Beanie Sigel vs Jadakiss - Roc-A-Fella and Ruff Ryders | Rap Beef Series

- Besides beefing with Nas in 2001, Jay-Z was also beefing with Jadakiss and the Lox. Beanie Sigel and his group State Property newly signed to Roc-A-Fella Records stepped up to bat to take on the Lox for Jay. After several subliminal shots going back and forth amongst groups, two of the east coast's biggest new comers in rap went at it heavily. Beanie Sigel from Roc-A-Fella and Jadakiss from Ruff Ryders.

What was your favorite diss from this beef? Mine is probably the freestyle by the Lox over Jigga That Nigga.
If you like this video make sure to check out some of the beefs I've covered here in this playlist.

Jay never signed Nas. It was a partnership organized by la Reid. Nas and def jam has a 50/50 venture
Lox won Especially after that lox white label freestyle
That beanie on put your hands up beat is one of the greatest diss songs ever! I kick the nigga ball over the fence to let him know who yard this is 😆 🤣
That power house was the best of both
I’m a Dblock fan but I always thought Beans got jada with that hands up diss, but what Styles P was saying during that time was what really got my attention. Styles P is in my top 5.
One of the most underrated beefs ever... This beef NEVER gets as much love as it deserves.
“Jay-Z had me do it to cover for him, cause he knows Kiss woulda bit dat ass.”
~Beanie Siegel~
This was in my top 5 best battles of all time.
One of the hardest beefs in HH history!!!!! There were no clear cut winners in this one, but the back and forth gunshots were legendary!!! Bars galore from both MCs...

Young chris was all over the put cha hands up freestyle
Exactly.
Whole team in the studio helping out with the bars.
Kiss only had the trees
You must not have heard the freestyle that Young Chris to the LOX.
Respectfully it wasn't Roc vs Ruff Ryder's it was State Prop vs D-Block
Faxts Kause Jay was scared to make direct disses to y’all… even Beans said That’s the reason he said something kause Jay didn’t.
Kiss & beans was signed. Double r & roc thats why it was label roc vs ryders
@@NHBONTHEARM Yea but no one from Ruff Ryder's and Roc engaged in that battle. It was strictly D-Block and State Property artists.

This brought me back to freshman year of high school. This was a heavyweight matchup.. the Lox vs the Roc.. glad I got to see both parties make music together afterwards
Jada gets some credit for his bars but in my opinion he doesn’t get enough credit dude’s bars and flow are sick💯🔥🔥🔥
Finally!! The best cover of the Jada/Beans beef
Thank you, while you're at it check out some of the other beef series. On the channel.
Jay been a Heaux for years. He’s a subliminal dude. The Yonkers emcees say names. When X changed the game and took it back to the streets, Jay was irrelevant overnight. That’s why Jay grabbed Sigel… Sigel and State Prop gave the flashy Roc label a life raft when they were being drowned out by the streets. Without Sigel, the Roc disappears. That’s a fact.
FactZ!!! P.H.i.L.L.Y Norf, West, Southwest Southside spittin fa them ni$$aZ who stay fly BMack rockafella to I die......😎
You def wasn’t outside…..what albums was Jay not relevant for during Beans small run? The Dynasty? I just want to love you and that album went double plat….when 1-900 hustler came on everyone in the spot went nuts….Jay wasn’t relevant on BluePrint? Lol people will say anything. I love the first three Beanie projects but those were never as popular as the Jay releases even if the first two were classics….no one was snubbing Jay just to listen to Beans…shit during that time you fucked with anything that had good production and the emcee was dope….and that was pretty much all the Rocafella releases during that era…
The funny thing about people saying X brought hip hop back to the street is during that time the backpackers didn’t with X because of Swiss Beats keyboard production….. real heads listened to Dmx, Jay..later Beans…state prop…etc etc…
Lol without Siegel Rocafella disappears….
Man…lol 😢😂😢😂😢

Man this brings me back to the street wars mixtapes....miss these days of bars
This was when mixtapes was hot as slice bread. Something dropped every wk and you had to know someone who had it. As far as battles this is the best to me. Just straight rap. This is before the internet so you had have bars not instagram and twitter posts.
Loved this hip hop battle two lyrical MCs going at it. Jada is my favorite rapper period; but idk Beanie might have got him by a smidge.
"Don't nobody from Philly sound like Kiss," says City of Brotherly love ambassador Beanie Sigel, " I'm Philly! What's messed up is that Kiss got mad love in Philly" -Sigel

Good job !!! Deff did your home work. I used to think jada bodied Beans but as you get older that beanie diss is crazy. But it still a tie!
Thanks.
Exactly beanie sigel diss imo was slightly harder because of his voice and how he deliver his rhymes in his diss songs.
Jay-Z in my opinion has a extremely terrible ego. He is still one of the goats but stuff like this makes it so hard to like and respect him and what makes me upset is this classic battle was overshadowed by the Jay-Z and Nas battle. Both Beanie and Jada deserved better. And I gotta give a shout-out to Nas for mentioning it on his legendary Ether track. This battle is my opinion is a classic both sides went hard and great freestyles we're made. This is one of the only battles than I can give both sides a tie. It’s a shame how incredibly underrated this battle is.
Facts. Was very jealous of Mase.
Nigga shut up! Jay won the war! The lox wearing Roc Nation hats today 🤷🏾♂️
Hov never responded to Kiss, he always had picks.
Out of all this that's your conclusion....lmaoo foh
Hell no lox won easily lox to this day can't be fucked with. Best group of all time
DMX was a real one. RIP
As I was watching this video I was reminiscing about the first time I heard the songs. I remember sitting at my brother's speaker with my mouth open thinking, "Oh no, Beans just dissed Kiss on his song....This is a great song but it's about to be bad..." Bald head Kiss with the Paper Towel on his head was an animal lyrically. And to hear someone brave enough as Beans to go at Kiss was amazing to me. But then again cornrow Sigel wasn't exactly a push-over by a longshot. It was a great time for me even as a kid. On a side note, you forgot to mention Styles P called the Roc sign upside down pussy lol. Still, great video overall
Yea that was another of the funnier lines on there. Lol.
Bro, i love how u present your info. No BS you go straight to the case.
Thank you.
HipHop was the only winner of this Beef, I don't care who was your favorite rapper or which city you're from they both went at each other that produced classic bars.
Exactly
First hip hop beef that ended in a tie and nobody's career was affected by it.
I can see that, how about DJ Quik and MC Eiht though? I don't think either career was very damaged by their beef either.
Exactly
Nah beanie smoked him fr
Dope video. Here’s a couple of things I have to add. The 357 freestyle is actually the 1st shot that was sent on wax in Beans Vs Kiss in which Jada responded with Uhh hunh. Jada sent another shot at the Roc on We are the streets “niggas talk that roc shit I got a brick in the house”… powerhouse 04 in Philly is where the beef was publicly squashed when Kiss brung out Beans. Powerhouse 09 Beans did the freestyle against Hov but the Blueprint 3 concert was a separate event beforehand which is where Hov allegedly called the cops on Sig
Thanks, I was having trouble finding a time when a few of these freestyles were done.
U gotta Tolerate Sig b4 u holla at Jigga...
Yo this is a really good beef. Didn’t know some of this intel. Thanks for all that you do and I will be sending a Super Thanks your way ❤️
Back when beef was beef !!! Groups pulled up on groups to either fight or have a shoot out lives were lost on either side the rap game really came a long way 😂😂💯💯💯
I love this era.
Have to say I thought Jada went harder.
Na go listen to everybar sigel is saying, this the most craziest beef but as far a grimey bars, and knowing Beans was bout everything he was saying at the time. I got beans by a cunt hair🤏 but Kiss wasn’t playing either. This was a good jawn though

this took me back. good shit
Thank you.
Great break down. U covered a lot of ground on this video. The Professional 2 came out early 2001 not 2002, that album came out before the Jayz & Nas beef that got really ignited summer jam 2001.
Thanks. That was a typo on my end.
@@OneStopHipHop811 💯
This is a extremely well put together video you did your research
Thank you.
Beans special delivery was tough too
I remember this entire situation. I was New York kid in High School this was a wild era 🤣🤣🤣
For me X and Beenie are the only rappers that can get in the dirt with kiss. Both are great story tellers yet both are really connected to the streets
This is what rap beef is suppose to be. They were communicating with each other and had respect for each other. They put the angry on the track and gave the fans something to enjoy
Exactly, keep it in the music.
Great video and commentary. One thing I wanted to say: When Kiss said “Your next line should be on a Sisco beat”, it was a shot at Beans because he was on Sisco’s debut album, “Unleash the Dragon” on a song of the same name. Everything else in here and pretty much on point and you even reminded me of some of the D-Block freestyles that I used to listen to but because they weren’t labeled “Roc diss” on the mixtapes, the bars may have went over my head.
But that Sig diss over the Put Ya Hands Up beat is when there was no more sneak dissing-it was straight up OUT THERE. I remember being in a urban clothing store copping a fitted hat when they played that track and we went nuts. Man, hip hop is not like that anymore. I think the last time a beef really had fans waiting for a reply was Drake and Meek and then Drake and Push, and that’s most my because both had Drake drama attached to it. Lol
Haha, yea some others have mentioned that Siqso track. Yea things have really changed, there's not many rap focused beefs like it used to be. A lot of times it turns into a social media back and forth or turns more violent, like with drill music. Thanks for watching, I have a bunch of other videos about rap beefs that occurred around this time frame also on the channel.
Oh OK so that's when Nas responded to Sigel off the Eric B and Rakim Paid In Full beat which was such a dope diss
U included mya. The part most forget 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
No doubt.
Nobody won it was hip hop beautiful battle with no injuries fatalities but straight lyrics.
Sheek doesn't get mentioned i think due to a rep for being a fighter and him being low key til this day.
He didn't beat up anyone lol cam kicked styles like a dog 🤣🤣
Subliminal disses are the corniest things ever. If you truly got beef with someone, don't be shy, address them directly on wax. Subliminal disses remind me of that scene in Friday, when Smokey was talkin' sh*t AFTER Deebo left, LoL!
"Yo Mack! Why you say that about me?"
🤣🤣🤣
The Mya and R Kelly songs weren’t the only Jay songs that were originally Jadakiss’. Jigga My Nigga which was released on the Ruff Ryder compilation and Jay’s Vol 3 in 1999 and U Don’t Know which is on the Blueprint in 2001 were also supposed to be for Jadakiss but Kiss hated the beats on both of the tracks. Both of them are one of my favorite Jay-Z tracks so I want to point that out if you didn’t know that. Also Jay actually dissed the Lox on the Do It Again and Fiesta tracks as well.
Great lyricist; thankful no one died behind it!
Hip hop was in a great place at this time
At least we didn't have mumble clown rap you could understand what they were saying.
@@Thespeedrap facts! The bars actual rhymed and made sense!

@@Ahch_not_op_of_Judah I sometimes wish old rappers would mentor alot of these new guys.
Wow. This beef brings back so many memories, good and bad. Can't believe this was 20 years ago. I was like 15-16yo when this was going down. Still remember the first times I heard both of their diss tracks on the radio. I'm cool with Young Chris, so I remember him telling us about Beans' record before it dropped. Hip hop gold this is. Glad they're both cool with each other nowadays though.
The reason they didn’t speak on Sheek often is because they know he don’t play. He too street. He would’ve moved it way past wax.
Naw to be honest they just don't feel sheek is even worth going at he's not the best rapper if beans came at styles and kiss I'm sure he would of had no problem coming at sheek same thing when they was beefing with 50 same reason why the lox didn't come at bleek
Wow never knew he admitted to listen to the lox now that Jada line makes sense ...yea beans lost !! I used to think he soaked Jada but now naaaaa
Beans set it off with the name dropping with Beanie freestyle over Camrons 357 beat
Exactly people don't realize that beans said claiming they streets and they repping it hard I'm the concrete pavement asphalt and tar please don't mac to you wanna know who greater go ask Jada beans be bullshiting people saying this was about Jay-Z and kiss jumping on the same song kiss said to beans you just a worker and your boss is my man if kiss had a problem with Jay-Z he wouldn't have said that line beans admitted to starting this beef to earn his stripes he said that in a old vlad interview interview
That Battle is Gone 💯 and most likely never coming Back 🙏🏽👈 JadaKiss a Beast 🫡🌎💯✊🏽🇵🇷
That “ it’s time I see you” is stupid 🔥
Yep that was trake and a half
The crazy part is every body say Jay a snake but love Kyrie Irving for the same reason… good hearted but but at the end of the day big on self preservation and do what’s best for them and there’s …. Can anyone out there really say that Jay Z would have the power/influence/wealth he has if he had left Dame steering the ship? People see what that man saw and cut people off on a smaller level on a daily (cousins, parents, friends) but because he saw more for his self it’s disloyal? Makes no sense if you take emotion out of it
This jawn about 99% accurate. Before kiss throwing those shots on X album, it was Beans rapping to the “Oh no” beat by Nore. Beans said “you wanna know who greater dog, go ask Jada”. That’s when it got real
Gratitude for this coverage of one of the illest battles that...👁🗨...feel should have gotten a lot more publicity then it did...however, the song fantastic 4(dj clue) did not have any ruff Ryder camp on it. Cam'ron,Nore,Big Pun, & Cannibus[who slayed it 2 me].

Funny thing about that "Sisqo beat" line, Beans actually did a song (Unleash The Dragon) with Sisqo around that time
I was in 8th grade when this happened. I never forget I had to go to Harlem 135th for 8th grade cause I got kicked out of school in the Bronx, used to hit up the bootleg man right by the train and grab these mixtapes man beans literally held that beef down by himself with the bars deadass !!!
How did you skim over Jada’s song on We Are the Streets “Blood Pressure”?
The start of Kiss and Beans beef started on We Are The Streets Blood Pressure where Kiss said " How you think your man hard when his son on my d..k?... And " You heard that ish right there I started that" and Beans got signed in 98 and most of that song was about JayZ along with Puff!
sadly we will never get to feel this type of hip hop again the music was different then now its just smoke and mirrors
Beanie Sigel did have a verse on a Cisco beat I believe it was unleash the Dragon was the song
I can't believe how close this shit got to getting crazy tho. Thank god it didn't.
Word man, it's nice that it mainly stayed on wax and we got some classic diss tracks from it.

Yea man, I can't name another time that had more rap beefs going on at the same time as like 1998-2003.
East coast rappers are very competitive.
The Jadakiss track on the disco beat was smooth af and I think that's where you see the difference between the 2. Kiss has a smoother flow and delivery. Beans has one of the best flows too but his bars were more expressive and super slick. It's a close call but I give Beans the W on this one. Beans was super underrated, and he showed that he could go toe to toe with the best.
Great insight on this Rocafella and Ruff Ryders tension … you made some great points … additionally, there was some early indications of beef back in ‘99/2000:
Jay-Z apparently was coming at Jadakiss on Vol. 3 “three cuts in your eyebrow, TRYNA WILD OUT…” (late ‘99)
Blood Pressure apparently was one of the LOX album cuts from there second album
that was coming at Rocafella … subliminally though. “And I ain’t talking to him, IM TALKING TO YOU…” and “HOW YOU THINK YOUR MAN HARD WHEN SUN ON MY DICK?”…
Then, in 2000, Jay-Z and Jadakiss little subs going back and forth … Mya joint, R. Kelly joint (both of those tracks originally had Jadakiss on it, but Jay would always ONE-UP him).
You had great insight on Fantastic Four Part 2 … Styles got involved when he was referring to Beans’ Tell Me What Ya Life Like … Styles responded: “don’t compare his life to mines, MINES IS REAL, and HIS IS JUST WORDS AND LINES”…
Then, Jadakiss’s verse goes like “look it much to talk about, FUCK YOU, FUCK WHERE YOU FROM…” “won’t say nothing but you will APPEAR IN COURT.” (Response to Jay-Z’s songs ‘Where I’m From’ from Vol. 1 & ‘People’s Court’ from DJ Clue Backstage)…
And then, from there, 2001… EVERYTHING HAPPENS.
(Personally, I THINK THIS BEEF WAS A TIE. But that Fantastic Four Part 2’s subliminal shots was insane… what a crazy posse cut by the LOX - also, Beanie’s Jada diss over Special Delivery is insane too).
Thank you, I forgot to mention Blood Pressure when I was working on the video and didn't remember until after I posted it, and people started commenting about it. Lol. Check out the rest of the channel too.
Also, I can’t believe Jadakiss and Freeway collaborated with Jermaine Dupri during this time too… I don’t think they realized it OR the song was recorded a year prior to State Property/Rocafella’s beef with LOX/Ruff Ryders…
**The song is called “Hate In Ya Blood”… according to Discogs, this was released in 2000 as a album sampler for JD’s Instructions album, so it’s very possible that it could have been done before the drama.
Also, Angie Martinez’s Live from the Streets from 2001 with Beanie, Jadakiss, Styles & Kool G Rap … on Discogs, this apparently came out in ‘99 on underground mixtapes and officially released on vinyl in 2000 for her album in 2001, UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL…**
There were so many little things going on man!!!
This was pretty thorough. Impressive
Thank you
