    I did my training yesterday. I had difficulty with the clutch. My instructor said i was unique in how bad i was. I think he was just making fun of me. Once he left me alone I started and stopped about 300 times to get the hang of it. Had 4 hours of practicing it as well as counter steering and cornering and had no problems.

    This is the hardest part of learning to ride a bike. The clutch. It's different for almost every bike. So you gotta get a feel for the clutch setup of your bike. It's even harder on a hill.

    • @jessica5378
      @jessica5378 Год назад +1

      Agreed!! Starting to get it down but it’s definitely challenging ESPECIALLY on an incline

    • @AlexAugustinex
      @AlexAugustinex Год назад +4

      @@jessica5378 I remember waking up at 5 and going to a remote location to practice. I would intentionally go to an incline and start from the bottom go 3 meters, stop and try to get the clutch bite again and again till I reach the top. Just focus on getting the muscle memory down on were the clutch bite point is. if it's a hill just give a bit more gas that's all to it. After two weeks you'll start doing it naturally without even thinking about it. Good luck

    Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is absolutely one of the best videos I have ever seen on Clutch and Throttle control. I kept stalling and I couldn't figure out why. I did not understand that I needed to apply the throttle closer to the END of the friction zone and that I had to release my clutch much slower than I was doing. I realized it when you said, "While it's still letting go slowly. While I am letting go, and I let go." I would have let go at "while it's still letting go slowly," and it would stall, since I applied throttle at the beginning of the friction zone. I noticed you don't have many motorcycle instructional videos. Your voice is great and your instructions are very detailed. You should consider doing more beginner motorcycle videos. Thank you again.

    Great video man. Thanks. I’m learning the friction zone of my bike. I can get the friction zone no problem just the throttle part still trying to get use to. When I’m in intersection, especially when I’m the first position I always get nervous and mess up the combination. So I either stall or pull the throttle too much that it jump out. Good thing I don’t go fast so haven’t fallen yet. LoL. I always feel pressured when there are cars behind me cause I feel I start to move too slow.

    • @jovannie
      @jovannie  5 лет назад +1

      Yeah the most nerve racking times cohe me were when cars were behind me. You can try a small street where there won't be too many cars.
      And just think about how in 2 or 3 weeks you'll probably have it down by then if you keep practicing. That confidence used to relax me a little bit

    I'm tanking my license in Europe and I've just had my worst lessons, stalled going up a cliff with a bus and 3 cars behind me, the motorcycle i was using is very old and the gearbox got stuck between first and neutral, couldn't go anywhere until i put it in second and first again. After that, i was seriously nervous as it's been like 2 minutes of me trying to start the bike. So I stalled again, almost dropping it in the process. This video helped me knowing I'm not the only one, and for anyone reading this, try to beat my fuck up xD

      Damm bro just yesterday I was driving it. I was doing perfectly fine till I got to a stop sign, kept stalling out lmao. Took me like 6 tries just to not stall and when I start going a little I tried to take a right turn and I turned too wide that I got too close to the edge and went into the grass and stalled my bike again, dropped it, messed up my right mirror and then struggled picking it up because it's heavy ashit (cruiser bike). Then I was doing fine again becuase I didn't have to stop anywhere so about a good 5 minutes I stopped again because I needed to tighten my mirror back but wouldn't tightn so when I try to go again I stalled about 3 times. Then maybe 20 minutes later after I got my inspection on my bike I was driving it back to my brother's house and I was doing good. First stopped sign I didn't stall but the second stop sign I stalled 3 times while there was a truck behind my mom's car waiting (my mom was following me). Then when I finally went there was another stop sign and that was the worst one. Cars kept coming becuase it was a bit of a busy street I was getting on to turn on my street. When I try to go I kept stalling out everytime I tried to go. Then more Cars were coming behind me and they had to go around. Cars kept driving down the street that I would have to wait for an opportunity to go but each time I had it I stall out. Then a funeral started coming down the street and whole bunch of cars are just lined up behind eachother. My ignition started going really high everytime I go into first gear to drive and I was getting really frustrated. I was in that same spot for a little over 10 minutes till I was finally able to take off so I decided f it I'm driving to my house since it's down the street instead of my brother's.

    Fantastic video. Very well explained. I have had a hard time finding a good video explaining this very concept. Just purchased an Iron 883 and was having these problems. Kept stalling at first. I love the quote "the clutch is everything" I already feel so much more confident and I havn't even hoped on the bike yet. Thank you!
    It is interesting how bikes are different. I practiced on a Harley street 500 and I was able to let the clutch out faster and the bike would go but it would be jerky. I could not do that with the 883. I thought that once you got into the friction zone and applied gas, you were good to go. I believe I have been letting the clutch out immediately after finding the friction zone.
    Its nice to see I am not the only one who experienced difficulty in this department. Thanks again for posting this video. This information will save lives!

    I learned very quickly that, you can move the bike and roll down the street and even u-turns, simply by engaging that friction zone, and letting the bike coast. I learned that FIRST.. Then, I learned to let that happen first, before I would even twist the throttle. In my opinion, one of the easiest ways to learn how to ride a motorcycle.

  • @raphaelandrews3617
    @raphaelandrews3617 3 года назад

    You need to check you bike and adjust the clutch lever to a point that is ok to suit you. Once you do you can pull away in 1st / 2nd and 3rd. This is easy if have rev counter as you can see the revs that set up to pull off( about 3 rpm and over) this is called the biting point.

    So, whenever the bike is turned ON (after it was OFF), the bike automatically wakes up in neutral? Unlike a car, which wakes in gear or neutral, depending on where the gear shifter is engaged at the moment when the car is started?
    After that, it's just like driving an manual 6 speed car. 1st all the way down, N half up, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 full up and the same gear pattern, in reverse, back down?
    The gas, break and clutch work just they do in a stick shift? The gas and clutch must be worked in unison to keep the bike from stalling and/or jerking forward and stopping?

    • @xianxiii3029
      @xianxiii3029 5 лет назад +2

      The Neutral position is NOT automatic on any motorcycle. When the Engine is off from stalling or switching it off, he half presses the gear lever up from 1st to put bike in neutral, before he presses the ignition. This is a good habbit to have as puts less strain on engine (apparently) but you can start the bike up while in 1st gear as long as the clutch is disengaged (held in) just like a manual car.
