This is a fun easy diy. I used to sew more and now I do paper crafts more. If time permitted I would craft all the time! Great share. Owl make it crafts sent me over. 💛
Thank you for sharing your precious bowl koozie idea. So glad your mom is doing better...what a blessing. Hope you do well at the craft fair...I am going to attempt to make some for home Have a great day.
So happy to hear your mom is going home. My mom was in the hospital also then rehab. It really takes a lot out of you when you have to go back and forth. Labor of love though. My needle in my machine keeps coming out. I keep tightening it but keeps coming out. I am making 50 welcome backs for my daughters wedding guests and my machine is 25 yrs old. I am worried that I will have to get a new one. I made a few bowl cozy’s from your original tutorial. I gave most away as gifts. I used team logo prints. The men love them! Thanks for all your great ideas.
@Karen Raabis you may just need to take your sewing machine to be serviced, cleaned and oiled mostly. Check locally, I would say the yellow pages but I guess today it’s all on the internet. It shouldn’t be very expensive. My first machine was a used one and quite old. It was actually very good because all of the parts are metal not plastic. I made dozens and dozens of quilts on it. Trust me it was tested to its limits. I only recently donated it when I moved to a new house, I had it over 20 years and it was from the 70’s I believe. I do have a newer fancier one now but I honestly never use any of those fancy settings, never.
Victoria DeYot thank you. I will have to do that. It has been years since I last brought it to Sears for service. I will have to find someplace new. I don’t think Sears does that anymore lol.
Karen Raabis we don’t even have a Sears anymore, so sad when I saw that. For some reason I’ve always found the sewing machine repair shops to also be vacuum repair shops? If for some reason your repair or cleaning is too pricey the usually sell used machines in excellent condition, that is how I got mine, I was a starving kid just out of college at the time. Good luck!
I had no luck selling these when I made them last year. I only made about 10 of them. I don't know why they didn't sell :( everyone says they sell like crazy for them. SO..because I love ya so much Deanna I am actually going to give it another shot and make a few more for my next show!! I will try pricing them at $8.00 and see what happens. Sometimes what sells at one show or fair doesn't even get a look at another so I won't give up on it. Also so happy to hear your Mom is on her way home and recovering.
Another great tutorial! TFS. I’m glad I’m in New England. I’m stealing all your ideas for my craft fairs. 😉 I do paper, crochet and this year sewing projects. Thank you for all the ideas, now to figure out how to put them on a 6 foot table🤣🤣🤣!
I really like that fabric. I just made five 10" and two 12" to give away as gifts. I rounded the corner on a couple and I thought they looked cute. I was wondering how much you were going to sell them for. Glad your mom is doing better and is home now. :) Thanks for sharing.
I'm glad to hear your Mom got to go home and is feeling better. I've been sick for the last couple of weeks so I haven't comment about your Mom before tonight. Sorry about that. I'm glad to see that you did this video again for this year. Can they be thrown into the washer and dryer if they get dirty?
Deanna, Since this is an older post I'm not sure you will see this but I'll post my question anyway. Do you sell these for $8 each or is that a set of 2 or 4? Or how do you price sets? I only found your channel a week ago and have been binge watching the sewing videos! Just love them. Thanks so much
Deanna, you are so right about selling these at a craft fair. Two years ago, I sold a ton of these. Unfortunately, many other people had started to make them as well, so last year I decided not to make them. However, at two of my October shows, people who bought them the year before were looking for them from me again to buy as gifts. So, I gave them my list of where I'd be for my November shows, told them I'd have them, and again they sold really well; I'd say I sold at least 200 of them at my two November shows. I also make the larger bowl size (which aren't as popular), plus the dinner plate size (which do sell pretty well since I'm usually the only one selling them). I make them exactly how you do. I know there are other patterns out there but I think this is the easiet for sewing in bulk.
Hi Elaine. Can you please tell me how you make a dinner plate size? Do you mean that you sew a 10 inch square along the seam allowance (without folding/cutting) instead of like it's done in this video? Thank you.
Glad to hear that mom is doing better. Hoping for paper craft ideas pop up again. Your sisters live in CO? I live here too. That heat must be brutal. Do all of your names start with ‘D’?
Thank you Deanna for responding. I was trying to figure out what I did wrong. I wouldn't want to give someone a bowl cozy gift only to find out it caused a fire in the microwave..

Yes wash on cold and I let air dry
I love the video! Did you use spray adhesive for the batting?

Do you actually microwave your food in the koozie? Or do you put the hot bowl (from the microwave) in the koozie after heating it up?
I microwave the food in the bowl and then put it in the koozie
These are so neat. I have made a couple of them. What batting do you use? Is that warm and natural batting? Thanks. Cindy/carrollton
Yes warm and natural
very cute koozie. Glad your mom is on the mend. How did you learn to sew? Your mom? Someone else? Self taught? Or from a class?
I watched my mom when I was young and then just pretty much taught myself
Glad to hear that mom is doing better. Hoping for paper craft ideas pop up again. Your sisters live in CO? I live here too. That heat must be brutal. Do all of your names start with ‘D’?
More ideas coming! Yes my sisters live in Colorado Springs and yes we all start with Ds!
Crafty Crafts By Deanna I also live in Colorado Springs. I love the weather here.
Great video. Curious about what you use them for ?
Hot bowls
What model sewing machine do you have? I'm looking into buying a new machine. Thanks Nikki
I made some attempted to sell. The feedback was they can get at dollar tree. Where is a good place to sell? I think they r a great idea. Thx
I sell at work and fairs
I live in colorado
Cool
I've never heard about bowl koozie. What are they used for? Thank you.
Barbara Noble they are used to place a hot bowl of soup or chili in so you don’t burn your fingers. 😊
@@KelliMcLaughlin23 fantastic idea! Ty for sharing!
Hot bowls
This is showing husband but not. How many Bowl Koozies do you make for your craft fair?
25-40
I put the cotton fabric in the microwave, and it burned... I guess I'm not going to make any bowl cozies.
Sorry that happened. I have never had trouble
