Love watching your channel. There were three girls in my family and as each one got married my Mom would make us a cookbook with our favorite recipes that she use to make as we were growing up. She did the same for my sister-in-law when she married my baby brother. I still have those recipes in her handwritting. Sadly she is no longer with us but she was an excellent cook and baker. Even though I have the recipes memorized I still pull the book out every once and a while and read them just to see her handwriting and bring the memories back. Chicken and dumplings and potato pancakes were my favorite. I turned out to be the big cook and baker in the family.

I love those Idahoan potato packets! I will try adding milk in to make them richer. My favorite flavor is the Garlic mashed. My mom always made her green beans cooked with bacon. My mom always used her leftover mashed potatoes to make potato soup. But I love the look of those potato cakes. I bet they're just delicious! We lived in Arizona for a short time and everyone they are made what they called Arizona sun tea. You took a big glass gallon jar and put several tea bags in the top of it and set it out to bake in the Arizona Sun. By the end of the day, you had a gallon of wonderful brewed iced tea. Of course you had to add a lot of ice to it cuz it was quite warm! I wonder what it would be like if you were to make ice cubes out of your sweet tea and then it would not dilute the flavor down quite so much. Unless you make your tea extra strong counting on having a lot of ice in it. Being a Yankee, I'm not so sure I could handle quite that much sugar in my tea but I suppose it is all in what you are used to and you can definitely adjust the recipe to your taste. I will definitely check out Megan's channel.

Lol, happy little accident as Bob Ross says 😂 so glad that you loved the Caesar chicken, too. And for bacon in the oven, I've been putting it in a cold oven and start it heating up to 400 degrees. Once it pre heats I take a peek at it and usually go about 5 more minutes or so. And if it's thick cut I will flip it over to the other side, too. Just watch it close and adjust your time accordingly. Oh and I always line my pan with foil for easy clean up.

They were mainly made as a filler in the old days when times were tough, And l am going to have to give these ones a shot, they look good. After saying that, l must say that l tried your manwhich and cornbread recipe, and all l can say is OMG, where has this been all our lives, both of us loved it and will not go back to using bread/buns it was so good. I've been making canned green beans the same for 40 yrs and my grown children ask me to make them as their veggie of choice. I start by putting 3tbls of butter in a pot, drain the liquid off the beans, add them to the pot, add more butter, prob another 3tbls, a sprinkle of onion powder, garlic powder and himalayan pink salt (I didn't know there was a different flavor for salt until I started using this, won't ever go back to table salt again!!) and pepper. I put the pot on a med heat and let them cook for about 15/20 min (they do not become mushy) and voila, mommas green beans!! I'm going to stretch my self to try different ways to cook them, who knows, someone elses green beans could end up my childrens fav!!

My mom put canned spaghetti in tomato sauce in the chili she made. My dad got tired of canned tomatoes when he was in the Marines in the South Pacific. Canned spaghetti can be hard to find. I used canned spaghetti o’s in chili the last time I made her recipe. She died over 7 years ago. But I still make her recipe because it is what I am
used to. I don’t like red kidney beans. I use pinto beans or great northern beans or cannellini beans when I make chili.

I love all your videos but I especially really like this one because it is just basic good and affordable. Making all of these. Also making them for my working daughter and family. I love to cook them a meal during the work week, I text her and she stops by and picks up for her and her family. My son in law will really like this kind of food. It's kinda like his mom use to make. Please make some more of this type. Love watching and listening to your channel. God Bless You and family.

Sweet Momma Mel, everything looked AMAZING!!! I MUST try that caesar chicken, that looks so yummy and those cowboy beans! I had almost forgotten that my Mother made us Tuna patties all the time. I need to try that recipe, she made them very similar to yours and then she made them another way with corn flakes inside and that was so very good. I agree with you, food always brings back memories and if they are of my precious Momma then it makes my heart so happy! Your always bring so much joy to us and we are so blessed to watch your channel each week. God bless you always!!!

Making tea, while it's boiling and almost done. Add a small pinch of baking soda . It'll fizz up a lil bit it helps with the acid.

If you want to use fresh potatoes for potato cakes you can but they turn out a lot better if you stir some potato flakes in to thicken them up.

Good evening, Mel! Hope all is well with you and your family! I am tickled to see that you are collaborating with Megan. She does have a good channel with recipe's that are a bit outside of what I normally fix. She is another great follow. Once again, everything looked amazing. I have been doing the tuna patties instead of salmon for quite a while. Love them. Will be trying your sauce the next time I make them. Hope you have a great week ahead and God bless!
