- My First Even Bolt-On Mod for the 1er!
Join me as I attempt to remove the current false carbon fiber rear diffuser from my car and mount my very own R1 Diffuser.
I'm a fan of the new diffuser design as it presents a more aggressive and flared look to the rear of the car. While this may not have been the cleanest install, I'm certainly happy with the way the diffuser mounted up for my first time. Should I get the car on a lift at some point in the near future, I may have a second look to clean up some of my handy work but for the time being, she should be all set.

You should be able to use heat gun to shape the duraflex. It does look nice coming out from the bumper. Where did you purchase that? Thanks!

I've been looking at diffusers for a while, trying to find something gloss black that doesn't ship from China. I saw this one, local pickup (I'm in Socal too), but with the fitment issues. Idk man what do you think, how's it holding up?
it’s still on the car so no issues there.. definitely won’t fit like an OE part but you’re also paying far less so it’s a bit of a trade off. i haven’t gotten around to remounting it (though i suspect i will soon).
i’m confident that with adding two additional mounting points on my bumper, i can get it to sit flush all around with no issue

For sure! This was my first Diffuser and I’ve never put any other kits on a car before but my guess is that most pieces will have a pretty rough foot at first. Kinda have to finesse it to make it for right. That’s said, the overall fiber glass seem like decent quality to me. Hope that helps 👍🏼
