I think the best flavour would be bmw f 850 GS. It's got the punch and ability I feel. My eye is on that one until and unless Honda brings back the new cb500x.

It's was great to see a triple black GS on any review. I ridden mine around 15k kms now and enjoy it more. I am 6 ft 2 and it fits me . I really did not want the gsa. I ride mountain twisities and off road on the same day the bike shines.
The only downside is I had to get bigger off road pegs and a lower crash bar extra.
Just completed a 4k road trip and all I used was a top box .
BTW mine does sport battle scares from my off road mis adventures very proudly
Why does these bikes need dealer service?. I do my own maintenance. Should I change it for some reason.

I think whatever the GS can do the GSA can do too. Handling the weight will be the only skill that will be required.

    On way back from Pawna
    I stopped at bmw Kalina
Took a small 3 to 5 kms ride before they shut shop around 6pm
( I didn't wanna delay the sales man who was keen to get home on time )
And I was extremely surprised at my reaction
I did NOT like the 1250 gs
It was too heavy in slow traffic
But I did fall in love with the brakes.
    I am almost 85 kgs at 177cms
And I don't think I lack upper body strength.
I currently ride a h350h which was purchased only to help me get started riding once again after 2 decades at age 45

To be fair, these machines are overkill. More status symbol than actual usability. Just way too heavy to truly "adventure". 99% riders across the world use it primarily on the highway which frankly is not an "adventure" imo. And if one is really adventuring and if no one around to help lifting the bike in case of a fall is crazy tiring. But if you have the money to spare...
