Thanks for an awesome video on the modification of your Tool Pro sandblasting cabinet. I have purchased all of the parts to modify my Tool Pro cabinet as per your instructions. My wonderful partner has just finished making a mobile stand for it, he does the metal work, and I do the furniture restoration. I was wondering if you would be able to help me out by telling me how you wired up your two external lights and how you fitted them to the top of your cabinet please?
That's awesome and I'm glad you found value in the vid😃. I'd have to look at it when I get home to remind my self 😂 the lights where wired to come on with the original switch. If you send me an email to rustyins@gmail.com I could send you some pictures when I return home if you like 😃👍🏻
Yep, de-greasing is pretty important mate. saves crap from getting on gloves too.important if painting stuff later. have a look at Electronic Rust Removal.A lot of different setups.can be really handy for restoring stuff.pretty easy to setup. Great video mate. Enjoyed watching it. top stuff.
hi thanks for video i modified my cabinet by making it wider from front to back so i could fit 16inch mag wheel in cabinet but never thought of lowering the shelf now i can stand wheel upright thanks for the idea. was a bugger of a job getting it apart but worth the trouble
@@rustyinspirations i have been modifying the y shaped Chinese gun made new air jet and nozzle uses less air and better blasting , to do a very bad commodore 1982 model 15 inch around 5 to 10 minutes
Very tempted to buy one of these have used a few different industrial ones in engine reco shops i worked in there are the dry type and another that also uses water that flows through with the glass beads, this type tends to be much cleaner when doing cyl heads etc as the beads don't tend to stick in the oily threads etc. Most places actually used line marking glass beads as they were a lot cheaper plus running lower pressures tends not tto smash the beads to powder as quickly 60 psi would certainly be much better than 120. The ones that use water are also good for building forearms as they have a hell of a kick.
G’day Grant😃 very interesting. Iv seen a little bit on building a wet system. I might have a crack at it some day. Thanks for sharing, much appreciated 😃👍🏻
Maaaate, I too have this same Blaster and I think i bought it on sale for roughly the same price.. Its a great thing but average at best without a decent air compressor. I already had decent compressor however if you were needing to buy one as well its not worth the expense (in my opinion) I have not modified mine in any way however after watching your video I think i'm definitively going to get hacking into it. I like having the ability to blast items as I go and at my own pace. Great review..
@@rustyinspirations I have added a shop vacuum, the same as what you have done.. I have also added extra lights, I put LED strip light on the inside which seem to do the trick but lights on the outside is a good idea.. Without doing those two things, it’s more or less unusable because you simply cannot see anything..
Very useful video..... I ended up getting my parts from Valvewarehouse, Australia wide delivery and cheaper than the "Green Shed" much of a muchness I guess. Planning on painting the inside of my cabinet white........I have no idea why they paint them Red....
Thanks legend😀. I couldn’t agree more. You are right. the alloy super cut would look incredible raw. maybe colour with polished Webbing? Now that would look sick 👌🏻
Just bought one of these and was looking for a vid to help out with setup. looks like iv got a bit of homework to do first to get it operating at its peak. thanks for the insight as I may have been pretty pissed off with its performance otherwise. 🤙
@@rustyinspirations I’m only using on glass at the moment as that’s the reason I got it and it gives very fine detail, but doesn’t work very well with the unit. Hopefully your fix sorts it out.
@@rustyinspirations local Bunnings out of 1” tee bits so I will need to source elsewhere. Which brass barb bit did you use? I’m a bit confused what fits what. Thanks
Might have better luck with an automotive store, for the barb fitting. Do you have another social media platform I could message you on? So I can send pictures to better explain? 👍🏻😃
Hi Rusty throw away the trigger gun and buy one with no trigger heaps of ways to adjust them for better performance, most of my sandblasting is 100 to 150 mm away from item being blasted at about 65 PSI hope this helps
Hi, I love your mods video, I have watched many but good to see one on the same Cabinet I have just got on sale for $219, what I saved I have spent on the mods, one thing though could you please me the size of your cut down shelf grate inside, many thanks, cheers.
@@rustyinspirations thanks for that, getting there, Vac side done, metering valve done, air water trap and blower gun inside done, just the tray, glass and lights left, thanks again.
Is your adjusting valve a ball valve or gate valve ? And does the 25mm galv hex nipple fit through the bottom of the hopper without cutting or drilling and then 25mm back nut on each side?
@@bernardwood6070 I used a ball valve, however I'm sure a gate valve would work fine. By memory I drilled it out bigger with a step drill bit. And yes a nut on top and bottom 😃👍🏻
@@rustyinspirations no worries I got a 25mm to 20 mm to go through the hole in the bottom and two 20mm nuts, will try and put it through the bottom tomorrow as didn't want to drill it out. Wish you had the part number for the valve you used as I've been unable to find it at Bunnings and how you stepped it down into the 25mm T piece
Hey mate just wondering what size fitting from the hose to the 15mm reduced hex gathering it’s a barb fitting but can’t seem to find a female 15mm. Would that be the 1/4 fitting or the 1/2? Thanks in advance. Great video
Hey mate got all the same parts to do the pick uo underneath, how did u fit the tee peice to bottom of drain hole? Did you find a massive tap or grind it out and forced it the self thread? Thanks
G’day mate😃, I’m trying to remember what I done🤔, I believe I had some slim line nuts that I used to hold it in place. I could send you some pictures tomorrow if you like?
Actually if you could I'd appreciate it. Send them to mulisha_king@hotmail.com I think I might just weld it to the cabinet, as the two nuts will not thread all the way down that 25mm nipple have no idea why.
Mate where'd you get the valve for minor adjustments from ? and the plate for the other air outlet near the light switch? I'm in Adelaide as well picked one up for $199 today at SCA
Cheers for the very detailed review and mod suggestions. I'm picking mine up for my shed tonight and I'm pretty excited! Cheers.
You are very welcome 😃.
Thanks for this mate. Gonna modify mine. That list is fantastic!
No dramas mate, happy blasting 😃👍🏻
