Noora puts the BEAST in Battle Beast with her incredible vocals, she's insanely versatile too!
This was apparently in the US which explains the small venue, Battle Beast are playing some pretty big festivals and venues over here in Europe, and the video might also be a bit older

The closet equivalents I can think of with Noora's voice are Bonnie Tyler (huskiness, tonality) but also powerful delivery like Dio.

Battle Beast knows how to rock Wacken and co but also is touring small venues. I was in a very small venue- actual it was a rocker pub with a stage area ^^ and that was the killer... I was deaf after this ^^ (had a hard time at work answering the telephone ^^)

Hej där! Såg Battle Beast i Prag tidigare i år.
Noora didn't miss a beat throughout the entire gig when I saw them. She just is that good with some incredible control of her voice.
She was doing Janice Joplin covers when the band hired her back in 2012 after their previous vocalist (Nitte Valo) had left the band. Noora had not been singing metal before when joining the band.
I'd say Battle Beast falls somewhere in between popular and less popular metal bands. In recent years that have been top of the chart in Finland whenever they release a new album.

That is an athletic and very difficult to master vocal technique that is actually healthy. What is producing that distortion are happening in the false folds and other tissues further up on the vocal tract. You can hear when she cleans it up, that the same open throat tone is there, she just adds that raspy texture on top. If she was doing this the unhealthy way you would hear strain and the note would sound squeezed. If you look at her throat there isn't hardly any tension, other than from the intense arm gesturing. Another way of looking at it, if this was being done with the actual vocal folds, by the end of the song she would not be able to keep pitch and even be able to phonate. This a highly skilled vocal athlete of elite level. Boys and girls, don't try this at home. If you want to sing like this you will need years of training under a specialized vocal coach, and only after you have mastered all the complexities of great clean tone singing. What we all get to enjoy here is the result of tons of raw talent, blessed genetics and soooooo much love for her craft over hundreds of thousands of hours of education and training.

Battle Beast's old guitarist/songwriter ended up leaving the band due to creative difference, and starting a very similar band called Beast in Black, and it's always interesting to me the contrast between the lead vocalists of the two. Noora tends to sing lower in her register, and tends to have that rasp in her voice. Yannis of Beast in Black is a male singer who tends to sing in a very clear high falsetto (he's even covered Ghost Love Score)

Everyone who loves Battle Beast and Noora should check them out Live at Wacken 2019. She goes totally crazy on more than one song, especially Beyond the burning skies.

They tour globally and in big venues. It's just most of their concert videos are taken by the audience, and quality is you know what. Small venue and indoors, better quality. The band is a banger, they mostly do this terminator sci-fi metal from the 80s, but also some more melodic symphonic music. And yeah Noora is a phenomenal vocalist, she rarely leaves people cold. She's featuring also a lot other bands and music creators, but Battle Beast is my favorite Noora music. Or her singing rock.

Man, there are techniques to add grit or do growls without damaging your vocal chords. Melissa Cross is for example a very well known vocal coach who teaches these techniques. I,think u reacted to Amaranthe 82nd all the way and u can see her in that video

I'm a big fan of BB, but let's change gears for a moment. How about folk metal?
This band sings some of their songs in English, but the one I'm sugesting now is in Finnish. I think folk metal which reflects local traditions, also comes most natural with local language. The band often takes their inspiration of local folk tales, so it is with this song too. Ämmänhauta (Hag's grave) by Korpiklaani ruclips.net/video/co0A3vT-6-k/видео.html
