    13:47 - somehow I never saw it discussed in comments, despite there are many people into history and sagas under Vinland videos... But this moment isn't so impossible - due to great difference in steels at time. Some people still preserved smithing techniques of old and meticulously crafted high-quality weapons for nobility, while others cut corners or tried to reinvent process to supply for increasing demand of growing armies, once again becoming truly massive after period of small aristocratic warbands under divided barbarian kings. That's why stories from these years contain both examples of swords that bend after each strike, fixed with stepping on them - and simultaneously of rare "magical" blades cutting through everything. Askeladd with his background could have good, well-preserved Roman or noble barbaric blade on this hilt, which sometimes would literally cleave cheap helmets and chainmailes as shown. Now, whole body from skull down - that's different story)

      Not so much getting through the armor as getting through the skull and neck and chest and... There's a lot of elastic tissue to get through in all that. Physics comes into play regardless of how sharp or strong the steel wielded by a human. Now, a machine with more force and a string, thick blade... Sure.

    in S1 EP9, you can see that Askeladd is losing hair (specifically beard hair). It might be a symptom of a disease, or perhaps he's simply getting older. Thorfinn is always observing Askeladd, so he likely noticed it. In the manga, you can clearly see Askeladd balding

    Thorfin:give me asklad or I'll kill you
    Thorkill: well dont threaten me with a good time.
    These next few episodes are going to be legendary

    I've seen a lot of subs in different shows where a younger character calls an older dude "baldy" regardless of whether he's bald or not, so I assume it's just a common way in Japanese to say a guy is old and being extra disrespectful about it, which makes sense given Thorfinn's relationship to Askeladd.

      @TheGenreVerse let me guess, complains about it happening too suddenly? While also dismissing what the priest says about love? I like some of your guys reactions but yall come off condescending sometimes so I don't have high expectations

    • @TheGenreVerse
      @TheGenreVerse  15 дней назад

      I don't think we complain about anything happening too quickly. I don't think we complain at all. I do think some people take criticizing a character's ideology or actions as criticizing the work or writing, and that ain't it.
      I'm not sure what you feel we're dismissive of, but I'm fairly certain we discuss why we feel one way or the other.
      Hopefully you're not disappointed in us (potentially) disagreeing with your thoughts/feelings, and instead find things to discuss with us in the comments or on our discord.
      Thanks for watching!

    I love that y’all enjoy it but I vote we stop with the sub reactions, if not do some in dub. My “best of dubbed anime” playlist has great vids explaining why dub is better. Its description does the same thing, then it makes reactions easier cause reactors r always looking away from the screen missing dialogue.

    • @TheGenreVerse
      @TheGenreVerse  16 дней назад +1

      While there are many great dubs out there, we have to do most seasonal reactions in Japanese due to the common 3+ week delays in release. We choose to do our back catalogue reactions in subs because that seems to be preferred by most in our very diverse and international audience.
      We do the occasional dub reaction when people recommend a particular episode to try.
      Thanks for the feedback!

      I agree that there are good dubs but Vinland is superior in sub especially season 2

      tbh there are some better dub anime series but most of them are crap
      I've already watched vinland saga in both and I can say the eng dub doesn't compare to the original sub

      Love the opinions but I didn’t say Vinland saga specifically just meant anime in general. Since y’all know all 3 versions guide them by using that knowledge to suggest whichever titles that have amazing dubs like konosuba. They took an L not reacting to that 1
