To most non opera listeners, Nessus Dorma is probably the one song they most associate with the great man, but for me this is my favourite. It shows not only his awesome power but also the tenderness that only great singers can convey.

Is today anyone who is able to do the same? He operates his voice like piano virtuoso, at the level unreachable for others. I remember, that he was not able to do this at the very beginning of his career (he was in my country at this time). But year after year he was finding something like "idea" of the best interpretation of several opera arias. How that illumination can be found? And where? This mystery has gone with Him.
I can't understand a word he is singing -- and yet, I understand every word he is singing. Bob almighty this is amazing.

"The kind of voice that appears only once in a hundred years!", well, maybe longer as far as I know and seen, considering the Maestro was born on 1935. Thank you Luciano Pavarotti for this perfect rendition in your perfect voice! (God! this pianissimo acute notes at the end, who else has sung like that, forgetting the rest of his amazing vocal abilities?!!).
Absolutely beautiful from the opening phrase to the end. Pavarotti was a great tenor, but we may have taken him for granted while he was alive. R.I.P.

It saddens me a little to think that many people nowadays look down at opera as too "old fashioned" or think of it as music only "snobby" people listen to.
I may be considered the least snobby person, especially to those who know me. I don't care where a purse, shoe, article of clothing or piece of technology come from and what brand name it is. It's functionality and ability for endurance matters more than it's name or price tag to me.
But music like this demands to be appreciated. His voice truly is superb. To think there are in fact many who wouldn't give it the time of day is just absurd.
Opera is great, especially Puccini.

Thank you very much for appreciating Opera. I am Italian and I could sing as a tenor in an amateur Opera choir. Anyway the song "Rondine al nido"sang by Pavarotti is not an aria from an Opera but a classical italian song.

Such a sad and beautiful song and Pavarotti's rendering of it, never fails to move me to tears.
Felt like the tempo was a little rushed so I changed the speed to 75%. Really gorgeous even with the tiny bit of distortion. Pavarotti doesn't need a mike though. They should have moved those back about 20 feet or so.
