    your video is very informative in explaining that as power changes so must PSI. People who watch most RUclips tuning videos only understand "oh, just add fuel. oh get bigger injectors, etc". what Rob is explaining that each injector has a sweet spot of PSI and this is crucial for tuning high power engines. this is why "adding big injectors" isn't a smart mod for most of you guys since you aren't properly feeding the injectors with enough PSI and are probably over working the stock pump. "adding bigger injectors" without proper PSI will lead to the dribble, which will lead to idle problems and low end power decrease

    • @funnydubby6401
      @funnydubby6401 5 лет назад

      Ur partially right, adding a bigger pump and bigger injectors and properly tuning ur engine using software or a standalone ecu or ramping the factory ecu is another story. However, using a fuel pressure regulator, usually rising rate, is a mechanical way of increasing ur fuel that is sent to the engine, so that u dont have to deal with tuning ur engine as much.

    What happens if u plug up the vacuum line on the fpr

  • @flinch622
    @flinch622 6 лет назад +1

    Bit long, but referencing the regulator to intake vacuum instead of atmosphere provides some flow modulation in that it swings the effective setpoint of the regulator on demand tweaking lbs/hr available from the injectors. A sensor mounted on the fuel rail referenced to atmosphere would show pressure changes as engine demand went up and down.

  • @jakefriesenjake
    @jakefriesenjake 2 года назад

    Basically, the regulator maintains the 40psi differential.
    If the intake was pressurized to 20psi from a supercharger, the regulator would sense that 20 psi, and then automatically adjust the fuel pressure up, by 40psi (60psi in the fuel rail total)
    .

    Hello from Argentina! Great video!
    I first want to say that I'm really new on EFI, I'm trying to learn to convert an old carburator car and I know I can really sound like an idiot with my question.. but what I don't understand and I would really appreciate your comments is what about the regulators without the vacum/boost port? For ex in the case the throttle is closed you'll get a higher dP through the injector and that means higher fuel flow on the same injection time than the rated dP. is there any way to compensate with tunning? lowering injection time?
    Thanks in advance!

    How would that szenario change if it would be a n/a engine?

    • @Meyersmanx1
      @Meyersmanx1 5 лет назад

      It really doesn't change, vacuum from the intake manifold still creates vacuum, the FPR still senses that vacuum and adjusts the fuel "take or put". When you hit the throttle under acceleration the intake creates more vacuum, the FPR sees that increased vacuum on the diaphragm inside the FPR. The diaphragm moves allowing more fuel (in aviation we call it "putting"). When you take your foot off the throttle, the intake draws less vacuum, the diaphragm sees Less vacuum then reseats and "puts less" also referred to as taking. Rephrased putting is putting in more fuel to the injection or carb, and taking is taking fuel away from the injection or carb. Adding a turbo Just increases vacuum and so increases the put. Does that make sense?

    so you have to have more fuel pressure than boost pressure?

  • @DEATHWISHVQ
    @DEATHWISHVQ 2 месяца назад

    Here is a BETTER UNDERSTANDING AND VERY EASY explanation:
    If you have 45 flowing through the FUEL RAIL, it is PUSHING AGAINST the top of the INJECTOR at 45 PSI, it is knocking at at 45.
    Ok, now if your turbo is pushing 10 PSI of BOOST, it is pushing 10 PSI AGAINST the bottom tip of the INJECTOR,
    so when 45 PSI is flowing through the INJECTOR but 10 PSI is pushing against the tip, how much PSI actually went through?
    45-10=35 only 35 PSI went through the injector!
    How do we adjust this?
    when you have 10 PSI OF BOOST, pushing against the TIP of the injector, the fuel line is increased by 10 PSI because of the hose connected to your manifold, resulting in 45+10=55 PSI, so now 45 PSI FLOWS!!! ITS LIKE SELLING ON FB MARKET IF UR SELLING A CAR AND WANT 4K U ASK 5K TO GET 4K.
    I watched this video twice and even made a diagram as he spoke to understand it, but truly he made unnecessary comments that still confused me, shout out HALTECH for the better explanation.
