When you are compairing weights you forget that with zenitco you measure the weight w/o gastube since you leave stock gadtube on the gun. While SAG rail has its own gastube inside and you have to remove the original gastube from the gun.
Thank you for mentioning that. I neglected to consider that, but that’s a very good point. I weighed my original gas tube which came in at 108 g (3.8 oz), so the weight for the Zenitco setup would actually be 471 g, making the weight difference between that and the MK.21 chassis 67 g (2.36 oz) instead.
Good review! AK's present engineering challenges that no one has seemed to overcome completely in regards to furniture. I have tried many set ups and they all have ups and downs.
I absolutely agree with the weight point, when Zenitco went to Basis, their handguard became lighter than avarage from what I've seen (RS Regulate being king of course), the B33 is lighter than the TWS and the new Midwest setup is a 100 grams heavier than equivalent Zenitco setup. And I also wanna mention that I really appreciate the detailed reviews and reports from actual use, as someone who will be primarily using an AK, this info is very helpful.
I didn't know about the new Midwest setup's weight before this, so that's very good to know. Glad to hear the info's helpful, thanks for watching and commenting!
The RS regulate is quite flimsy and malleable compared to the Zenitco basis rails even at full length. There is pictures of them being bent out of shape when running them at courses while the Zenitco stuff is unchanched. Also, a cool factor is that Zenitco is combat proven and majorly used in conflict.
Long time viewer, never commented, just wanted to say I love your videos. Your honestly and authenticity as well as practicality make you one of my favorite youtubers for AK-related videos as well as gear. Keep up the great work man, always love seeing your videos pop up.
I’m on the fence about getting a sureshot chassis. Zenitco is pretty much unobtanium or not worth the cost to me. This video helps a lot man. I hope your channel blows up.
Thank you, and glad to hear the video helps! The Sureshot chassis is definitely a mixed bag. Another option I had personally been looking at was SLR Rifleworks, which seems like a decent option from what I had heard.
I don't know if you mentioned it, but Sureshot is another Russian company, like Zenitco, but they have a Russian based site and now an American based warehouse. I'm not sure if there is any difference between the products they offer (at least for Galils) but it's probably best to stick to the American website since the original Russian stuff has a very high chance of being "lost" while being delivered.
Sureshot USA actually is its own company and they produce their own parts. From what I've heard the QC is generally better from Sureshot USA, though aside from that, the parts they offer are functionally identical.
Thanks for this review. Nice substitute for Zenitco. I miss buying Zenitco rails. I had some stuff get seized by border patrol last year and I'm still waiting for a resolution in my claims case.
Thanks for watching! That sucks to hear your Zenitco stuff get seized by CBP, that's the main reason I haven't picked up much more Zenitco parts since finishing my SLR-104FR Zenitco build. Did you have it shipped discrete and still get seized, or was it standard shipping?
@Jang-gun standard shipping. If I ever try ordering it again, I'll try discrete only. I got lucky once when I bought something from Kazakhstan. I hardly see anything coming out from Kazakhstan anymore though
Very interesting handguard setup! Seems to be more of the same type of hanguard setups coming down the pipeline... mainly i like the optic setup & the fact that it is free floated. I believe JMAC has very similar setup!
Great vid, looks like an interesting accessory. Another note, when you were shooting the silver bear I noticed you were resting your rifle on your magazine. I think (to me) that’s a neat advantage of AK pattern guns, the magazine sticking out so damn long means you can use it as a sort of monopod. Some might say no actually you want to get as low as possible and maybe for pure accuracy sure but when your beyond the flat range shooting in the brush where there are hills dips and rocks everywhere it’s kind of nice going prone to have your rifle naturally rest a few inches higher off the ground.
Thank you, glad you liked the video! I agree, the AK magazine works quite well as a makeshift monopod. As far as precision is concerned, it's not as stable since you lose a lot of contact with the ground and have less of a sturdy base, but like you said, it works a lot better to get clearance above the ground when outside the flat range. The range I go to unfortunately is on a slight incline, so for prone shooting I have to either use an extremely long bipod or build up a base with the bag + magazine like I did with the Silver Bear, just to see the target lol. Not ideal, but it works.
I can see that, and I was pretty conflicted on whether to compare the Sureshot chassis to the Zenitco Sport kit or the B-30U as I was trying to factor in the top picatinny rail on the Zenitco being interrupted by the handguard retainer on the gas tube, and the difference in rail length behind the rear sight, hence why I decided to compare it to the B-33U. I think comparing it to the Zenitco Sport kit would be a fair comparison to make, and would make the Zenitco significantly lighter by comparison.
Thanks for a good review! Stupid question, why not just use the side mount, if you do not need to fold the stock to the left? Or, you're also doing this for the longer handguard wih the accessory mounting options, and to freefloat the barrel?
Thanks for watching! Yes, I chose this chassis primarily so I could get a bit longer handguard and to be able to mount a handstop/foregrip. Otherwise, if it was just the optic I'd have gone with the side mount.
I noticed in your installation video that you had trouble getting the bolt carrier back in with the top rail section. When it did get in, I saw the top rail section pop up slightly. The question is: when the whole chassis/rail system is installed and bolted down fully, are you able to remove the bolt carrier/disassemble the rifle?
Yes, there's room. I changed over the BCM foregrip for a Phase 5 micro handstop that has a lug in the rear instead and it fits totally fine with the lug having plenty of clearance with the Sureshot chassis's mount.
I bought a bunch of zenitco stuff out on the flip one night 3500$ worth for my AKs i built. as soon as it cleared customs in the US boom...war hits weirdest thing honestly. What timing lol
Dang, that is REALLY lucky timing that you were able to get your shipment through customs right before the war started. From what I've heard from others, customs was seizing a lot of packages especially right when that all started.
I've been looking for videos going into the one with the rail that's the entire length of the dustcover and field strip but can't find any. Do you know if you can still disassemble the gun with the full length rail chassis?
I believe you could field strip the gun with a Sureshot MK3 chassis installed by removing the rear dust cover section from it. Sureshot has a video on their site showing this during installation, under the Install Manuals, so you could follow the same procedure they show there to remove it.
Do you mean a zero test like what people are doing lately with the Sig Spear where they pull the barrel/handguard or something else? If its that type of zero test, I don't feel any flex or wiggle. The whole chassis is very solid.
@GreatOutdoors11 The MK3 has wobble on the rear portion of the dust cover. They actually only recommend using a "magnifier or non-zeroed optic" on that portion of the rail since it doesn't hold zero at all. The rest of the MK3 holds zero, and everything on this MK2.1 is also good.
Doesn't seem like it. I had someone comment on the installation video I did on this SAG chassis that he was able to, but I tested it on mine and I wasn't able to get enough clearance to use those slots even with a sub-flush screw.
Why's that? Personally I don't mind it much and I think a benefit of Sureshot's proprietary gas tube is you can run an uninterrupted full-length rail above it.

Love these videos man 👌
Glad to hear it, thanks for watching!
Bro thank you for the review, also were did you get that grey jacket or what brand is it? looks really cool 🔥😩 18:47
Thanks for watching! The jacket is a Condor Summit Zero in grey/graphite.
@@Feldmutze thanks 🔥
Zastava makes an option with a full tactical rail for a good price imo 👌
Only usable on Serbian AKs, however.

I almost wonder if the Zenitco Sport series handguard would be a more apt comparison to the Sureshot handguard as that one is Basis all the way around

Yes, the BCG can still be removed but it's a lot more awkward to reassemble.
@@Feldmutze thanks. I was going to say, not being able to remove the BCG without unscrewing something would be a deal breaker by itself!
Is there room to torque down your fore grip if you cut your screw down to a shorter length?
Yes, there's room. I changed over the BCM foregrip for a Phase 5 micro handstop that has a lug in the rear instead and it fits totally fine with the lug having plenty of clearance with the Sureshot chassis's mount.

Reptilia DOT mount at their 1.93" height. I did a video review on that mount as well if you're interested

Who makes that flash hider you’ve got on your rifles ?
The flash hider I have on my WASR-10 is a YHM Phantom and the SLR-104 has an Arsenal AR-M1.
can you please do a zero test. Is the optic rock solid or is there flex and wiggle if you move it?
Do you mean a zero test like what people are doing lately with the Sig Spear where they pull the barrel/handguard or something else? If its that type of zero test, I don't feel any flex or wiggle. The whole chassis is very solid.
