Mr Macffaden. You are so lovely 😊! Thank you 🙏. You inspire me to start making some jewelry work. I go to my GIA Diamond grading diploma. Thinking of buying some unset jewelry and get the diamond, you made it look very smooth.
The problem I have some time is I will get one of the seats cut too high or too low. I try to adjust it and I end up screwed up the setting. Great video Joel! I always enjoy your videos and your comments as you make the Jewelry. Thanks
hello, this is Cheick. I'd like to know how do we evaluate a picture of a diamond ring to be able give an estimate to the customer of how many grams of material is used, how many diamonds ( carat weight, clarity, color ) is in it?
@@JMDjewelry Hi this's Cheick, I need some help there's one thing I have a hard time with, is to give a fair price to my jewelry production. When customer ask me for a quote for custom piece ( for example a ring or bracelet, made especially for them ), I always have trouble setting a right price. If you could tell us what are the guidelines you follow to get a fair pricing, I hope you could help me. Thank you for your videos and your kindness, you do an outstanding job teaching us jewellery making.
@@alphasow1 I think you should order my friend's book. Its the standard in the US. It shoes wholesale labor as well as retail pricing. www.jewelerprofit.com/Blue_Book.html
Hi Joel, I’m not a fulltime stonesetter let says maybe twice a week and I’m considering to purchase a microscope to improve my work, is it worth to buy a microscope and whats your view about the cheaper ones like Amscope?
absolutly worth it. I would hold out for a Meji or a leica A60 www.engraver.com/leica-a60-special/ I feel that with the current situation there will be a lot of those available on the used market. I know several larger stores will be closing. www.jewelerprofit.com/JewelersTools.html facebook.com/groups/248999302211414/
Joel McFadden Thx Joel, I will save some money for the Leica a60, it is bulky though in comparison with the Meiji but I read a lot of good stuff about the Leica being more bright etc.
Joel McFadden Are you working with a 0.63x or 0.5x lens for stone setting (with or without adapter)? I’m curious about your work configuration for stone setting. I dont want to order extra obj lenses so I have to be sure about the work distance, I did a little test at my bench and 150mm seems a bit cramped.
Thank you. Finally so.eone with the patience to teach 🙌
Going to try this on a set of earrings to save a grand wish me luck

Thank you very much for your videos ; I suppose with very small stones is more difficult to do that . . .?
Yes, I'm making a class on all of this stuff. Beginnginning setting, but no you can't do small stones this way

The only way I know is to take a pic of the ring. You will have to know the rings size. Then have a cad guy create a volume estimate.
@@JMDjewelry thank you for your help, help a lot
