I have sampled Vanagloria and own Babycat, which I now regard as my signature scent [my first since Lagerfeld discontinued K.L. in the early 90s]. Sadly, it is vastly over-priced and difficult to find. To my nose Vanagloria is far too smokey/incense-y. Since quitting smoking twenty years ago, I can't stand the smell of smoke. Vanagloria came across as tending towards the smell of a stale, dirty ashtray. I didn't care for it at all, which was highly disappointing, given that it costs about half the price THOSE BANDITS AT L'ORREAL want for Babycat. Babycat I would describe as imparting an air of sophistication and mystery. The combination of dry smokey vanilla and suede is absolutely intoxicating. Were a man to own bottles of Babycat and Tuxedo, I can't imagine him ever needing anything else.
@@greglongphee2034 Ahahahhahah, bandits... But you're right. The price is really too much. I agree that Vanagloria is a more challenging fragrance and it's not as polished and smooth as Babycat. While you get an ashtray scent in Vanagloria, on my skin there is this sharp metallic note that bothers me a bit and that is a reason why I prefer Babycat as well. Of course, some may prefer Vanagloria because perfumes are always very personal and subjective. Thank you for sharing your experience. It was fun reading it. 👍
@@Miri-s You're welcome. I did run across a Babycat dupe - RIFAAQAT by Paris Corner, which is a near perfect clone at a fraction the price of Babycat. An 80ml. bottle of RIFAAQAT can be had for around $40. While not as elegant as Babycat, it's surprisingly close. Unfortunately, performance is only so-so.
I prefer the drydown of Vanagloria by far. The mids are where these two smell the most alike to my nose. Vanagloria does have a more challenging opening, and I do sense the pineapple. I think I might prefer it to Babycat overall. It definitely smells more niche than Babycat. They are both lovely, no question.
Wow, I love your reviews on these fragrances! I am considering one of these, price point is a must since Vanagloria is much cheaper than Babycat. Thanks for such a great review.

But that’s okay…. have so many fragrances that I love already 😊 The only fragrance that I have an interest in at the moment is Donna Born in Roma Green Stravaganza!😂. I’ll definitely wait for a sale. What I can remember from your comments, you have an incredible perfume collection and some of the most gorgeous perfumes I can think of in your arsenal.😉🙃 It's not necessary to have every perfume out there, but the ones you truly love and enjoy. 🥰
I have both--just got my Babycat a week ago, which was a miracle in itself. I disagree on the pineapple note in Vanagloria...it's definitely present and why it's MUCH sweeter than Babycat. I'm not getting ANYTHING you are describing in either fragrance...but all noses are different. I LOVE both. They are only about 50% similar...which is why I think both belong in my collection.
