Brilliant m8, most of we Scots have seen very little of our own country, it's tragic really when you see how amazing Scotland is, thanks to video's like this one 👍🏴🏴🏴
Great video guys, gonna to take ferry from ireland and drive around Scotland , can't wait to dip the face in the scottish waters and bungee 😀 thank you for informative video! 👍
Perfect time of year for it!Hope you enjoy 😊 plenty of guides that go into more detail in each of these road trips on our website if you want more help planning your trip
I just loved this video and cannot wait for travel to open up again. Hopefully I can get some video for my own channel that is even half as good as this. Subscribed.
I'm due to go on my NC500 trip in November. Loved your blog and seeing all the great places in scotland. We have been lucky to visit Scotland 4 times between lockdown in the last 2 years and I agree it is a gorgeous country I would love to move up there. Thanks for all the info some good suggestions 👍
Landed here as I was looking for ideas for our upcoming van trip in Scotland. Thank you so much for all the precious information! This video is incredibly detailed and inspirational. Great job!
Congrats on your videos. Very beautiful and informative. We hope to be in Scotland again next year. On former visits one of our favorite places was the hidden valley (Glencoe, the three sisters)
The parts of Scotland we have been to have been beautiful but these road trips look amazing! "Dramatic" was definitely the right word. We stayed around cruden bay area a couple of years ago and were surprised by just how beautiful the beaches were. The pass of the cattle looks absolutely jaw dropping! Although, pretty much everything you showed in this video does. Never heard of the Heart 200 before. That video was fantastic - beautiful shots and very informative.
Awesome video guys! We've never actually been to Skye together, we always knew it was a stunning place and it is definitely near the top of the list now after seeing this!
That Scottish Couple thanks for watching and commenting guys 😁 definitely need to take a trip to Skye, I would maybe suggest at the end of summer once the crowds have died down 😊
We love Scotland so much we moved here, but over the years we worked out that the West is gorgeous to visit, the East is great for living, so we live in Angus now (and loving it!). We recently discovered an awesome road trip around the Eastern Cairngorms. Starting in Brechin, but you can of course start anywhere along the route, it is a round trip :) Brechin, Edzell, Fettercairn, Cairn o'Mount (Stop here, beautiful views on a clear day!), B976 West, going south of Aboyne and Ballater (both are good stops), Easter Balmoral for coffee with the queen, A93 through Braemar (good stop as well) and then Glenshee, which is one of the most impressive valleys in Scotland in my opinion. Then come off at Cray (B951) and come through the gorgeous Glenisla, Kirriemuir for a stop and Peter Pan and then back to Brechin whichever way you prefer (although Forfar Castle Street is worth a stop as well, get a Bridie on Market Street if it is time to eat at this point.)
We've always wanted to visit Scotland! This video was very helpful and greatly increased our desire to visit. The landscape looks amazing and the water with the streams...amazing! These hikes looks epic! Lovely overview and thanks for sharing!
Stunningly beautiful place ,this our choice to visit once we get our motorhome in a few years we need to make our memories together as my beautiful wife is recovering from major cancer surgery. I will be honest I'm no t very good at tour planning and to help with costs we would like to wild camp but also stay on the odd campsite .we both In our late 50s and respect the countryside and local laws and people that's how we were bought up 😃 if there is any help and advice you can give us on possible wild camping in a motor home please do so as we want to stay safe. Many thanks 😃
Thanks for sharing. I do wonder if most of the roads are suitable for a camper. Some slopes and steep curves may be highly challenging or risky. Can you please share your view and experience on that. 😊
There are definitely a few roads that we wouldn't recommend driving on in a large vehicle but the majority of it is fine as long as you are comfortable with reversing on single track roads if you need to use a passing place 😁
Loved this video! It got me so excited for our “honeymoon” trip that we’re planning on taking to Scotland. We want to do a road trip of the highlands. What time of year would you recommend?
What I love about Scotland and doing road trips... you don't have to stick to a planned route. Every road takes you on an adventure even through Govan,Gorbals and Easter House🤣. Joking aside.. When your on the road its amazing scenery, the friendly locals and if you look up the area you are in, you could be surprised by whats happened there in the years gone by. Scotland: Land of the free! And when your on a road trip you definitely feel free. 🏴
Sorry to burst the bubble folks but I have to say this, after 13 years of traveling around the Highlands for work, this year I've seen burnt out cars at Drumochter Pass on the A9, flat earth graffiti on rockfaces in Laybys, general graffiti in places like Rannoch Moor and Applecross. I've seen campervan owners dumping chemical toilets on peatland by the road to John 'O Groats. The Tongue to Thurso road, part of the so called "NC 500" is being damaged by "sportscar racers" and increased traffic. Scotland, I'm afraid, is being trashed by increasing numbers of people. Nice video though, enjoy Scotland while you still can. Drive safe, respect the countryside, learn to use passing places, and take your rubbish to a proper bin. As for chemical toilets, don't dump them anywhere except in a proper disposal unit.
So so sad to hear that you have witnessed this. We have heard a lot of stories of people disrespecting the environment and the locals and we hope that we can educate on responsible ways to camp and travel through our videos.
Just thinking of going again . Done the west coast and across the top end to John o groats a few times back in 00s . Ive heared its been bad this year with wild campers leaving rubbish and other things dont know if anyone else as heard that
Such a beautiful part of the world! We have heard its been very busy this year, which of course results in an increase in the tiny percentage of visitors being disrespectful and leaving rubbish. All we can do is keep promoting safe and responsible travel and hope it gets better 😁
What time of year have you guys traveled in this part of Scotland? My husband and I are planning a trip late November/early December this year (it's unfortunately the only time he has off from work). So we know weather could be crummy. Do we need to worry about a lot of snow?
The weather is going to be up and down but if you wrap up warm and bring waterproofs you will be fine 🥰 just be prepared for snow and have an emergency kit in your vehicle in case you get stuck, and also keep an eye on the weather forecast 😁
Love this video. One disagreement...Scotland is not big. It is half the size of New England. That said it is huge in beauty and mystery. Of all the places in the world that I have been ( I'm 68 and have seen most of it ) Scotland is the one Country I go back to time and time again. Have been visiting since the 70's. Feels a second home and your video, in this time of limited travel is so welcomed. Thank You
Haha its big for us then I guess, but obviously nothing compared to the USA. Im glad that we could show you some of the beauty here over the internet! Thank you for watching!

New fan and new follower. I hope to visit these magnificent places some day. As an American, I’m a little (alright, a lot) intimated by driving in Scotland. When driving and you see a beautiful view, is it legal to pull to the side of the roadway and take pictures?
We hope you get to visit one day soon, always welcome in Bonnie Scotland ❤️Within reason, as long as you are not blocking the road and you suddenly slowing down to pull in isnt going to create a hazard then it should be fine. There are usually parking areas at the viewpoints to allow people to pull in and admire the view from to prevent dangers. Thanks for watching!
Hi guys. Just wondering when you think the best time to do the NC500 next year would be ? There will be three middle aged couples in our group and we are considering flying up from Sussex and then hiring a minibus ? I am of course about to buy your book 👍
Hey Darren! We were up in May/June this year and we were really lucky with the weather! The earlier you go the less likely there will be midges too and it should be quieter! That sounds like it will be a great trip though 😁
Thanks for your reply. I’ve been beaten up by midges in the past 😬 so your advice on the best time to try and avoid them is appreciated. Loving your videos 👍. All the best, Darren
We would recommend travelling Scotland in spring or summer as the days are longer and the weather should be a bit better. Also more things will be open to visit during those months 😊
Autumn is a beautiful time to visit Scotland. September/ October. Beautiful colours and the heather is purple at this time. summer brings the Midgies on the west coast which are very annoying as guy can get bitten to death.
We`re planning a two week tour of Scotland in September . My only concern is do i need to book sites or is there plenty of space`s as we don`t want too be tied to a timetable .. Loved the video ....

Don't give all the secrets away! Place is overwhelmed as it is, but tourism& many areas are been damaged by it. Litter, non real wild camping ,camper vans down single track roads etc! :'(.
