@meenasathis4887 thank you!! I basically spent any free time I had studying with the exception of the day before my test... I took a break and just relaxed the day before. Definitely study your guidelines. I feel like if I didn't I probably wouldn't have done as well. I used the AAPC practice exams and they helped me understand how the questions would be formatted and how the testing platform worked, which took away a lot of the anxiety. So I'd recommend buying those if you haven't yet. Wishing you lots of luck!! Let me know if you have any other questions 😊
@shravani3565 thank you!! I took mine at an exam center. You have the option to do either or. If you go on AAPC's website it has the information for both to see which option would be best for you 😟
Hi! I've watched all the videos on your channel and taken notes as well as taking the course with AAPC and I took my exam today and I PASSED! Your videos were very helpful. Thank you and keep making these vids. ✮✮✮✮✮
So glad I passed on the first try, it was all still multiple choice only as of 6/28/24! Oh, and I made an 89% overall with the score announced the next day on My AAPC, but got like four sections at 67%... and ICD-10-CM was 60%. I have a LOT left to learn. Fill-ins would have meant an auto-fail, I'm 100% sure of that. Maybe they'll extend the university partner program I went through, because 1 week for 1-2 chapters of the text was insanely bad. Way too accelerated.
Honestly you might not just give yourself enough credit - the fill in the blanks aren't that bad. They even tell you how many ICD-10-CMs and CPTs you need.

Hi Victoria! I know you mentioned that the practice exam is similar to the real exam, but is it similar to the where they do the 4 medical term, then 7 guidelines, etc, in a row or is it all sporadic like 1 med term here, then next question is a CPT question, then it’s something else? Thank you! Love your videos!

Hi victoria,I'm just had completing my medical coding course and I'm seeking practice questions for taking mock before my cpc exam... So can you suggest any good website for mock questions?
I think fill in the blank is not necessary. Cause some full in the blanks are objective. You can have a fill in the blank tanta can have several different answers or the person may not even understand it. For me, fill in the blank are extremely difficult. But that’s me.
Hi ! If I take my CPC exam January 2025 can I use my 2024 books? I keep getting conflicting information regarding this. My instructor says no but it sounds like you are saying yes, I can. Thanks in advance
The exams get a refresh every January 1st to reflect the current calendar year's code sets. Feel free to use last year's books, but just know you might be at a slight disadvantage. For the full scoop, check out AAPC's official guidance: www.aapc.com/certification/faq.aspx " What year's books should I use? All AAPC exams are based on the current calendar year’s code sets, so we strongly suggest you use the current year’s books. The previous calendar year’s books may be used on an exam, but you would be at obvious disadvantage doing so. The upcoming year’s books are not allowed for exam use. The exams are updated every January for the new code sets."

Hey I am from india and going to take exam of cpc this month. I was wandering that can I have a career opportunity in US. Can you plz help me with that and how to get promotions in my career. Thanks for your time.
Thanks for reaching out with your questions about medical coding jobs in the U.S.! The truth is, it really depends on the employer. I don't have details on who's hiring for what positions, especially internationally. It's also important to consider the need for a work visa when applying for jobs in the U.S. from another country. Because the CPC is based on the U.S. healthcare system, it will likely only be valid for jobs coding U.S. records. Keep in mind, the salary might differ from that of a U.S.-based coder, as one of the main reasons for offshoring jobs is often cost savings. Best of luck on your journey
How does the exam situation work with accessibility stuff? For example, in university I was able to have double the exam time, bathroom break, and some notes.

I’m mexican with a medical degree here in my country, but I’m looking for a remote job (doing all my certifications, of course), but before buying courses or materials i want to be sure i have an opportunity being hired
It’s great to hear about your proactive approach to transitioning into medical coding. While I can provide information on the industry in general, I can’t guarantee specific outcomes when it comes to hiring, as this often depends on various factors like certification, experience, and the job market at the time you apply. I also am not versed on remote work outside the US.

There are currently no fill-in-the-blank questions on the 2024 CPC exam, but it's important for us to be prepared for their potential inclusion in the future. Rather than hoping for an easier exam to suit our personal preferences, we should embrace the challenge. Strengthening the content of the CPC exam ensures that only well-qualified candidates succeed, which in turn upholds the respectability of our field. If the exam were made too easy, it could dilute the value of our certification and ultimately make it more difficult to secure job opportunities.
