The nostalgia!!! The music brought me back to being 11 years old again. The recall was so strong I even felt like I was smelling the lavender floor cleaner my mom used to use back in the 80s.
I remember being that kid, watching the game's box behind a locked glass case in a store downtown, almost mesmerized. The fascination power these Sega master system and Nes game boxes had on me back is hard to describe.
Amazing. It's been for me like10 years or more without playing this game. I barely remember the songs or the stages. But when I saw the thumbnail I realized it was part of my childhood
The soundtrack of this game is great, and the gameplay. I'm surprised he took only 12 minutes to finish the game! It cost me an incredible number of attempts...
This was one of my favorite SMS games back in the day, my brother was the one who had the SMS (my other brother, my sister and myself had a Nintendo) and I would sneak into his room when he wasn't home to play it.
The soundtrack took me right back. Memories of me and my Sega Master System. I was the only kid in my school who had one, and I wouldn’t change a thing 🙂
Man, so many memories. This was one of my favorites, and probably had the best music out of any of my childhood games (Phantasy Star being another contender.) Funny how they had limited channels of audio to work with, so when the character is jumping or shooting, the bass and rhythm sections of the music drop out.
lol, i hadnt noticed that sound trick. Constraint always stimulates creativity, like the four pacman phantoms flashing one at a time because not enough memory to have them all four at the same time ..
The Japanese version is named Double Target. Mary's hair is black with a pony tail in that version. It also has much better box art than the US, though the JP game came in a cardboard box rather than a case.
I was thinking the exact same thing at first but then i remember the fifth level and never getting further than the beginning of it. I just don't think I remember that funky looking 3rd boss though 😅
OMG I remember this game. LOVED it, 2 players! Wasn't very good at it though. bought this for something ridiculously cheap, such as £5, at a car boot sale, during the Sega Saturn / Playstation 1 era, when Master System games were practically given away.
This looks pretty neat. I had both the Nes and Master System when they were current. Sadly, I missed this game and only recently heard about it. The thing I don't care for is it appears that you only have one weapon the entire game and you can't select your character at the start. I have heard that both characters play differentiate and I think it would have added longevity to the game if you could choose between the two. Question- Why does this game feature both a point and gold system? Can you spend the gold on anything or is it just an arbitrary addition?
nice playthrough. too bad he/she left out the bonus level that you reach from round 2 and some of the hidden items (like the one below the first boss). still, great to get to see that game again.
There's a bonus level in round 4 also though I never really figured out how to access it consistently. As a kid we just stumbled into it a few times. 2nd level was easy to figure out though
I don't think I ever got to six level. But now that I've seen the ending, you mean to tell me they put their lives at risk just to bring back princess carcass?! Yeesh.
The arcade version is actually worth playing... Sadly, like most Master System arcade ports, this could have been MUCH better. There was over 30 levels in the original, and they were much bigger and more fun to play, and didn't give you the jetpack in nearly every level luckily.
“..this (SMS version) could have been MUCH better.” No, it couldn’t have. You can only cram (port) so much into an 8-bit console, especially in 1986 when this game was released. I too was sorely disappointed when I first played my brand new copy of Shinobi on my SMS in 1988; not understanding at the time that an arcade hardware and an 8-bit home console system are two very different animals. Namely, the former running on a custom made motherboard specifically tailored to a title game formatted onto a laserdisc.
I was never any good at this game to be honest, many times I didn't have any idea on what to do or where to go apart from the obvious key and exit motto. Enemies would keep on respawning non stop that would almost make the game unplayable and the music was abit to tinky foe my tastes. Yet I still kinda like this game and upon the final level it has some nice graphic effects and ending is nice animated as well. It wasn't a easy game to find either. Good old Quartet.
I’m sure I remember that if you hit the pause button on the console something like 14 times whilst the games loading you get a 3 shot spread gun??? Does anyone else remember this?
Love it the only thing is Sega could have did a little more. Some one needs to do hack more levels Extra weapons an different enemy's the things I would add

The vibes of video games in the 80s, and 90s are unique.

Still remember the music after 30 years. Those eyeball lips...

yehr me too whan i was 10 in 1990 - games made for children. Strange to see it all with different eys now.
Omg!! Thanks for sharing this brings back so many memories. 😁
I remember playing this with my Grandmother when I was about 4 or 5. Great memories! Thank you for sharing.
내 어린시절 추억의 게임.... 음악만 들어도 그 시절이 생각난다 그리운 그 시절 다시 돌아가고 싶다..

Quartet was my favorite 4 player arcade game and the master system was my favorite port from arcade
YES! this game is the coolest! I loved playing this game. Thank you for posting.
This reminds me so much of my childhood. We would make up songs to the soundtrack music lol. 80's games had the best music!!!
@@EDGar-wi6np I'm pretty sure 80's video games had better music than chart topping songs of today lol!
You're right lol

Same here, memories of countless hours playing this game 😀
Did all the other kids in school have a Nintendo instead?
@@francisco1271 we were only two with Sega
@@dreia2405 I never had one. I had an Atari 2600. I remember going to my friends house and we played this game. Good times.

One of my First Games i played ☺
I loved this game, never managed to finish it.
Nice speed run here I'd say and great agility to avoid all the enemy shots. The sound effects were really unique for this classic game. Thanks.

I honestly as a 5 year old I NEVER got past the first level of this game xDDD (But I still LOVED it!)
I could get to RD. 3

That game is amazing with 2 players.
did you know that, the higher the score, the bigger mary's position gets? sergeant, capitain, and major?
Goes up as high as Colonel. It's a point total thing. I never made general so as far as I know Colonel is the highest
Enorme nostalgia 🙌🙌
marked my childhood 💓😍👌
One of the good lost games
que recuerdos.
Wow I was like 7 years old playing this I'm 41 now
As a kid I could only get to round 4 but still I had a blast playing it.
So the purpose in this game is to retrieve a corpse??
jogava muito esse muito bom

Master System should've been called Duet....
Spent a lot of time on the coop mode!
A great game, but weird sfx/gfx imo.
thanks for sharing, always loved the soundtrack. would have lovedto see the hidden bonus screens.

wow this is challenging
the furthest I have gone was RD4... never pass the boss....

jogo do capiroto,muito difícil slk!!
I’m getting some slight vibes of Air Fortress on the NES.
Gostei
Its Alice ! PS.
There was a cheat to start at level of choice. But i dont remember how.
How do you play as the guy ive always wonderd that
Edgar's the player 2 character, you can only play as Mary in single player.

Strange that it only uses 2 square wave channels for the sounds and music.
How come no one is accessing the secret bonus levels.
Eu tinha todos jogos ganhei vídeo game quando tinha 10 anos
This game used to piss me off. Ha ha. I did finish it tho.
that looks like the most confusing game on earth, but got me.
This looks like Alex kidd in MW engine, can anyone say something about it, please?
Mary is so pretty
Her Japanese variant in Double Target makes her look anime like.
Cross-eyed Mary
N sei pq, mas eu chamava essa menina de garotinha de dez anos quando eu era criança, jogava com meu irmão mais velho
The game is hard.
Yuri end
Who else is here cuzza Lost Judgment?
donkey kong games are shorter
is this the shortest longplay?
and does really take 12 minutes to finish?
This game was awesome but had the lamest final boss ever.
マリーが年増でブサイクに‼️(苦笑)
Decent, but could have been better.
The arcade version is much better.
The arcade version is awesome. This is shockingly bad!
