Hey, I’ve discovered a solution for this issue. It turns out that some PCs lack a combined microphone and headphone jack (TRSS). If your PC has separate mic and headphone jacks (TRS), the fix is straightforward: just grab a TRSS to TRS converter, and voilà-it’ll work seamlessly!, Thank me later

My pc has only one jack, and i regularly use it for my headphones (TRSS). The thing is that when i insert my external mic, which has a TRS jack, it does not show up. I bought an audio adapter which has two sockets (pink and green, pink supposedly for mic, search "hama audio adapter 3.5 mm" and you can see what i'm talking about in the Amazon) and a TRSS jack to be inserted in the laptop. Now when i insert the TRS jack of the mic in the pink socket (to tell you the truth, it does not fit very well into it but a bit loosely) and then insert the TRSS jack of the adapter, the external mic shows up in the sound settings, but it doesn't collect any sound. When i tried the voice recorder it only gave a grinding sound like when audio does not work. What's funnier is that even when i insert only the audio adapter, without attaching the mic to the socket, the laptop recognizes it as an external mic!! Also, my laptop recognizes my headphones as an external mic, too. I also tried the mic in an old laptop which has sepparate sockets for mic and headphones, but it doesn't show up there, either. I hope i wasn't too long and complicated in my explanation, but so it is. Do you have any idea how could i make it work?
