What would you suggest as an ideal Telescope setup for under $1000? 🤔💭
I've got a brand new 10-part series coming out at the end of next month. I'm hoping to release the trailer for it in a couple of weeks! I'm looking forward to sharing it with you all and to get back to live streaming fairly soon! All the best and clear skies ✨✨
10 inch Dobsonian
Celestron 8 inch Star sense Dobsonian
It will be cool if you made a video finding black holes on the sky.
@@Muze123 I think he already has but I kinda forgot
Well if your just starting off I would say try out the National Geographic 114mm telescope it’s what I got and it’s really nice for what you get
Got the Seestar on the back of your recommendation. Haven’t been disappointed.
Happy to hear it! 😁👍
Before considering any other options, buy a pair of binoculars. It's a crucial first step.
this channel feels so cozy and comforting
HERE BEFORE 100 000!!!
Me too🎉
$100,000 or 100,000 subscribers? Because i'm pretty sure he uploaded this video at around 150k subscribers

Im starting to get into this hobby and stumbled upon this channel. This guy BY FAR speaks in lamens enough for a beginner like me to understand and move forward into the hobby, Thanks so much
im always waiting for an upload from you, your videos are the best!
Thank you 😁 😁
I think I'd better go for the seestar because I'm very new to astrophotography, your videos help a lot, keep it up.👍👍
Good video. Thanks. Those are great choices. My Bortle 4 backyard (Bortle 2 is just 30 minutes down the road) loves the 10" Dob. I see a lot of people using the Seestar but spending lots of time post processing which makes me scratch my head. "Why get a simplified rig just to complicate it?" This hobby has many facets and ways to enjoy the night sky.
another great vid, can't wait for more! always cool to see such great photos!
Awesome vid! I checked the description for a link to the 8-24 eyepiece, but didn’t see one. Did I miss it?
Same here
Another good video from Damon!
Cheers mate 😁👍🏻
"now if this doesn't tickle your pickle."
freaky damon scotting confirmed⁉️😭
Just what I needed before going on vacation.. who knows maybe I will come back from Malta with a big 🔭.. oh 👍
just what the astronomy doctor ordered cheers Damon.✨🌟🌠🌌
"Inglorious Buggers" was one of my favorite movies.
Wonderful work damon ❤
Awesome, thank you. That's very kind of you! 😁👍🏻
THANK YOU for putting the monry on rupees too
Funny thing I went out last night to and sall the andromeda galaxy also p.s I love your vids Damion keep up the good work love you man and can’t wait to see your trailer
If you arent interested in taking photographs i would suggest getting a nice fat 12" dob. You could surely get one for under $1000 on used markets. Get a nice eyepiece (like the zoom one Damon showed) and a telrad for finding objects effortlessly.
thanks bud for adding price in inr too
Was waiting for this one!!❤
Thank you!
Still amazes me that you've got such a bright sky considering how close you are to an ubran area. I'm out in the sticks of Devon and I swear sometimes you've got brighter skies than me. I've only got my phone and a pair of 10x50 Upclose G2 binoculars to work with.
I suspect the camera is sometimes making it all look a bit brighter than it actually is if that helps? 😅
@@DamonScotting yeah I guess. Still amazing. I remember living on the edge of Lincoln and seeing absolute bugger all
Tried to purchase a Celestron C10-NGT but it is out of stock everywhere, any ideas?
Checked eBay?
Damon, thank you so much😊❤😊
Nice one mate
I have a question is AF-S Nikkor 70-300mm VR good for astrophotography?
I’ve used this lense and got some pretty good photos of the Orion Nebula with a D3500 on an untracked tripod. But don’t expect too much past that without many, many exposures and stacking
@@teaboy8362 I use mine on a D5000
I really wished that u realise this video a month ago so I could get the first setup . I bought a 10in dob without a tracker . I wish I could get the eq for or goto system in the second hand market 😢.
Hiiiiii Damon :)
You should travel somewhere below to image the tarantula nebula
insane videos man 😊
Thanks man 😁
Lol i was about to complain where is "I am damon scotting and this is astronomical"
Can you PLEASE review the Orion 134MM Equalizer Reflector Scope?😢
I bought an 6SE off ebay in excellent condition/workability. I did endless amounts of research prior, once i purchased it i dove even deeper. I then found out it MAY not have the Go-to feature... I already accepted the amount of work/"studying" i would need to do to calibrate it to my location... The go to feature was my main buying point. It's already shipped and i may sound crazy but i dont even want to know if that's the case until it shows up. Is the computer in the remote itself? Surely i can buy a new remote maybe some adapters and have the go to feature just like that? Personally i wanted a manual with all the money in the mirrors itself but family was real interested in tracking features/ go to so i was swayed in that direction. Sorry for the wall of text :D
Solely for the convenience, getting a goto for you and your family to use was likely the better option! I think you've made the right choice, I'm sure you will have plenty of fun with the 6SE 😁✨️
@@DamonScotting Thank you thank you. I can't wait regardless!!
I think a used manual 12 inch dobsonian or a new 10 inch dobsonian would be best because a beginner needs to learn how to find objects and learn patience of finding objects otherwise if a computer is doing it for them they won’t have any patience and they won’t know anything.
Hello
didn't get notification :)
and I hvae them turned on
😮💨😮💨 It is what it is, I guess 🥲. I appreciate you still making the effort to watch my videos, mate 😁👍🏻
Do you have any advice on visual astronomy? I want to get a 6 inch dob, and want to know what I can see and what accessories I need.
Invest in a nice set of eyepieces and there's nothing that you won't see 😁👍🏻
10"? Too heavy. I bought a 6" SCT and Hyperstar 6 v4.
Damon.. what do you do when you're outside and your telescope you take it back inside and it gets condensation on it when how do you stop it from getting inside the telescope on mirrors etc even with the lens cap on I have found I'm still getting condensation on every single thing coming in from the outside air? I meant to ask you that question on patreon.
I leave the window for the room I'm bringing the telescope back into open whilst I'm observing. That way, when I bring it back in, this temperature difference is a great deal smaller. Even then this isn't massively effective. Otherwise, I can't really recommend any helpful tips on preventing it. Just an unfortunate result of the climate we have 😅👍🏻
Funly enough im gonna go pickup my £1000 telescope + mount now!
Best of luck and clear skies 😁🤞🏼✨️
@@DamonScotting Appreciate it, i got a William optics ZenithStar 73 + EQ6 Pro
Watched from desk to desk
As an amateur astronomer Hyundai emphasise on the word amateur.. you definitely need a star tracker.. I did get a good shot of the International space station that I was very impressed with as it went across the sky.. okay it look like someone to do a pencil line across it but it was still the International space station and I was impressed..😂 👍 I'm so easily pleased 😄
. I'm always worried when buying used telescopes in case the mirrors are out of alignment or something gets broken on delivery it's why I tend to buy my telescopes brand new and from shop like Currys PC world... At least then I can send them back immediately.. put Amazon definitely has some good second-hand deals but I never know what I need.. I don't have a car I have a motorbike so it's very difficult in carrying what I need.. it doesn't stop me though..
I've always found amazon's return policy to be very good, even if their warehouse products are a bit hit and miss! It's a shame that the power and portability of telescopes tend to be mutually exclusive qualities. Would love it if the mirrors could be at least 90% lighter 🤞🏼 😅
good video really like your content and a question i have a skywatcher N150/750 pds and i wanted to ask which eyepiece i should buy for planets they are eyepiece they recommend like the omegon planetary 12-3mm 1,25 and i dont really know what that means i want to see jupiter and saturn really really close and i want a camera for a budget of 1000€ what camera it maybe should be a astrophotography camera because i only have a phone right now and it doenst really help
Get yourself a comfortable eyepiece that you don't have to squint when looking through and then purchase a Barlow lens. You can go all the way up to 5x, which will give you the highest magnification, but will be hardest to keep the planet centered in your field of view. As for the camera, I'm very fond of my Player one Uranus camera. Cost about $350. Extremely capable for deep sky and planetary imaging. All the best 😁✨️
@@DamonScotting and does it work with an astro computer like this zwo mini astrocomputer or not if not could you tell me a good camera from zwo that is good for nebulas galaxys and more
yay! XD
Pair your equipment with a night vision camera and mores stars. Its time to hack the sky.
its been long since you did video
First 😝😝
And?
