I think it's incredibly mature of you to have such perspectives at 21. You're right that there's a lot of societal pressure about what your 20s should be.
I'm 25 but I'm still trying to finish my under grad and I have family members constantly asking me why I'm still in school and honestly it's tiring to deal with. I've been single forever and my family members also always ask if I have a girlfriend, to which I always make them disappointed with a no.
It's taken me a long time to come to terms with what led me to who I am today, and for you to already be thinking like that, I think you're on the right track. It's important to love and be comfortable with yourself before tackling any sort of dating I think. I know I am perfectly content doing whatever I want on my own, but there is always a thought in my head that it would be nice to have someone special to share it with. I'm sure you'll find someone some day, I think you're mature emotionally and attractive. You're only 21, so you have so much time left.
Lastly, I want to applaud you for even making a video about this in the first place. It's a personal topic that I think a lot of people wouldn't want to talk about, and you just went ahead and shared your experience with us. I usually don't comment on any videos I watch, but this did resonate with me and I'm sure many people as well. And I wanted to show support for someone willing to share a vulnerable side of themselves for the sake of sending a positive message.
And yes we read video descriptions.

I love seeing vids like these and hearing the music; its so romantic. Then the insight at the end of the vid after your master chef snippet was just the cherry on top. I've always thought I've been good at being by myself and just taking myself out on dates, but I've found it hard to do lately with changing environment. But after watching this, it makes me want to take myself out now. Thanks!

There are many things I liked about this video! The fun fact about the ELO in dating apps, this part about finding someone who makes you love more what you already love, and the background music... also the love yourself message is very nice, I liked this video!

Thanks for this video, i really needed to hear it! I’m going on a solo trip this summer, and learning to be comfortable by myself is something I’m still working on. It’s hard when all your friends are dating and you’re the only one who’s single, but loving yourself first is important. Then one day, like you said, you will find your other half unexpectedly.

Thanks so much for sharing this video! As a rising senior in high school, I completely relate to the fears about missing out and not living a "normal" life, and it's especially hard when you don't realize others share your fears in a more "professional" and less personal landscape, when people hide their true selves.

I think it's great that you find yourself good company. I see a lot of my friends and acquaintances seeking partners to make their lives interesting, but I think that we should just focus on the things that we love to do for ourselves. The right person will come along sooner or later.

seeing this video reminds me of my own life except i'm probably a lot older. i've gone on vacations on myself and to movies and bars alone. yes you're right about the apps since they are useless. whenever i thought i had a match on any of them it was always a bot if anyone that all i was matched with. when it comes to meeting women in public i was a magnet for women that needed dr. phil on speed dial. most of the people i know if they are still on earth are either married or doing something that keeps them busy in their life. hookups seem to be more important to half the people over getting to know someone first and seeing if you really connect. just have to say you're not alone with how you feel and i hope you do meet someone that will end up being your other half. i definitely will send this video for my social media single female friends that are in the same situation.

Hey coco, thanks for this video truly. I've had a really rough week. This video really reminded me of how at peace i was at being "alone". Lately I've been so swept away by the constant pressure of being "seen doing cool stuff with friends" or of my friends getting married, attached and literally pitying myself for being single. Thank you for snapping me out of this constant loop of societal pressure. Being confident "alone", i think that's a beautiful self that i want to find again.

  • @anthonymejia6703
    @anthonymejia6703 2 года назад

Firstly thanks for your video. I RARELY comment on videos or things due to my own anxieties. However, my overall mood from your day was hopeful and happy. What is impressive is how calm you are when talking about your personal life because personally, I wouldn’t be able to do that. This is also refreshing for me because I tend to think being alone is a sad thing but being able to go your own direction is adventurous in itself and that is exciting. I'm sure it might not matter to some people but I think your doing a great job on you're videos, keep up the good work.
P.S. I'm probably that guy that wears the ‘ugliest’ t-shirt ever on a date because I don’t think about what I wear and I thought the sub of “you had one job” was funny.

Hey Coco! Thanks for opening up on your perspective on dating and how being single isn't all that bad. Past couple of months I've been really wanting to have a relationship, and envy those around and close to me who have found their partners and enjoying life with one another. I really feel like I'm ready for one because I've been through so many emotions already, and now I am confident enough to get into one. However, all this wanting of a girl made me hate myself for being single sometimes, and always blamed myself how I'm not even trying. Thanks to you and this video, you reminded me how it is also important to maintain a strong level of love, confidence, and fun with yourself no matter what, even during a relationship. With all this time being single, it definitely helped me find my way onto becoming a better self. I've been working out a lot more, and planning to start meditating soon to keep my stress levels in place from school, financials, and many other life things. Thanks again Coco, and keep doing what you're doing! You'll become famous one day, I'm sure!! :))

The video started on a pretty good note with the whole self glam up and exposing dating apps for what they truly are 😤 ... but gawdamn halfway through the video the mood (maybe it was because of the choice of bgm) really shifted and it felt really depressing 😭 especially when she mentions the (limited) human interaction at 13:20 followed by the rest of the dinner for one...I know this video is about being okay with these stigmas but man...it's hard to not feel some sadness. I mean everyone has been/will be like this at some point in their lives so it's relatable. FUCK. 😑
Coco you're still young, very hardworking and ambitious, so it's still best to put most of your focus on yourself for now. Someone who can appreciate you fully will come eventually so don't treat yourself unfairly for not having that person in your life right now. (ANd also wanted to let you know that I do read your video descriptions 😉 Would be keen to see a video about you growing up in New Zealand as it was mentioned a couple of times in this video, or something like a 100 facts about Coco)

Hi Coco! thank you for the video. The one thing I really have trouble with is truly loving myself, just because of the fact that I do feel the pressure of finding someone and seeing so many people get cuffed or having a lot of fun. But with this video it really showed me that I really don't need those things to have fun at all and I find it awesome that you could do that byurself. Keep up the content really loving it!

I've been single for the past 6 years now because I haven't really cared for chasing relationships. I ALWAYS go to eat out by myself, specifically to this one restaurant so much to the point where the waiters were commenting on it lol. But that's just what I like, not having to worry about being entertaining or coming up with clever things to talk about, I can just sit there in silence and chill while I eat by myself.

Hey Coco, I think this pressure you talked about will always be around when you are single, we just need to accept it, but the good thing is that you are already in peace with yourself 😁 which sometimes people take a while to reach this point (and I talk with my own experience) Continue to live the present moment and doing what is meaningful to you! (don't rush things just because others are pressuring)

The first time I happened to watch a video with Coco in it is from Joma channel (the 24 hours no phone thing) and here I am at her channel. It seems to me that Coco has a nice, mature personality and actually she looks pretty & feminine with that make up.
Just a short opinion, hope you don’t mine Coco. I agree with Coco’s points that there is of course a need to be alone, being reflective (I am doing it too), being comfortable and listen to your own self and indeed it is much better than associating oneself with bad people as there is quote: ‘Bad company corrupts good morals’. While I understand that life can be tough and full of pressures sometimes, thus a desire to let go of everything, I find a little bit of pressure is actually good as it helps to propel us forwards to do better & remain thoughtful, which one would not get by having just-do-what-you-love-and-f**-everything kind of mindset, as long as it is coming from interaction with people who are mature and wise. As such, having a circle of friends who are of outstanding characters and of high moral standard is also recommended on top of self-time.
I also do think that there is wisdom in being particular and being careful in choosing life partner. Such wisdom has been passed down since ancient times. However, one needs to ensure not to fall into guilty trap of having constraining oneself too much which in the end may eventually result in reckless, unfortunate decision. When the right time comes, people will meet the right person and avoid regret as long as they stay true to the principle.
Stay healthy, stay nice, and always being grateful in life
    Greetings from Asia,
P.S. not all men put on the ugliest shirt on date and being so careless / indifferent about it haha just sayin’ 😊 Cheers,

Your videos are actually very thoughtful, moreso than most RUclips vloggers without it feeling forced.
Also side note, you should look up what the real meaning of the biebs love yourself song is about lol

For some people money does not buy happiness and for most mony buys happiness ,but lack of mony certainly buys you misery , a fellow creator

As someone in college but with a near future in NYC, it's really comforting to see your perspective and self-care and dating and the pedestal that it doesn't deserve. I'm anxious about the move / transition, and just as an introvert in NYC... can't wait to take myself out in NYC :D
Edit: also me: oh lawd I'm a gamer and that'll be the death of my social career
