  • A few weeks ago I purchased an Ozark Trail Ridge 29 Mountain Bike from Walmart - only for it to arrive damaged in shipping. Then, a friend was shopping in Walmart and told me about some clearance bikes - including the OT29 for only $208.89. I told them to buy it for me only to discover it is the SAME BIKE I RETURNED TO THAT SAME STORE weeks earlier. So in effect, I rebought the same broken bike twice!!!
    Would you buy the same bike twice given the price and knowing the issues? Comment below 💬!

A lot of times what happens is we try to send them back but the manufacturers all ready got their money and just tell us to sell for what ever it rings up especially for items that peticular Walmart doesn’t normally carry

    That's some some crazy there, Kev. I really hope that doesn't become a Walmart habit, there or anywhere else. I know you'll find a way to have that up and running soon, though, but if I were you, any bike I'd get at this point, good or bad, I'd be writing the serial # down if something ain't right with it...just in case

    Do you caulk all of the holes in the frame so that water doesn't get in there and rust them from the inside out? Or corrode them if they're aluminum? You should keep track of the serial numbers when you buy them.

    • @dariuspumma
      @dariuspumma Год назад

      1. Aluminum is just pretty corrosion resistant because the second it is exposed to air it oxidises and creates a strong protective layer for itself
      2. The frame has vent holes to let water out so it won't be in there for too long.
      (At least from what I've been able to find online)

    If you are going to bend the hanger, heat it up to a dull red and then let it cool down naturally. Heating metal till it's red and then letting it cool down naturally undoes the work hardening from the bending. You can also straighten it while it is still hot. It will be *much* easier. That's a very small piece and though the camera often hides true dimensions, it looks a good 1/4" thick. It'll be a pain to bend it cold. This is so long as it is steel. It might work with aluminum, but I don't know.
    I do this with pots (potentiometers) They have these thin little ears you have to bend to take them apart. Because they are so thin and so old, they work harden really easy. But once I get them apart, I heat them up and all the work hardening is gone.

    • @brianpham2584
      @brianpham2584 Год назад

      Steel goes to red so that would be fine for steel/iron, but aluminum is going to warp, and in the worst case it would melt. There are hanger straighteners for that, which basically is a long lever comparing how much of the offset the hanger has with regards to the wheel. Then you would push or pull the lever to make sure it is equidistant all around the wheel. That works like a charm.

    • @tarstarkusz
      @tarstarkusz Год назад

      @@brianpham2584 Yeah, I've never dealt with doing that to aluminum, only steel. But from what I know, it's usually not a great idea to start bending aluminum. Aluminum, from what I know about it, is less plastic than steel. Steel can be worked cold quite extensively and it is relatively easy to undo the work hardening that could occur. I don't know if aluminum is good candidate for cold-working.
      Those derailleur alignment tools are expensive.
      Personally, I think he should just buy a new hanger. How much can they be? If he doesn't already have a propane torch and propane, even just heating it up will cost like 20 bucks.

    5:28 The (self-inflicted) issue is that Walmart's got a no-questions-asked return policy, I had a Trouvaille with an awful wiggle in the fork, returned it to the store, at no point did they ask why it was being returned or even give me the opportunity to tell them what was wrong with it when I brought it in, just rang me up for my refund and wheeled the bike around to park in the hallway behind the customer service desk :P
    iirc I did leave a sticky note saying "bad fork" on the bike when I brought it back, but I doubt that stayed put for long. I didn't see it return to the bike aisle, but I also don't visit that Walmart all that frequently, so it may well have gone out for sale and then sold again. (I did later see a Large show up on their display when online said that store didn't have any, so I kinda suspected it might be a return as well? Something seemed off. But I just ordered one online instead so I could make sure I was getting one straight out of the box, that worked out alright.)

    Hi i want to ask you about idiots who ruin it for bike riders. A few weeks ago i was riding on a quiet road with houses either side and suddenly constant horn blasted at me i decided to turn around but could not see who it was and i carried on then few moments later blasting again i turned to see male passenger with laughing in car. Only last week i had idiots again it seems to be a common thing in england where groups of males in cars will overtake you and suddenly start screaming at you loud. I remember in school times a male at bus stop suddenly started making loads of noise at the stop. he then said i always do this so cyclists loose control and fall of their bike wondering where the noise is coming from. Its always the same type of people groups of males in a small car you see who love to stick their heads of windows to scream and shout hoping that you fall of the bike in the road. i always have a fear of cycling on roads and you have vision of something grabbing your clothes and racing at full speed dragging you off the bike. i had to go to the west midlands police face book page to try and leave a comment under one of their videos to enforce the law to stop people doing this or long ago throwing eggs at you from cars. little pepper spray on right side of handlebars angled to the right whenever idiots do that few sprays into window teach them lol but its banned in england lol.
