size to keep legally fish in it in Germany is 54 liters (about 14 gallon). So also, the whole fishbowl problem is principally nonexistent here in Germany.
to add here: the law just says "kept adequately for the species". the 54l requirement comes from a different document (aquarium stores are bound to it, as in, they have to mention it to you), and while it is sensible for most fish, for betta it's a bit weird. having a half moon or other long finned variants in a 15g can be detrimental to them.
I thought in EU the minimal requirement was 5.5gal for a fish tank? At least, for a single betta? Idk I'm US and my 5.5gal tanks are single bettas and a few small snails with mostly floater plants, anything smaller I put small bugs in ^^'
@@discordiacreates6669 You are right, but every Member of the EU can be stricter in its law than the EU pretends (most of the time). The EU itself just sets the limits in which the national laws can operate. So in conclusion: In every EU nation a fish tank have to be at least 5.5gal, but every nation with its own law can go beyond that 5.5gal minimum standard.
@@MADONITE ah ok, so what I've been told is right, it just doesn't factor in some areas going beyond that with stricter regulations in some areas. Awesome and thank you, I'll remember that if I ever decide to move outta this country ^^'
Some really good points here! Never had a 10 gallon; but your suggestions make sense. Always good to have lots of swimming space for each individual fish. Love chili rasboras and CPD's! Awesome video overall.
Got my first tank for Christmas, 10 gallons. I have 3 Kuhli Loaches and 6 shrimp a mix of rainbows and Armanos. Lots of Java moss and ferns with a piece of driftwood.
this timing is insane. i just bought a tank (hasn't even arrived yet) and was planning to keep neons and this video popped up on my feed. thank you for the advice. gonna look into chili rasboras immediately.
I bought a school of 7 chili rasboras for my second 10g scape, about 10 months ago. They shipped to my house. Every single one is still alive. They hardly get scared by anything and honestly are kinda derpy, often missing the food they are trying to eat😂 overall they are a super chill vibe fish and really pretty, just know that some may not color up as beautifully as you see on RUclips if you don’t have many shadowed spots in your tank.
I personally think that if it's a species only tank. Then you could probably put around 8 neons or rasboras in a 10g. Because I've seen may fishkeepers do it successfully I definitely agree with you about black skirts. 10g is way to small for them!
The key to male/female guppies in 10, is a 2.5 Gallon to raise fry next to it and a 55 gallon next to that full of cichilds to cull weak, ugly, excess fry. Especially if you are like me and dont have the heart to cull with clove oil. If you are breeding non generic guppies tho you can probably sell the sub-adult to your LFS for a few bucks.
well, colour me surprised! I have a 12 gallon, so I dont exactly know if my stocking is amazing, but looking at it, I think it may be ever so slightly overstocked
My 10gal was going to be just a shrimp colony but I ended up with 7 ember tetras. I'm working on getting a 35gal set up so eventually they'll be moved there so I can get shrimp like I planned.
Like most of us; I made the mistake to buy tetras for my first tank. I had a school of 6. I could see they were unhappy. I gave them to a friend and I got my first betta instead. One happy little dude in his heavily planted tank.
I’ve got a clawed frog in a 10 gallon. I mean, not super ideal, but he’s healthy. Also I meant to have a dwarf frog in there which would’ve been a perfect fit, but I had a miscommunication with the guy at the fish store and forgot to check for, yk, the claws.
My 10 gallon started out with 6 Leopard Danios, 6 Pygmy Cory's, a Dwarf Powder Blue Gourami ,three nerites, and a Cappuccino Lava snail. It worked out well, but the Danios were definitely too big for a ten gallon. They lived well enough though, only to die from genetic malfunction (as is the danio way). Currently, I have a Betta, Khuli Loaches both black and striped, and Amano Shrimp, along with the three nerites, and the lava snail. My wife is not a fan that more than half our fish hide all day. But Khulis be Khulis. The shrimp took about a month to get used to us. Both iterations have pest snails. The first tank started with Ramhorns, and eventually pond snails over took them. The current tank, I thought I had avoided them, but after two months, they're suddenly visibly in the tank. The just took their time to appear.
My girlfriend had some questionable stocking methods in her 10 gallon.. and after a tragedy, I got her a 20 for her betta thats been in a bowl. While I’m not a fish owner, I absolutely love going over there and seeing her beta dart across the 20long. His former home was pretty sad. We got a few panda corys and shrimps and they all look to be getting along well!
Ember tetras!!? I wish youd listed them. I definitely thought it was fine to put them in my 10gallon. 7 of them with a white female betta in a planted tank. It worked out very well, thankfully. But now i feel guilty :(
I have a 10 gallon with a female betta and 7 embers. They get along fine and the school loves to hide in the huge cryptocorne I have in the middle of the tank.
I think embers aren't true nano fish but they're often grouped with them so I think it's ok as long as they're kept at six individuals minimum and taken care of well since they're still one of the smallest tetras, just not the actual smallest ^^
Thanks for this! Moving off to college and being an animal lover, but only being allowed a 10 gallon in the dorm, I was planning on tetras as thats what ive heard, but now definitely not!
I just moved my betta from a 10 to a 20 gallon community and have been thinking of setting the 10 back up for a clown killi pair as the centerpeice and some chilli rasboras. The obviously a cleanup crew, neocaridina shrimp and maybe like, 1-2 nerite snails
So I have question as a new fish keeper. My first tank is a 10 gallon and I have built a custom 3 gallon sump with a bunch of extra filtration. I have a school of 10 rummy nose tetras, 11 neon tetras, 10 pigmy corys, 5 kughli loaches 1 amano shrimp, and one shortfin betta. I got a longer tank so they have lots of horizontal swimming space, nice sand and soil substrate, live plants, on the bottom and floating plants. As long as I make sure the water conditions are good for them and everyone is eating is that alright? The fish seem very happy despite this being considered overstocked to many people. I would agree if the 10 gallon didnt have my sump but the water quality seems very good and they seem to have enough space to swim and make teritories in the plants.
My current 10 gallon is shrimp and snails, no fish - and I think it's perfect. But as a beginner I was given bad advice, and so my first 10 gallon had harlequin rasboras and a little orange gourami. I have learned so much since then.
My 10gal has 3 Cory's, my 2 year old beta boi, lots of Amazon sword and jungle val. Seems like 10 gallon tanks(smaller tanks) are easier to take care of live plants in my experience. Never have algae issues in my 10gals like I do in bigger planted tanks, and in general more growth. Idk.
I stocked my 10 Gallon tank with a Male Betta(very docile), 1 Honey Gourami, 6 small neon Tetras, 1 Mystery snail and 1 Ramshorn snail, so far they are doing pretty good. After watching your video I'm going to upgrade to a 30 Gallon Tank.
This is abuse. Sorry to break the news. You should never put anything with a betta in the first place but that’s already extremely overstocked. It’s always “fine” until it’s not
While I agree that I wouldn’t put gouramis with betttas for the gouramis sake especially honeys which are super peaceful, and the betta would probably bully them. The idea that you can’t house any other fish with bettas is simply untrue. It’s one of those things that you hear people say in the hobby. But once you actually look into it realize they’re vastly exaggerating for…whatever reason. You can put multiple types of fish with bettas, ottocinclus, Corydoras, smaller duller rasboras, khuli loaches, snails just to name a few. Now there’s always a slight chance your betta may just be a huge asshole, and try to beat up literally anything it thinks is alive. In which case yeah, don’t house anything with THAT betta. But that in no way applies to the entire species. And I’m kinda of tired of hearing people propagate that rumor.
I'll admit I did small tetras in a 10 when I started out, they've been living in a 20 for the past 4 years now... I've been looking for chili rasboras for weeks now! For now, I got my old guppy and endlers in there with a few amanos and cull neocaridinia Also, I'd love ideas for what can live with shrimp peacefully too if you decide to do more videos like this ☺️
Nice! What about chilli rasboras AND a Betta? Is it too much for a 10 gallons? I have 7 chilli rasboras and 3 Amano shrimps. I'm thinking of adding one Betta to the tank, is it too much?
9 years ago when I bought back a tank the seller told me that I could put 10 ember tetra with my betta in his cubic 10g tank, I was horrified to see what were their need and was lucky enough to have someone that accepted them in a more or less 60g tank
@@sheihokee4941 I think it’s a bit crowded but it’s fine as long as you have a very heavily planted tank so the tetras and betta can get away from each other when they need to.
Year and a half ago I started keeping aquariums again. I started with 12 pygmy cories in a 24 gallon display tank and 12 lambchop rasboras in a 10 gallon quarantine tank. And soon it became very obvious how these sizes of aquariums are totally wrong for these fish. 12 pygmy cories in the 24 gallon were literally disappearing - the aquarium looked empty from how under-stocked it was. If I would not have had problems with my pygmy cats, I would have added double (if not triple) the amount of them in 24 gallon. Lamchop rasboras on the other hand looked very crowded in 10 gallon. It looked like they were struggling for swimming space and they were fighting a lot over territory. Now they live in a 20 gallon tank and are not fighting anymore. But to be honest even this 25.6 inches long tank looks like its not giving them enough space to school around.
I’ve got a 10 gal with 6 pygmy, 1 male betta and they get along really well. How many chili rasboras do you think I can add? Planted with HOB and heater.
I have a 12 gallon with five male guppies and a Nerite. Thanks for confirming I'm doing something right! (at least for the guppies) Now I have to figure out live plants...
Can't recommend anubias enough for a beginner. I'm still learning so I've lost other plants but all of my anubias are thriving. Slow growth but really hearty.
6 cpds, 3 emerald eye rasbora, 6 pygmy cory, 3 african dwarf frogs, scarlet badis, peacock gudgeon(this is the only one I disagree with being in a 10 gallon tank, it would be hard to remove him, though, as the pH is way different than my other tanks) scarlet badis. i have them in a blackwater lowtech highly planted 10 gallon. :)
Hey I hope your tanks are doing well, I am setting up a 10g and the stocking you mentioned is similar to what I want to put in the tank. My question is how the bioload of your tank, nitrates reading?
I second this video! After loads and loads of research and contemplation i started my first ever planted tank over a month ago. I just added some chili rasboras a week ago with my blue neocaridina. They’re starting to color up and warm up to their environment, they have lots of personality! PS; I live in a small room so i had space only for a 5.5 Gallon so i have about 8 of them for now.
I have guppies male and female in my 10 and no problems. But it's covered with water lettuce and hornwort winding through it with a philodendron growing out the top... just add water and scrape glass... vacuum is just quick to do just that, but not changing water
10 gallons should at least have 1 alligator gar, 2 arowanas, 1 turtle, a couple of Oscars, all types of goldfish, a pair of freshwater angel fish AND FINALLY a few plecos to clean the algae
I know this was posted a while ago but wanted to ask. I have cube tank that is just under 10 gallons and wanted to do chili’s in here but am hearing mixed thoughts about it. What can you recommend? 🤟
So, weird question. If I wanted to make a Gameboy (shell) into an aquarium decoration, how would I do that? I want to weather an old Gameboy shell to look like it was dropped off a dock or something. Won't silicone get all goopy? Or is there a brand that runs clear?
I have a 16 gal Fluval Spec which in reality is like a 13 gal with a 3 gallon space for the filtration chamber. I had a breeding pair of Gardneri Killifish and 2 mystery snails. I lost the female to internal parasites unfortunately but I saved the male with Fritz Paracleanse. That tank fully planted with anubias, elodia spider wood, and river rocks is a palace to him compared to how they are kept with breeders in shoebox sized tanks. The male leaves my snails alone and basically acts as a more active Betta. We really should normalize Non-annual Killifish as Betta alternatives because they are really low maintenance. A Male killifish is a perfect 10 gallon showpiece fish
I recently added 6 harlequin rasbora to my 10 gallon tank, and regretted it within a week. The space in the tank felt too constrained for them, cuz they zip around so fast and like to school. I gave them away to another dude who put them in a 20 gallon, and I could really see the difference in their behaviour. The 20 felt a lot more natural and they were more at ease and could school better. So totally agree with Chris on this.
I've had success with ember tetras in our 10 gallon. Just bumped up to 11 of them with a few white cloud minnows, so we'll see how they do. I considered chili rasboras, but they were hard to find, and I've heard they can be hard to feed. If our embers don't last, we'll try the chili rasboras next.
Can you put some dwarf rasboras and some dwarf shrimp in a 10 gallon together? My tank is very planted with some drift wood I haven't put anything in it yet. I wanted to know if I could or not.
Hi, I'm thinking of making a walstad tank that is about 5-10 gallons, do you think these would be good for that? Also anything else to be aware of when keeping these fish, like ideal ph and temps, how many should be together, good food, etc.? 谢谢Chris!
Is it possible to stock a community in a 10 gallon conscientiously? Is there a center piece and/or cleanup crew that would synergize well with chilis in a 10 gallon?
Hi, I have a few questions, I have a tank of approximately 10 gallons, and I currently have 3 fish, a small pleco named Alex, an angelfish named Alexia, and an irisdecent shark named Alexandra. I know that the fish are not the best for the aquarium I have, but unfortunately I have limited options, the irisdecent shark was a gift from my mother, who didn't know how much they grow, I'm already looking for a place to relocate her, but unfortunately I live in a small town, and the only option is artificial lakes, and I'm afraid to let it go and something will happen, like another fish will eat it. I would like to know your opinion, and if you have any idea what to do in this case, my plans for the aquarium were to make a nano, but unfortunately my mother likes big fish, and does not understand that the aquarium is too small for goldfish or carps, for example, any help is welcome thank you very much, and sorry for any typos, english is not my first language.
After watching so many videos, doing a lot of research, and figuring out the cost, I think I'm ready for a 10 gal and Betta with plants. I used to put them in a vase when I was a kid, and now that I know they were suffering I'm not gonna repeat that same mistake
I got some Chilis for my 10 gallon because they were cheap and I'd never had them. I fell in LOVE. They've been upgraded to a 29 gallon so I can get more~ ^^
Hey Chris! I just got a ten gallon tank all cycled and am ready to get new fish this weekend, and was thinking about getting chili Rasboras, but are you sure you can fit 12-20 of them in a 10 gall since I searched on Google and it said they grow up about an inch?
Don’t stress. He’s correct. They’re tiny. They get to about 3/4 of an inch max. Weirdly, the images he used in the video was maculata dwarf rasbora which is what I keep. It’s a cheaper option that don’t get as rich red but are still beautiful.
If the tank is heavily planted but not to the point of restricting fish movement and is well maintained with tank parameters then the stocking amount is on the higher end, lower end if there's few or no live plants and minimal maintenance. Though which is which on those dwarf rasboras, I'm pretty sure the chilli, exclamation point and phoenix rasboras all get mixed up, but a full inch in length should be an outlier for all three if you get an unusually big one or they REALLY like your food choice ^^'. Hope that helps any bit, I'm currently looking for some more phoenix rasboras for a 20gal and they're one of the brighter options of them ^^
you all seem to be alot more well versed in aquariums, so I've got a ten with a single betta and alot of live plants, should I add any other fish ? i considered the pygmy coridoras but im not sure they'd fit in with the live plants and I don't want to mess my water up too much with overcrowding :')
wish i saw this sooner and did some more research regarding tank sizes. i got 4 neon tetras for my 1.5 gal and they all are after turning fully white and loosing their tails.
My trustee Fish Shop's owner keeps some cubic planted nano-tanks stocked with fish like Chili Rasboras, Endler's Livebearers and Green Neons or with Red Cherry shrimps directly in the entrance room and they are absolutely spectacular. I've kept Neons and Cardinals (and now Congos) in 40- and 50-gallons and I must say they seem to absolutely love all of that space, thus forcing them into a 10-gl. doesn't sit well with me. I'd say even a 20 is at the very limit for them (and absolutely a big "No" for Congos! - For them, at least double the capacity is the bare minimum), they still would feel cramped.
Any recommendations for nano schooling fish that would look good in a 10 gallon black glass tank? I've moved my fish to a 20 gallon long planted tank and have an empty I don't know what to do with.
Hey Chris I was wondering if my 10 gallon is too small for white clouds? I keep them and they do well in the 10 but the fry don’t survive cause there’s not enough room. I do move them outside into big ponds in the warmer months.
I have a 14 gallon (54l EU), and I started off with Chilli Rasboras and Galaxy Rasboras right away. Now after almost 2 Years of having them I must say that I wouldn't necessarily keep them together anymore, or at least keep the group of Galaxies minimal in comparison to the Chilis. The Galaxies where so happy in the tank that they started very vigorously to show breeding behavior (which is very interesting to watch ngl). I had some babies pretty much instantly. But they where so territorial that they started to harass the Chili's, so most of them where hiding behind the plants all the time. I made other mistakes like having my light to bright which have contributed to this problem. I sadly had a dropsy outbreak relatively early in my 14gal journey so I must have taken it in with the fish (it was a new stocking and both fish where in the same display tank at the pet store so quarantine wasn't really sufficient anyway. Mind you I was a bloody beginner). The outbreak reduced mainly some of the Galaxies, which was really sad, but I got a hold of it eventually and now everyone is happy and healthy. I just noticed how the Chillis are out more often. They are much calmer in general. Aaaaand the Galaxies have a bioload that's unbelievable lol. It just seems like so much poop that's coming out of them. So when I start another tank someday, I would go with the Chillis all the way. They can get older anyways :)
Chillis are weirdly hardy. I got one by accident in a group of dwarf rasboras and that little fish lived for over 6 years. Including surviving my beginner years 😅
Having a 10 gal, I clicked on this so fast XD I know I've been stocking mine wrong, and I've been purposefully not adding fish as others die off to give everyone left more room lol
I’ve been waiting to get chili rasboras since October but a nearby LFS said they couldn’t get them so I’ll be driving out half an hour to another LFS that has them in stock! I’m also getting some cherry shrimps from another local breeder this weekend. Hope that’s considered good husbandry? I’ve just been letting my tank sit and the plants grow since July, no other inhabitants other than snails. Hope all goes well!

are ember tetras ok in a 10 gallon?
I started out stocking em wrong in my first day. Lessons were learned from that mistakes. We keep on learning everyday in the hobby.
exactly, same !
At least you did better than me, I was stocking them with goldfish 😭😭
Well, now I have a planted tank with much better stocking options

A single dwarf gouramis would be fine in a 10 gallon by themselves
My personal favorites for a 10 gallon are medaka aka rice fish. They are also very beginner friendly
forgot to mention that one!
After washing fish related content (with no tank of my own) I think I’m ready to begin stocking my own tank this year. This helped. Thanks!
yay!! welcome to the hobby!

Cant keep bettas , corys or guppies in a 20 gallons long aquascaped Alive for more than a years t chili have resisted a lot of bad lucks compared to other fishs so I consider them Hardy lol
Never have issue feeding them and my school survived two moves. Weird.
I see mine eating all the detritus worms and tiny bugs in my tank
Love how Millie just stared me down, like "Sit Down, Motherbleeper! He just started"
Nice Video, pleasant to watch as every time :)
"I'm not saying like you just became a criminal"
Fun Fact: In Germany, you would be a criminal if you keep any fish at all in a 10 gallon.
Awesome and thank you, I'll remember that if I ever decide to move outta this country ^^'
lmaoo xD
Some really good points here! Never had a 10 gallon; but your suggestions make sense. Always good to have lots of swimming space for each individual fish. Love chili rasboras and CPD's! Awesome video overall.
tysm!
@@FishForThought Of course! Happy new year!
I have a 15 gallon FluvalFlex with 1 betta and 4 ember tetras. I’m loving it, was thinking about getting a small loach in there too
Got my first tank for Christmas, 10 gallons.
Because I've seen may fishkeepers do it successfully
I definitely agree with you about black skirts. 10g is way to small for them!
I usually stock my 10 gallons with 25 goldfish and 5 plecos to keep the tank clean along with 9 arowanas.
🤣🤣🤣
😂
no bala sharks??
I think Threadfin Rainbowfish look amazing in a 10. The rasboras reminded me of them because of how *dainty* they are
I'd personally go for a bigger tank for them but 10 gal def isn't the worst
Wait, I thought the rule of thumb was 10 betas per 1 gallon 🤔
He was joking when he said that, I have 130 better in my 10 gallon sorority😌
I breed red neon blue eye rainbows in a 15 gallon….would love to see more videos about 15 gallon tanks, particularly planting ideas.
Recently got dwarf gold barbs for my 10 gallon they stay very small and school pretty well.
I got 15 gallon with a female betta
Should I add some tank-mates and what tank mates
You know it's gonna be a good day when you bump the tetra drill rap with the morning coffee
But now i feel guilty :(
Putting them in a 10 gallon tank, I think this is totally fine
I have a 10 gallon with a female betta and 7 embers. They get along fine and the school loves to hide in the huge cryptocorne I have in the middle of the tank.
I think embers aren't true nano fish but they're often grouped with them so I think it's ok as long as they're kept at six individuals minimum and taken care of well since they're still one of the smallest tetras, just not the actual smallest ^^
my bad I totally forgot to mention embers. They are great in a 10 gal
@@FishForThought I have a school of ember tetra with my betta in a 10g and this comment put me at ease 😅
funny thing is that i literally just put neon and rummynose tetras in my 10 gallon yesterday
Ummm hey could you lmk where to find the livebearer chart @ 0:46 ? I love the pop art look and love livebearers.
I wouldnt pair a betta with a gourami tho im glad your betta cool w it tho
For now, I got my old guppy and endlers in there with a few amanos and cull neocaridinia
Also, I'd love ideas for what can live with shrimp peacefully too if you decide to do more videos like this ☺️
for sure!
Nice! What about chilli rasboras AND a Betta? Is it too much for a 10 gallons?
I have 7 chilli rasboras and 3 Amano shrimps. I'm thinking of adding one Betta to the tank, is it too much?
neons love being in large schools and thrive in large tanks in a school, plus a single species neon tank looks amazing when it's large and scaped well
9 years ago when I bought back a tank the seller told me that I could put 10 ember tetra with my betta in his cubic 10g tank, I was horrified to see what were their need and was lucky enough to have someone that accepted them in a more or less 60g tank
wow? i thought it was ok ? i learned it was right and its not anymore T-T
@@sheihokee4941 always seemed fine to me
@@sheihokee4941 I think it’s a bit crowded but it’s fine as long as you have a very heavily planted tank so the tetras and betta can get away from each other when they need to.
Bro u don't need a 60gal for a .8 inch fish
@@typicallyusual6984 yeah I've kept them in 2 foot tanks with bettas before and in nano tanks and they do well. Only 0.8inch.
We all started with the worst choices for stocking in the beginning. Admitting we have a problem is the first step to recovery.
How many male endlers can you put in a 10 gallon, would there be room for a small clean up crew?
I got a 10 gallon for my birthday looking for stocking ideas.
Would you be able to put a school of chilli rasbora's with a betta? Or a dwarf gourami?
THANK YOU‼️‼️ it took WAY too long into the hobby for me to realize that the most popular fish are honestly not even the best options half the time
I second this video!
I've a 11 gallon aquarium with 2 glo tetra, 2 zebra danios, 3 molly fish. Is it okay?
Love my embers and pencils. (Moved them to a 20 long). Feed them xtreme krill and it really brings out the red
I have guppies male and female in my 10 and no problems. But it's covered with water lettuce and hornwort winding through it with a philodendron growing out the top... just add water and scrape glass... vacuum is just quick to do just that, but not changing water
I have 7 celestial pearl danios in a highly planted 10 gallon aquarium. Also keep the flow pointed towards the back so they can swim the stream.
I would like to know your opinion, and if you have any idea what to do in this case, my plans for the aquarium were to make a nano, but unfortunately my mother likes big fish, and does not understand that the aquarium is too small for goldfish or carps, for example, any help is welcome
thank you very much, and sorry for any typos, english is not my first language.
After watching so many videos, doing a lot of research, and figuring out the cost, I think I'm ready for a 10 gal and Betta with plants. I used to put them in a vase when I was a kid, and now that I know they were suffering I'm not gonna repeat that same mistake
How many chili's can I put in my 5 gallon? I have around 10 shrimp in there. Is that considered overcrowded already?
For a ten gallon planted tank, how many chili raspboras and how many pigmy coryadoras can be placed together?
I have a group of six neons in a 15 1/2 tank. Is that a bit overstocked I think there is a extra 5 gallon filter they will go in.
Hope that helps any bit, I'm currently looking for some more phoenix rasboras for a 20gal and they're one of the brighter options of them ^^
I have 3 grown Oscars and a Red Fin Shark in my 10 Gallon tank. They seem happy, they just hover in place all day.
While not a fish, the dwarf frogs you can find in a lot of pet stores live well in a 10 gallon.
I have a forty gal. show tank ready to stock; who should I put in there?
My 10gal is my quarantine and hospital tank! It's a great size as it fits my adult mollies if they are sick better than the 2-5g range
you all seem to be alot more well versed in aquariums, so I've got a ten with a single betta and alot of live plants, should I add any other fish ? i considered the pygmy coridoras but im not sure they'd fit in with the live plants and I don't want to mess my water up too much with overcrowding :')
wish i saw this sooner and did some more research regarding tank sizes. i got 4 neon tetras for my 1.5 gal and they all are after turning fully white and loosing their tails.
How many Guppies would you put in a 10 gal? I have 1 dwarf guppy and 2 normal guppies and I’m worried I’m overstocking
I have white clouds and two random pygmy corys in my 10 gallon. Plus the pest snails. My white clouds have turned a chocolate brown with a red strip.
Could chili Rasboras possibly be tank mates with a beta?
I stuck 5 gold white cloud mountains minnows in a 10 gallon with a betta and I get paranoid that it could be too small
Any recommendations for nano schooling fish that would look good in a 10 gallon black glass tank? I've moved my fish to a 20 gallon long planted tank and have an empty I don't know what to do with.
In your opinion would a school of 10 or so chili rasboras be okay with a beta in a 10 gallom?
Can I put chilli rasboras in betta tank. My betta is docile. Problem is will chilli rasboras gin nippers?
I have a 55 gallon with 2 giant danios I had for a while from another tank I plan on getting 4 more giant danios what else can I stock it with?
Hey Chris I was wondering if my 10 gallon is too small for white clouds? I keep them and they do well in the 10 but the fry don’t survive cause there’s not enough room. I do move them outside into big ponds in the warmer months.
Finally new wallpaper for Millie fans 0:16 🎊
lmaOOO
What about sparkling gouramis though? where do they fit? I really want some but Im having trouble deciding
Can we put a betta with chilli rasboras?
I have 3 glofish and a small algae eater in a 10 gallon tank in my wife's office. Is that bad?
Including surviving my beginner years 😅
QUESTION: what would be a good “centerpiece” fish to go with a school of the chilli rasboras?
A honey gourami!
Are Galaxy rasboras ok in a 10 gallon shallow? + how many is a good number
My grass carp would beg to differ. It loves its ten gallon. You can tell because it's always hugging the sides of it.
Yeah, I caught a whole tuna and put it in a fish bowl, it loves it so much it never closes its eyes!
