It's amazing how different the Premium is from the Limited, my aunt just changed to a 2016 Limited 2.5i and there are so much differences in the interior, The aluminum trim is changed for a wood looking trim The upper panel has sunroof controls and an SOS and info button The multimedia interface has navigation and is quite different and has controls for base, treble and mids The rims are different as well It also has rear vents, but I thought those were also available in the Premium It has ambient lighting in the doors It has the HomeLink auto dimming rear view mirror And has Eyesight just like thus tester
I'm glad that you are back to doing the the base model cars that most people would buy. It's not that I don't like your reviews on the performance cars and top of the line models. Great review, as always!
I drive a 2015 Toyota Camry that is owned by my parents that I help pay insurance for, I like it, I like Camrys but I also like the Subaru Outback. Maybe when I buy my own car, I might get an out back, I know for when I buy my own car with my own money, I’d like to get something practical, safe, and reliable, with reasonably good gas mileage overall, that’s why I like the Camry, but I’d like to have all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive vehicle for when it snows, and I’d like to have a suv, crossover, or a maybe pickup truck for the practicality.
I test drove an outback 3.6r because of this video, and the only thing I have to complain about is the braking sensitivity, it's waaaay too harsh. Great video as always Kyle, and btw, there actually is a "bass, treble, etc" function on the radio, but it's hard to find. I had the man explain to me how to find it 😂😂
Wow, another wonderful video. So helpful when it came to understanding the electronics up front. I love this car, the only thing is i cant believe it doesnt have rear ac vents!
Having worked for Subaru, I'd say this is the nicest model for Liberty/Legacy and Outback in some time. The last generation was pretty bland aesthetic wise. I don't however like the newer FB20/25 engines because they're definitely not as hardy as what the older EJ20/25 was. The FB takes 0W-20 grade engine oil instead of 10W-30 or thereabouts like the older ones did. 0W-20 is like water, so many cars that I can't count them anymore have had oil slip straight past the rings. They all undergo oil consumption tests and are commonly known to need 1.5-2.0 litres of oil topped up every 1000km (roughly 1.6-2.1 quarts every 620 miles). Countless engines have had to be replaced due to the low remainder of oil wearing out the bottom end bearings on the pistons and creating a substantially loud knock. Subaru have definitely taken a major step back since their last engine. If I was going to recommend an engine out of their lineup, it would be the 3.6 H6 engine, definitely remains the strongest out of the engines. The 2.0 turbo diesel tends to have recurring frequent issues with the Diesel Particulate Filter light flashing on and off, due to factors such as the intercooler hose keeps splitting and needs to be replaced, the MAP sensor keeps on clogging up with soot or the DPF keeps clogging and requires regenerations. The glow plugs also have been known to rust and come apart in the head.
+sam curatolo I wouldn't really, they happen to be fairly sensitive to what you put in them, after a while they start to throw dash lights and warnings, they are actually quite sensitive to changes in oil grade. 0W-20 is the go for them. It's supposed to be all in the name of fuel efficiency and environmental friendliness.
Styling of the 2015 Outback is MUCH better than the 2010-14! When it was released in July 2014, I would have bought one if I had more money to do so. It was March 2014 when I already bought a newly designed Nissan Rogue. Anyway, happy 20th anniversary to the Subaru Outback! (as of fall 2015)
Hi Saabkyle04, I am a BIG FAN of yours and I was just wondering if you could do a review on some more Medium-sized SUVs as I am looking for some of these to buy in the next 3-6 months. Thanks!
Kyle - I have a 2011 Outback limited and am looking forward to another new one some day. Anyway, I think the 2015/16 Outback only has vents in the back seats on the Limited model. This seems like a miss to me by Subaru, but I still like the newest version. I always look for your reviews because they are honest and the most in-depth. Another great review and not just because I love Subarus. :)
Thanks for the excellent, informative review! One thing you didn't mention, though, is child seat anchor points in the rear. There's seems to be some question about whether you can use the anchor points to put a child seat in the middle. I'd be interested to get to the bottom of that.
Mahadi Lee Waiting for a press vehicle to be available. That's not something I want to go to a dealership and do. Something that new takes longer to experience and appreciate.
Using a tire calculator, there is only 1/8" at the tread difference between the 17" wheel diameter for the premium trim and 18" wheel diameter for the Limited trim. This means that there is more rubber between the 17" wheel and the road for the Premium trim compared to the Limited trim. This should give a much smoother ride for the Premium trim tires. But the Limited should handle better in the corners. Because of the lower aspect ratio (60 vs 65). Both tires should give roughly the same rotations per mile. The width of the tread of both tires is the same footprint (225).
Corkoth55 There is a hill ascent button in the center console, which is why you saw the green light on the instrument cluster, but there's also hill decent control with the activation of xmode.
Hey Kyle had you seen or driven the all new redesign 2020 Subaru Outback yet? Because next week of the 13th it will be our 2 month anniversary with our 2020 Subaru Outback XT Onyx edition in the pearl white. And we love ours a lot and my favorite part is the all new 2.4 turbo engine in it.
My mom had this trim level on her last Subaru. Now she has the limited trim level and in June she'll be due for another upgrade. Btw I never been in the newer ones before. It seems as if they adapted to the BMW start chime
Could you do the Aventador roadster, I know that you've done the coupes, but I would like to see you demonstrate the functionality of the roof storage and roof removal/installation process
Can you please do a in dept review of the 2015 Nissan Rogue because my parents are looking for a compact crossover and I want to know what you think about the 2015 Nissan Rogue. Thanks!
Jonathan Raines I have an MR edition I still need to edit, it doesn't have a drive, but a number of tasteful upgrades. I'll try and start working on it soon!
But I think in Japan this Subaru Legacy Outback ignition is push start/stop engine. Why this car still using basic ignition key contact? By The Way in 1:12 I like the car melody when the driver door closed.
Not everyone wants a car that screams for attention, I'd much rather take that than some weird Hyundai or a Lexus, let alone a fucking BMW X6 and puke worthy crap like that. I personally think it's a great looking car. It doesn't look dated to me, just reserved. This kind of design never gets old, to me personally the 4th gen (hell, even the 3rd gen if it's in a good condition) Legacy still looks nice. Maybe I'm somewhat biased because I owned one (it was my second car, my first one was a Volvo S80 that eventually started acting up) and it was the best fucking car I've ever had, I miss it and I'm still wondering why I felt like I NEEDED a new car, and that's coming from a Tesla owner, but generally I always thought Legacy's and Outbacks look good. The 5th gen is kinda fugly though.
Jesus Christ how is a lexus screaming for attention? have you ever sat in a lexus? there is a reason why they are considered luxurary and this is not. Also a hyundai? seriously? lol... and X6's are the opposite of puke worthy.

The one and only fault I find with the test video is... the way to many times of revving the 4cyl engine, not necessary and it's really irritating ........

Ross Miller Hahaha ;)
Years later, just bought this car bc of this video. Thanks!
Love the gauges on this one...Definitely goes with the Subaru style. Love Subies! Sweet vid Kyle!
The best review of a car that I've ever seen. Great job.
My dream car. And my favorite car company!
Good long term car choice Subaru. Thats my plan hopefully. Update - went the opposite way and got a Mini Cooper S instead :D
@@oddities-whatnot I bought an Outback

Out of all the modern station wagons, the outback is my favorite.
The warning chime sounds like BMW's, sweet!
Even more yuck
Ben Crouch Said someone with a Mercedes profile pic.
(Rolls eyes)
The Welcome chime really fits. It sounds just like what you’d think Subaru sounds like
Nice Review Dr. Lindsey. I have been thinking about buying the new outback vs. range rover evoque. Your reviews have been very helpful. Thanks!
I hope everyone realizes that he doesn't take review requests... He reviews what he gets

Thanks for the excellent, informative review! One thing you didn't mention, though, is child seat anchor points in the rear. There's seems to be some question about whether you can use the anchor points to put a child seat in the middle. I'd be interested to get to the bottom of that.

why didn't you mention that the speakers in all subarus (apart from the "premium" systems) make a toyota corolla's speakers sound like heaven?
