Next pocket check: ask what they last used the knife for. I really wanna know what all these knife fans REALLY do with their knives (besides cut boxes) cause I assume most people don't go hunting or camping all that often. When I look at different blade shapes I often wonder what the most likely use case would be
I'm edc a kershaw voltII that I picked up about 5 years ago. Conclusion after 5 years of use I've sharpened once a week, has miner chiping just before the belly. Scales are torn up around the edges. pocket clip is loose and kinda falling off but still works. Speed safe assist is broken but still opens. Squeaks like an old door. Has about another 5 years of life in it. Liner lock is a little over half life.
This makes me wonder why most companies don't allow pocket knives, especially when you work with boxes or warehouse, banned where my stepdad works, like working at night at gas stations I'd be armed they always get robbed.
Gotta say that there were some cool knives in this vid. Lately, my EDC has kinda had to be cut down due to my new office job and having to wear khakis. Even so, I'm always carrying a knife. I carry a Victorinox Alox 1 because everyone has had at least 1 SAK and it tends not to freak anyone out at work. A Moleskin pocket journal with Hong Dian Black Forest fine nib pen which I cycle through green, red, and black ink. I also keep a Victorinox Recruit in my desk at work just in case I need to open a bottle, can, bag, or sharpen a pencil. Once I get off work though, I switch into my regular sneakers and a pair of blue jeans in the mens room. When I get out to my car I slip a CRKT Hootennany into my pocket and a CRKT Rakassan onto my belt since the designer and I served in the same unit the knife was named after. I also have a Buck Intrepid in the trunk of my car with my tool kit just in case
I’ve got an orange Benchmade Griptillian 551 in my pocket. Excellent knife around the yard which is about the only place I’ve been in the last 12 months. Normally carry a Barrage but it is en route to Oregon for maintenance.
I edc my leatherman surge + accessories including both bit sleeves, the bit extender, 1/4” socket adapter, and Lenox wood saw blade. I also carry a wera bit ratchet.
Ok the Pocket check. Right now I am laying in bed, but I am looking right at a S&W neck knife hanging by the door. However today we went hiking and had a picknick, in the car on the tactical visor in a gerber sheath is the Kershaw Barricade, we opened the Potato chips with the Gerber Dime mini multi tool scissors, and a 6 pack of soda with the 1" blade. At the picknick the Spyderco Aqua Salt cuts bread rolls like a dream and can shave onion and tomato slices paper thin on my mini Boars Head cutting board. The only problem with the Aqua Salt and cutting slices of food on a cutting board is IT ALSO LIKES TO CUT THROUGH THE CUTTING BOARD. That Spyder edge serration is crazy!
I don’t carry a particular knife everyday I grab whatever strikes my eye first but of lately it’s been the Benchmade Amicus, Spyderco YoJumbo, Spyderco Para 3 and the full size Benchmade Bugout.
Been carrying my BenchMade Mini Freak. Love it! Switch between that, my 940 Os. & DLC Lil Native by Spyderco (full serrated) Keep up on the good work, BladeHQ!
I have the same FERRARI F40. Hotwheels Early 1990s era. I bought the case that had a 5 pack of Ferrari models over 20 years ago in Central America, the Ferrari Testarosa is there too. My mother had them and I didn't know until a few years ago. I was a big time collector during my teen years, I also have a few original micro machines in my collection.
Kurt, ever since you showed that the Benchmade Altitude, I got one one. Got some custom micarta scales coming in for it too. Damn you. Keep up the good BHQ vibes! ❤️
I think it’s time for another cross country road trip pocket dump. Would be cool if you all also posted random Instagram clips of random people on the street doing a pocket dump.
Civivi Vagabond Flipper Satin in Blue G10. Okay, it's not actually in my pocket, but laying on the table in front of me, Buck 259 Hamby Ball Bearing Flipper and a little Pittsburgh Mini Razor Folder.
I carry a bunch of blades on me every day. But the cold steel SR one tanto is my main stay. But I would love that aftermarket pocket quick clip. where Did he get it.?
Yo! Ben! I wanted to buy a pink Esse Izula for my Girlfriend for her birthday: out of stock. I wanted to get a Cold Steel Spetznatz Shovel for my Sister for her camping trip: Out of stock. I was going to drop a review of the Spyderco Aqua Salt (it's fricken incredible on food prep) and guess what: Out of stock...... Ben, buy some stuff!! ... I did buy $50 worth of whistles, yeah, whistles.
can you share how to keep your EDC knife blade clean like that? after a week, mine looks so dirty compare to those after opening boxes and cutting random stuffs. Is it because you guys get new knife all the time or because you don't use them all the time? or you guys clean them all the time?
When you said Ben, I got too excited.
me too
