Should be called Every Wrist You Break
lol
😂
Every stretch you make
Every ligament you break
I'm Batman stevie t
Owen Smith yeah
You have to be a Terminator to play this on acoustic.
its easy on acoustic just different tone
kills my hand lol, not used to stretching my fingers so far.
Git yourself an ovation.
Robyn Highart I'm playing on acoustic..its not easy but lucky I got long fingers lol
I learned it on acoustic haha
Every stretch you take, every ligament you break...
Copycat
...for real ...
@Arnav Doom lol i was about to say that
steviet?
😂😂😂😂
You should add a disclaimer that if someone break's his wrist - you're not responsible :D
+Anton St I'm sure someone has already thought of this but if you tune your g string to g# this becomes much much easier to play. Works perfectly. The f# position
is the only tough one but its not that bad. trying to play this like this ( the way Andy Summers does it) I find to be way too hard for my fingers. I can do it but its just so much easier to play by tuning up to g#
+Duane Wilson ive always played it to warm up at gigs so ive gotten good at it so it doesn't bother much now. andy is a beast to have come up with such a great riff
Anton St I’m almost a complete beginner and this is pretty easy
Hahaha aaahaa.......!!!
I legit broke my wrist from playing this
the best teacher of all times❤❤❤
Been playing guitar almost 50 years. I've not attempted this tune until recently. For me the movement of my first finger to the 3rd of that A2 chord is WAY harder than just holding the bar!
Yeah
I played this progression yesterday, my wrist is destroyed.
100% easier to hold the full chord.
Use a capo on second frett much easier for me, all in the same key
@@rudeboyfood1755Holmes Thank you for this suggestion. I found the chords by ear with the capo on the 2nd fret and it sounds so good this way, plus it's so much easier to chord when you have short fingers like myself.
Very similar stretches to the song Message in a Bottle. Deceivingly tough!! Andy Summers is underrated.
Andy summer never been underrated
Underrated is the most underrated word on RUclips 🙄
police songs really go hard on the pinky especially message in a bottle
Weyoun VI well considering Andy Summers is a jazz guitarist yeah. Jazz guitarists are like that.
They love that 9th feel...
Best guitar teacher on youtube.
As always, a terrific lesson. Few people explain the tones, the effects and riffs the way you do. Cheers!
I remember my beginner guitar teacher in highschool 'taught' his class how to play Every Breath You Take. More like, "Here's a few beginners chords I put together." He told us it's just G, Em, C, D, and G repeated throughout the song with a down, down, down down down down strumming pattern. I always wonderes, what version did he hear?
I always remembered Andy Summers as a ES-335 player. There's a nice short video on RUclips (Andy Summers - Police guitar riffs) with him showing how he came into playing his style in "Message in a Bottle" and "Every Breath You Take" in their basic forms. It was really helpful for me in learning this song. Especially the "Message in a Bottle" part. Great stretching exercise if nothing else. Thanks Justin.
This is the third time that i look at this tutorial and I thank you that you thoroughly explained all chords and the picking sequence for the different strings to make it close to the original. Great job.Thank God for you.
Wow! what a tone. This sound's drivin me insane.
When ever I'm searching for how to play a particular song and I see Justin made a video on it, I immediately go to his video to learn. Such a great teacher!
Excellent lesson, Justin. Thanks for posting it and putting this classic in our reach! You're awesome!
By now, you are the best teacher on the web. Even when you speak, I listen to you without skipping in the video. Thank you so much!
Ciao (from Italy)
Justin, you're a great teacher and your smile is contagious
although the stretching is bloody difficult, it helps that its palm muted so you can get away without having a perfectly clean note
Now that I read this maybe that was their intention so that playing it live wasnt so difficult
Thanks for the clear and detailed advice & explanations of subtle techniques.
Andy Summers is a beast, and Justin you did a great job with this.
Awesome lesson. Good classic tune! Thank you Justin! You're the one to teach me how to play guitar while I'm online. Please, let there be The Who - Behind Blue Eyes as the next lesson. Thank you! Wish you all the best!
Justin is the mountain of knowledge and skill
Yep
Justin. You're the man! Great riff this is.
Great lesson! I've always loved this song (though none of my X's were ever worth stalking lol)
You took a brilliant tune and turned it into butter so rookies like me can understand how to play it!!
great lesson Dustin. For the very same reason (long, painful stretch of fingers) i had given up to learn that song a few years ago BUT with your lesson all changed for good ! Thank you very much.
Perfect Lesson. Thank you.
Fantastic! I was just thinking about this song today and talked with my friend about it and I felt like learning it.
That's how he does it! Like you, I thought it was all out of the barre chord shape and gave up. This does make it much easier, but the F#7 is still tough for me. You play it perfectly.
I could listen to that first "dun dun deh dun dah deh dun deh" for hours
I just saw the tab and tried to stretch my finger and gave up. But you sir, had helped me, thank you.
Phenomenal teacher.
Andy Summers is always a good palm workout.
Amen
This is one of the first songs I'm learning on guitar, and you made it super easy to understand! Thanks so much! :D
Thanks Justin! I appreciate the video! I got it down now. You are still sounding good man! Keep on rocking!
Thank you for your excellent video regarding every breath you take . I struggled with that one but thanks to you I'm sorted
Thanks for the fingering "tips" ...literally. Very helpful, as usual Justin.
Justic you are a legend guitar player. Cheers :)
WHO IS JUSTIC ? AND WHERE CAN WE GET ONE ?
Amazing Justin, you possess a remarkable talent!
Great job, that's the best guitar lesson on this song I have found on RUclips
Much thanks for this great lesson!
Excellent tutorial as always. Many thanks Justin.
Your A Natural Teacher and Excellent Guitar Player Justin, THANK YOU VERY MUCH :) :) :) HPH :)
This man understands my pain of trying to sustain that Dadd9 chord on Rocksmith
Very helpful, Justin - well done!
The best guitar teacher ever eeeever!
Found a great guitar hack for this song, tune your D string a step up to an E. the song became WAY easier for me! I also love the channel, keep up the great content!
thank you so much man for teaching me
Great job Justin. Thanks! Looking forward to trying this also with an acoustic with some effects.
The best guitar tutor on you tube by far!
Thank you, I'll have to listen more often as it'll take me quite some time to pick up Every breath you take, your explanation is good
Just found this! Thank you for very nice lesson.
This was awesome Justin! Thanks for the lesson!
thanks Justin from Italy!
hey justin! i just truly wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for all these videos and all the effort you put into them. i was wondering if maybe at some point you could post a tutorial for the acoustic part for hurts like heaven by coldplay? thanks!
You are amazing Justin.. I would love to be able to play this and you make it look easy. Love it...
Fantastic Lesson thank you so much!
What a great song and a great guitarist to learn from
Beautiful piece of music you got ta admire the composer how did he come up with this . Well done Jason for emulating it ,it's out of my league yet only been messing for a year ..
The tip helped a lot to avoid the constant stretch!! Thanks as always :D!!
Happy to help! Cheers 😊

I love you Sir !
great lesson, well explained, many thanks☺
Thank you Justin
Beerock,
That helped me out bud, cheers. Was finding that 2nd chord tricky :)
Really a good song to get better at streching... Just loving you Justin :D
Immediately I subscribed and put a thumbs up as professional guitarist bassist and drummer and keyboards and vocalist seven nights a week 30 years..... I can honestly say I love this 😂😍Oh and by the way I was playing this song on guitar and singing it 6 nights a week in a band called, "The Brothers Who," at the " Yucca Tap Room "in Tempe Arizona when it first came out ..
JUstin you rock mahn! Thnx for the tutorial! ;)
brilliant mate, thanks.
been playing guitar for like 20 years noe and tried this one and it worked great..for like 5 rounds...then my whole left hand and wrist starts aching...how much more to finish the entire song...lol (sadly, my fingers were like half an inch shorter..lol...) Great tutorial..the best I've seen so far :)
Thanks Justin
Think I've broke my wrist, need to find my electric before the acoustic kills me!
Work the song out with a capo on the 2nd fret. You will be amazed at how easy it is to play. Only the A and the F#m parts will be played differently. The rest of the song will be played the original way...except the F bar chord will change to an F chord on the 8th fret. Hope that helps you.
Thanks a lot, I will definitely try this!
There's a much easier way to play this. It's a little harder to explain, but so much easier on the fingers - you'll never have to do a stretch bigger than 3 frets and don't need a capo. Essentially, all you need to do is move the notes played with the pinkie finger to a higher string. So...
*For the first chord*: middle finger, 5th fret, E string. Little finger, 7th fret, A string. Index finger, 4th fret, G string. Last note is ring finger, 6th fret, G string.
*For the second chord*: middle finger, 2nd fret, E string. Little finger, 4th fret, A string. Index finger, 1st fret, G string. Last note is middle finger (or index finger), 2nd fret, G string.
*For the third chord*: Google image search a chord diagram for the Dsus2 shape at the fifth fret. Hold down that shape, then play the _strings_ in this order - A, D, B, D, G, D, A, D.
*For the fourth chord*: Exactly the same shape as the third chord, but at the seventh fret.
Nice......The only thing that I do differently is use my ring finger on the 6th fret G string during the first part while on the A chord. The move is a little easier for me than using my middle finger. I like playing it this way better because it is easier to let some of the notes ring out. Thanks for the tips.
robbie p Hope it helps people. I meant to say ring finger there too - good catch. :) Edited the post.
A young norm Macdonald playing the guitar ! Great video man !
Best of the best I love this song
You're so helpful Thanks!!
Excellent lesson thanks justin
Justin ! ! Your the best,, I love the way that you teach. It Really helps when you use Chord and Note Names.. as a lot of us do use Note and Chord names for ID. thanks again. Rod
Ow, I've just learnt this song by transcribing few months ago! :D But it was a nice surprise for me when I saw this video, good work!
You're the best!
Good job. Thanks
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I got it! But in fact, the stretching of the fingers are a way more harder if you play it in the original tune. It's not A but G# 😊 And went streight down to the F.
great lesson!
Очень наглядно и познавательно))) Спасибо!
Great touturial👍
It honestly sounds good with no palm muting ngl
Make the best out of Corona and learn how to play music like this - thanks for the good lesson! ..well my wrist feels like....

Great demo
Beautiful videos here. And nicely done on this one.
Awesome sir
The stretches are worth it

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks, you saved me the hell of hours... :-)
Thank you. Big help, when your bandmates gives you two hours notice for a 80s setlist.
Wow! Unique
lovely, thanks
This song is much easier than I expected
Thanks!
Norm MacDonald, you are awesome ! Just kidding.., thanks for these videos, I wish these videos were around when I was growing up reading sheet music as I think I would have enjoyed playing so much more !
