    "Why is she so sad...?"
The song is about suicide. You don't always notice how much someone is hurting until you go back and realize the signs were there all along, but sometimes by then it's too late. "Everybody needs somebody. You're not the only one."
Very sorry about your sister's passing. Keep spreading the love. I join many others in wishing you all the best.

I was about 10 or 11 when this video came out and honestly thought she was struck by lightning at the reception, even though they didn’t show lightning, and that’s why there was the mirror in the coffin that showed only one side of her face and body. Like it thought the other half was burned. Then I never really thought about it again. But yes, suicide makes sense now. Funny how kids think.

It's not just about not noticing how much some one else is hurting - it's about knowing that your time with someone is not infinite. Nothing lasts forever - relationships, lives, loves - they all have an end date that you cannot know. It's important to show someone how much you care while you can.

One of the funniest thing that I rarely if ever see commented is how Slash walks out of the big, gorgeous cathedral and comes out the door of a little one-room country church in the middle of nowhere. It's a great transition.
Also, for those who may never have seen this before, a little context on the shooting: Those climbing, circling, swooping shots of Slash during his solo were incredibly tough and expensive to get. Drones weren't a thing then, so those are absolutely true helicopter shots. That's why his hair, the dust, everything is blowing so hard.
And as an added note for Jamel, the conductor that looks like Weird Al is the legendary Michael Kamen. While not the first to put an orchestra with a rock/metal band, he was absolutely the master at blending the two forms. From this, Aerosmith's "Dream On" and "Silent Lucidity" for Queensryche, to the entire S&M concert with Metallica, there is no one that did it better. Gone 17 years now, and still feeling the loss to this day.

@@David-sx7on I don't necessarily feel that it's a rhapsody. But, the mood and tonal switch reminds people of a rhapsody. The only one that people are familiar with is BR.
The classical form (even the poetic form) does this far more than once and is more distinct in each shift. A song like Layla would be closer to BR if it added another change and might be the better comparison.

The guitar Slash uses in this video is a 1958 dark (tobacco) burst Les Paul that was previously owned by Joe Perry of Aerosmith.
In the early 80's, Joe was getting divorced and was struggling with drug addiction. He left Aerosmith for a few years and sold his Les Paul to pay the bills.
Slash wound up with it in his collection by the time this video was made.
Joe asked Slash to sell it back to him several times, but he could not be swayed.
In 2000, Joe was celebrating his 50th birthday, jamming out with friends at a private party - a delivery guy brought Joe his old Les Paul with a birthday wish from Slash.
    That's a class act!!
A 1958-60 Les Paul can fetch well over $100K these days, even more if a famous one.
Slash probably spent less than 10K on it back then before the value skyrocketed.

The closer he got to her door the louder the volume grew. Then his world began to spin uncontrollably as a loud gunshot echoed through the hallway. He ran toward her apartment, lowered his shoulder, and with reckless abandon crashed through the wooden door.
