i’d just like to shout out that *technically* the Tacoma tournament i just top 4’d was won by a Krark Sakashima. we “conceded” to Kenrith so that they could get the top deck points but still played it out for prizing and Krark Saka won that. obvi not official data but wanted to make sure they got the credit for a big W (the two of us were basically tied in standings all day and kept hyping each other up to get to finals)
Go Krark saka
I swear, if we ever gets merch for this podcast, it needs to be some version of Ian driving a lime scooter into cal. (Or sending a squad of scooters at him) Bonus points if Ians dressed as a commander hes well known for, like Winota (or maybe the squad is his commanders), and just slamming into Cal as editor Jace.
thanks for including that intro, good to know im not alone in the worrying
More people need to talk about how good Kenrith is with Nadu in the 99. The boost is HUGE.
Do you play shuko/lightning greaves? Or just use kenriths ability to target ?
Friendly reminder to register to vote!
Humiliation ritual
l appreciate the take on Chevron. We need more people to be outraged by SCOTUS.
People who argue that this is a MTG podcast and politics should not be discussed - are the ones who are never engaged anyway.
just ran into this channel for the first time and as soon as I heard you talked about Chevron I thought I clicked a wrong video
These monthly power ranking episodes have been really great!!
Friendly reminder for everyone that Chthonian nightmare can only be activated at Sorcery Speed!! So you can’t use borne upon a wind to win with it at instant speed
Think of all the space your car is taking up... Lime scooters may be used improperly but i would take them over car traffic any day
Yeah this is certainly true - they're definitely a boon to pedestrian freedom etc. but the ideal would be that they are both used correctly *and* also be more of a public venture rather than purely private capital startup situations
FWIW Borne into Chthonian Nightmare doesn't work because nightmare limits the ability activation to only as a sorcery
Awesome guest. Great thoughts, solid lists. Banger episode
Thank you! :)
Cal Sandwich
Dude the Cal sandwich is always the best
Thanks for the shoutout man! We almost made it!
I’m glad Cal is putting respect on Nadu’s deck. You can’t look those stats and hedge your bets putting it at #6. It can have a month where it’s top 3, even if it falls off.
Love seeing Harold sculpting here!
1:16:00 Love CC! Big things for the future of the WNBA and women’s sports. Her shootout with Steph curry was iconic.
Um… wasn’t the 3 point contest between Steph curry and Sabrina Ionescu??? IE that wasn’t her😂
@@travismanzo3035 welp that article was wrong haha. Sure was.
@@pokedadsam9041to be fair, wnba players aren’t the most historically recognizable athletes, but it was iconic, I love CC too, but big ups to Sabrina
@@travismanzo3035 absolutely. I’m actually trying to find the article now. Tell them to give the proper baller her props!
I think I better metaphor for Malcolm, it’s the Harry Kane of cEDH
I picked up ians top 16 malcolm tymna cutting the kambal and blood chief for mana drain and delay. The deck is insane.
Not sure why people aren't doing well with that pair either.
I’m doing well with them in Japan! 💕
Thumbnail is fire.
The bird is the word
Anybody else feel like Cal -(The Heralds Horn variant**) has a Game Cube problem?? 😅
I can stop anytime!!!
@@nintendocal5767 the first step on the road to recovery...
Cal and Cal and Ian?! Let’s gooooo
Nadu can be quick if you’re a good pilot. The win is “non deterministic” but highly likely and easy to fly through if you need
How fast I ran to this episode is insane
I felt the Cleveland Browns metaphor in my soul. Thanks for the good laugh 😂
Meta breakdown, reveal your secrets to me 🧙♂️
Edit: Also unstable amulet looks like it was printed for Ob Nixilis!
I came here to say this
And Etali honestly
Not to throw salt in the wounded, but will the kinnan stats take an even harder dive after cow town?
I believe the stats for this episode include Cowtown, which is part of why they are simply so bad haha
In the intro, Ian is all too real with that comment at 0:58. Because.... WOOF. Relatable.
god, those lime scooters - freaking preach. Pedestrians and city dwellers need effective means of short range public transportation for a thriving community, and those damn scooters just ain't it chef. just a mess, let's get some good transportation methods!
Stay sculpty! ✌️
Malcolm Vial is my new deck of choice, gunna hang up Darg Thras for a while and get to cooking with a new flavor of pirates
Lime Skater Hooter
If Nadu gets banned in commander Ill be bummed. I liked that a new commander came out that was immediately competitive. No one has adjusted to it, like they did orcish bowmasters. So its winning. In other formats, whatever, but if this thing gets banned in a 4player multiplayer format, thats just WEAK
It makes games unfun to the point where I just scoop
@@damo9961 yeah i get that. Im talking about cEDH specifically. I havent played it casually yet.
@@andrewkelley6039 Yeah me too i dont play casual.
@@andrewkelley6039 I don't play casual. It makes me want to sell up and quit Cedh
We LOVE Cal Jones 😻😻😻(aoooogah!)
You know, we viewers are so hot about these rankings that we don't need our fingers or hands anymore to click on the video/podcast version.
We use other body parts.
the lime scooters are back!!!
I’m out here fighting for my life to keep Dargo’s numbers up, told you you’d have to talk about it for June 😂
haha
Welcome back Cal
The inability of pods to properly do threat assessment against Sisay is one of the reasons I stopped playing the deck. Just don't feel like politicking every single second that Sisay is out and I have more than 4 lands/rocks/dorks on the field.
I casually splashed chthonian nightmare in my 5 color dino (kenrith) and with a dockside I turn 4'd lol
6 color? Youre cheating
@@aklepatzky 5 color, I didn't notice it screwed lol
idk where you guys get these numbers, but my goodness I wish they included results from Japanese tournaments.
Did I hear an Arcum mention, ARCUM WILL RISE AGAIN!
My 3 favorite people!!!
Anybody wanna talk about what happened to Wounded satelitte?
lol wtfff is this thumbnail
Ohio is basically western pennsyltucky; the line scooter line checks out. O-H!
I-O
Magda….. nOoooo.. we miss you!
I love it when I click on a magic the gathering podcast and get blasted by the political views of the hosts. That’s just what I wanted to hear…
Oppo schmoppoe
Sorry other commenters don't like politics. It literally affects everything though...
Correct. And the average magic player uses magic as a way to escape most of the crap. So having the things they are trying to escape bleed into their escape mechanism makes many of them mad and feel unsafe.
@pokedadsam9041 I would say listening to a cEDH break down is not what the average player does if we're to believe the breakdown of how people interact with magic. When you're invested to this level it is inevitable that a person's personal self will play a part in their content.
They spent more time talking about sports ball stuff than the throw away comment about the state of politics. If you want surface level content that you can "escape into" there are those who put nothing of themselves into what they make.
@@ClaytonChristopherHarbison a hobby that people have had for 20 years isn’t surface level to them. Again, it isn’t a fleeting thing for many. They are invested into the hobby and it provides that for them.
People spend 100s of hours making a D&D campaign… are they surface level or underinvested? They look at books and listen to podcasts. And what do many of them want? To socialize and escape reality. The same is true for mmo’s and TCGs.
So yes, some people are expressing disinterest with that. And I didn’t say I found an issue with it; but you certainly decided to personalize your attack back.
@@pokedadsam9041My apologies if my response seemed like an attack; I was merely pointing out that while you said the average player uses magic as an escape, in reality the average player is not invested enough to watch this content and that asking these content creators to not bring aspects of themselves into their content is silly. Such sanitized content is reserved for a wider audience that really are using magic as an escape, and not a defining aspect of their persona.
I will say, that I would probably not call such a large part of one's life as you are describing it as an escape; for if you are trying to "escape" for such a large amount of time that is unhealthy. Devoting one's self to a passion is something we should all try to do, but acknowledging the world we live in is a necessity. No one is an island, even if it is the best magic card, lol.
@@ClaytonChristopherHarbison Hey, no worries. I agree with escapism and dissociation to a large amount is unhealthy. The world is not our island and especially social media lol.
I am still saddened that island is the best land. As a Timmy at heart; BasicForestForLife. 😂
Opening up to politics honestly makes me want to not listen. As said it's just too much these days.
Truer words have not been spoken.
Common Cal mistake really
Politics is dumb but very important
@adamcomeau3731 not important when we are here for a fantasy card game
Agreed. Leave the politics (left or right) and religion (love or hate) out of your podcast, please.
politics and EDH dont mix its like turning on ESPN and getting debate highlights no thanks
MtG content creators and their trash tier takes on politics seems to be a match like flies on crap. My advice would be to not bring it up at all.
Thanks for the advice. Im going to politely decline. Thanks for the engagement tho! 🙏
@@TheMindSculptors Then I guess continue to look like idiots to roughly half the world for a reason completely divorce from the subject your channel implies it's about. But don't worry, engagement stops here since you chose the path of a stubborn moron.
Ian is right: Krark Saka folds to well-timed targeted removal. Players: please remove Krark once then ignore the deck for the rest of the game. Thank you in advance! 🫡
